whats going on with my body? :

Quote  |  Reply

Ok so heres whats going on, I was doing great at the very first few days of my diet I was  14 5'6 165...

then in the past few months I lost  pounds but then I stopped exercising for a while and it just stuck there. I became 15 5'8 156-158

I was eating was to low sadly at around 600 cals a day.

But then I started to do soccer and karate and upped my calories to 1000 my weight went down to 154-155 and stuck there

then at the begining of this month I ate cleaner, drank tons of water, little to no processed sugar at all as well as other chemicals allot of things tend to have and upped my calories to 1500 a day.

It worked perfectly and my weight went down a pound every other day. my weight went down to 150 the DAY I went on vacation.

I gained one pound and had lots of fun! :D BUT HERE IS THE THING it stuck like that ever since I got back! and now with birthdays, thanksgiving, and other celebrations it keeps going up then sticking. :[

should I up my calories AGAIN? Becuase I almost always get that hungry feeling when I go to sleep and inbetween meals and with all the exercise I think my body thinks Im starving it and it needs to hold on to everything I eat. But thats what I think. :P

During vacation I walked ALLOT like 10-15 miles a day so thats probably why my body thinks its starving.

Also I cant do soccer anymore so Im slightly less active. but not by much if I do some home workouts.

so what do you thinkI should do that would help me, food choices would be greatly welcomed! Laughing

Everybody has plateaus during dieting as your body adapts, not only to your caloric intake, but to your calorie levels as well.  I don't know that increasing your calories from 1500/day would be helpful at this point, but switching up your workouts may be more beneficial.  Try biking if you can.  If you're walking that much perhaps you could try jogging a bit during your walks in turn it into more of a circuit.  Recent studies have shown that alternating walking, and running during a workout can be more effective for most people.  This means increasing you speed intermittently at 5 minute intervals to a higher level of perceived exertion (the level at which you can talk, but maybe feel a little winded), then back to a level where you can carry on normal conversation during the workout and alternating between the higher and lower intensity.  You may, also, want to add some resistance training (weights, bands if weights aren't available) .  One thing I do that seems to keep my metabolism in check is that I eat 1200-1300 calories a day every day, but one day a week.  Then I eat 1800 calories that one day, and it seems to keep me on track.  Good luck.

Sorry Im lost,,,, how many calories are you eating right now?

As a 15 year old, you should be eating at least 1500-1800 calories, because you are still growing! You need a lot more than an adult needs because you have a faster metabolism.

You're a healthy weight if you're 5'8".  If you're 15 (years old?) then you're probably still growing as well.  If you're young and active you need energy to function properly.  So you need to fix on getting good nutrition for a healthy life rather than trying to calorie-count yourself thin.  1500 is still way too low.  You say yourself you're feeling hungry and if you're hungry, you should eat.  Assuming you're female you should aim for about 2300-2500 cals a day and get your metabolism back up to speed.

I remember being 15.  Personally, I was a little chubby since I was still growing.  Give yourself time to go through all the joys of puberty.  It'll change without you probably doing much of anything.
