Whats the best cereal?

Like the healthiest, but good tasting?

It's down to personal taste, of course.  I'd say it's got to have some wholegrains and protein to be nicely filling and would recommend a good quality, high-fibre, sugar-free muesli with plenty of nuts and seeds.  Add some fresh fruit on top, serve with a little milk... terrific.  As for brands... how about making your own from dry ingredients?  Delicious.

I like Special K plain.  It's not bad on calories either.  Like 140 or something.  However Smart Start is pretty good to but about 200 calories.  In the long run though my personal opinion is you can eat 200 cal in the morning because your body needs that fuel to get started, plus you burn it off throughout the day.

Hope that helps!

Be careful with special K... their products still have a high sugar content because of the high fructose corn syrup.

I am a kashi fan.  Protein and fiber rich!   The Kashi Golean Crunch is my favorite.  The plane go lean doesn't have any flavor for me :(

I hear the fiber one cereal is good... but I have not read the label or tried it.

Oh thanks for the advice coppertop!  I never noticed the corn syrup before!  I can't get Kashi where I am right now but I will def.  look into when I get home!  :)

My favorites: Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal, Nature's Path Heritage Flakes, Barbara's Cinnamon Puffins, Barbara's Shredded Spoonfuls - I find that these keep me full the longest if I combine them with milk/yogurt and some fruit. Typically, I use the sweeter ones (puffins and spoonfuls) with tart fruit (strawberries, blackberies) and the first two with fruit that is often sweeter (mangoes, cherries, etc.)

multigrain cheerios, crispix, shreaded wheat, honey bunches of oats, kashi stuff is good but it's a bit more expensive and the go lean crunch is really hard and hurts when i chew it.

I like cereals from Nature's Path. The Heritage Flakes are my favorite - pretty low sugar, and 6 g of fiber in 3/4 of a cup. :)

I like Special K but it's fairly more high in Sodium than other cereals. I also enjoy Total with cranberries, mmm! Tongue out

Grape Nuts with Vanilla soymilk.

I'm a huge fan of Special K protein plus!  On the weekends for a special treat I mix a serving of that in with a serving of the Special K berries and yogurt (too high in sugar to eat everyday) for a nice big bowl of heaven after my long jogs.

Kashi cereals are great. there's on organic cereal called puffins that i really like. I get the plain kind and add blueberries
I love the Fiber One varieties...all but the original one.  Wheaties are also really good.

This morning I had multi-grain hot cereal by Country Choice.  I add 2T of flax meal while it cooks.  Slice 1/2c each of strawberries and blueberries (or what ever I feel like) and 1T pure maple syrup.  Yumm!  By adding the flax it gives me more fiber and really fills me up.  I'm quite satisfied until lunch.

I just recently got the Special K Cinnamon Almond and I am really liking it. It also only has like 7g of sugar, which isn't too bad. It's also only 120 cals a serving without milk, but I use soy milk so it's about 200 calories in all.

I personally LOVE Kix and multigrain cheerios. Also Special k

Special K with red berries is my fav.  So good think I might have a bowl for dinner Smile

I'm big on Grape Nuts. They are relatively healthy, and with some skim milk, the flavor is fine. They're quite plain, but they don't taste bad, either.

Personally, I would say Kashi Autumn Harvest. The calories are higher than a lot, but it is organic and is WAY more filling than a sugar filled bowl of cereal. Makes me feel healthy to eat it :D

Cheerios! high in fiber, low in calories. I usually add a banana for taste if it's too plain. I love them, and eat them every morning!
