What's your calorie intake?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!Smile

Yeah, I am just curious on what everyone's calorie intake is and if they are losing weight on that much. Mainly because I need motivation, and to reassure myself that I am not eating too many calories a day. ALSO, it's interesting!

(I eat 1500 , I am 125lbs now, 5'3'', and I want to lose weight the healthy way. I know someone is going to ask my stats lol.)

Have a great day!

I take in about 1500-1700 a day.  I'm losing about 1 pound a week.  I'm 5'4'' cw 145 gw 130.

I'm 5' 3.5"  and eat between 1300-1400 a day... losing about 1-2 lbs a week or so.

Im 5'8" and eat around 1500 calories a day.

Im just starting so we'll see if I lose.

I'm 26, 5'8", 133 and I eat 1200-1500.  I have only lost about 5 pounds in the past 8 months :(.  I usually have one cheat day a week, but I NEVER go over 2000-2500 calories.  I'm supposed to be burning 1700 calories a day (sedentary), but I think my metabolism stinks because I should weigh less by now.

I'm supposed to be burning 1400 while doing crap all all day. Ends up being 2200 all day though. That seems a bit high and I feel like I should be losing weight as well! I usually have one small cheat thing a day. Some days it's a small hot chocolate, maybe a piece of chocolate, or a slice of cheese or something ...Innocent That and I cheat every Friday.

What do people mean by cheat day though? To me it's a beer and pizza lol, or is that "over the top" and should be like "have some cheese on your vegan burger" type of thing ......

LOL, I wonder that sometimes myself.  A cheat day for me is a day where I eat whatever I feel like eating and I don't precisely calorie count (although I keep an estimated running total in my head still).  I've never had a "binge", so I don't go crazy even on my cheat days.  I guess for me a cheat day is usually eating a few hundred more than my maintenance (1700).

Ahh, I don't ever binge as well, which I am very proud of!. I also keep a count in my head on such days. Well, sometimes I would eat very little during breakfast and lunch (maybe 150 each! O: ) and "cheat" on supper. I guess I still go over, but not by too much. You never know how many extra drinks you'd be having afterwardWink

Wow! You gys are lucky!

I eat around 1050 - 1100 a day and I definately don't loose a pound a week. I usually loose 1% fat a month though, sometimes 2%. AND I go to the gym 6 days a week.

What are you guys doing that I'm not???

We're eating in a manner that allows our metabolisms to function rather than slow down. Remember that human beings haven't been in industrial society for long and how we're geared (created or evolved is your call) is for survival even in the face of famine. When we get too few calories (i.e. your 1050 - 1100) our bodies slow things down to help us weather the bad times and save our precious fat stores for when things get even worse.

I have had plateau or gain weeks exclusively when I eat too little. To lose weight over the past week, I had to increase my calorie intake from 1200 - 1300 to 1500 - 1700. After I did that, I dropped another 1.8 pounds.

There is so much on this site about careful calorie balancing. I hope you'll take the time to read around and consider upping your calorie intake to a healthier level. I suggest searching the forums for the 3 million posts on "starvation mode" for more and better put information.

Hmmm...thanks. I'll check it out. My doctor was the one who told me to eat 1000-1100 since I was plateauing. I guess it goes slower the closer you are to your goal weight. I only have 3% more body fat to loose and I'm impaitent! :)

I eat 1200-1300 calories a day, so far i'm sticking to it and I don't feel like i'm denying myself of anything.. although i have given up on alcohol, as i would really rather eat my calories than drink them.

I am trying to loose 40lbs to reach my goal weight of 140-150lbs and i'm hoping i get there.
