Whats your daily exercise and eating regime!?
I thought it woulod be kinda cool to learn more about how people of different ages exercise, lose/maintain weight and eat! So basically say your age, height, current weight. Then how many calories you eat and what you do for exercise each day!
I'll start. I'm 5'6, 18, approx 136lbs (in the morning). I eat around 1400 cals a day. Then I bike my butt of on my stationary bike for about 80+ minutes a day so I burn around 600+ calories a day.
just thought i'd let you know that you're opening yourself up for many attacks by posting that on here, at 18 you should be using the teen calculator for your intake, and not consume less than 1500 calories each day. so you're overexercising for the amount you're consuming and in any case should not be eating less than 1500.
i am 4'11, soon to be 21, very petite and eating 2000 on less intense workout days.
I don't really care what people have to say about me. I just thought it was a new idea to do this post. Anyways I'm eating less now so I can lose weight but it doesn't seem to be working I'm adding calories now but I'm still gaining/maintaining weight.
try changing up your workout! when you bike 80+ minutes for so long everyday... your body becomes used to the activity and actually burns less calories doing the activity. add sprints, hills, resistance to your biking. maybe do a 30 minute run then bike 50 minute. try a kickboxing class. add in a weight circuit. when you change things up your body gets surprised!
i'm 18 soon to be 19, 5'7, 115lbs. I eat anywhere from 1500 calories (rest days) to 2300 calories a day. I do 60 minutes of any combination of cardio (spinning, running, elliptical, stairs) 6 days a week and a a 15-20 minute weight circuit 3 times a week and abs the other 3 days i don't do weights.
I'm 23, 5"8, 129 lbs, 16% body fat. I eat anywhere from 1700-2100 cals a day (try to anyways, usually slip up and eat more once a week or so). I workout 6-7 days a week. I lift 4-5 days a week and do some kind of cardio everyday whether it be a spin class, HIIT, disntance running, rowing machine, or the stairmaster. Try to eat 30-40% of cals from protein and only eat low GI complex carbs (vegetables, whole grains).
That 80 min you spend biking could be spent much more productively if you spent half of it weight training and the other half doing high intensity cardio. -- just a suggestion :)

That is awesome! How long do you spen at the gym eash day?? Do you go in the AM or PM? I am trying to get into a better schedule but having trouble.
Depending on what I do I spend anywhere from 45 min - 2 hours at the gym. Usually more like an hour fifteen. I prefer to to in the evening but I really just go whenever i can fit it in becasue I'm pretty busy. I used to go every morning at 5:30 am, I think I might have to go back to doing that this summer because I am going to be working long hours and late nights so if I don't get it in early it prob won't happen. Just have to find what works for you. :)
Hey I also do cycling classes (which for me I think comes to about 600 burned) and I'm finding I'm pleatauing at 1500 cals a day. But my sedentary food intake should be 1300. What gives? Not enough cals? What are your guys' thoughts on zig zagging?
Well im doin OK ish, u all sound where i wanna be lol
im 5ft5 ish, 22 (just gone....depressin lol) and currently weigh 170lbs eek. im a heavy person as at my thinnest I only managed to get down to 144lbs but this time my goal is 140lbs so im goin with that lol.
I eat between 14-1500 a day (if im brutally honest some days its 1300 and at weekends im occasionally reaching 2000) however in 2 weeks ive lost 8lbs....water weight etc i know. Im just goin slowly not panickin too muhc about the odd 2000kcal as it leaves room for cuttin down further the nearer i get to my goal. Currently im workin out 3-5days a week doin mainly cardio to shifts some fat before concentratin on tonin. I do between 20-30mins....i am goin on my lunch break and i only get 45mins.
Im aimin to introduce a class or swimming once a week and go up from there but currently this is workin well for me.
hopin il reach my goal by end of august but i feel it will get extremely difficult the closer i get lol
WELL DONE to everyone btw, encouragement keeps me goin dunno bout anyone else. xx
At 18, and at 21 I weighed 130. I ran, biked, swam competitively and rowed. I am 5'6.5" and now I am 41 and weigh 153. I still run, not as frequent. Metabolism slows down with age. Hoping to find a balance and lose some weight.
I am 5'10'' 23 years old and weigh 147.5. I do 1.5 hours of power yoga 4x a week, run 3-6 miles 2-3x a week, lift 1-2x a week, and rest 1 day a week. I try to eat between 1300 and 2000 cals a day depending on how hungry I am.
I'm 5'8" and I eat around 1400 cals a day. Currently I don't have time to exercise at all (AP exams, finals, it's waaaay stressful) but when I do I usually go biking, like I'm about to go do now. I also do stomach toning exercises to get ready for summer.
sheesh, im up at 6 for work, how do you all have the time or energy to spend so long working out and almost all of you do it daily too?
I am 2 weeks from being 30, 5'2" and currently 172lbs. I just hit my 20lbs lost mark this week!
I am a professional chef and going on a diet has been quite a feat for someone who works around food all day. I eat aprox. 1500 cals a day. I usually eat a large breakfast of about 400 cals and then I take a banana and a Special K or Fiber One bar to work with me. (This helps to keep my metabolism going and keep me from snacking) Because of my job I have to taste everything that I am preparing. TASTING and snacking are two different things! However, I still do my best to track cals as I taste. So at work I typically take in about 300-400 cals. When I get home I jog 3-4 miles and then prepare a meal of about 500 cals. This allows me a 100 cal snack or two if necessary in the evening but I try not to eat less than 3 hours before I go to bed.

I am up at 6:30 every morning as well and sometime do not leave work until 5:30pm. When I get home I immediately put on my workout clothes and excercise because I know if I sit down I am done for! I actually find that after a 30-min jog I feel revitalized from a long grueling day at work.
lol, ELIZA- 30 mins of jogginf after work? idk, i hate jogging! ugh, i hate being lazy! i still dont know how someone could do hrs or whatever, i try for 30-30 mins on most, not every day, try, lol
Age - 66
highest weight - 225
current weight - 165
Goal weight - 140
Since I'm forced to be sedentary because of physical problems, my burn is only 1750. I've been losing consistantly on 1400 calories, very slowly, which is fine with me. I lose about 2 pounds a month. It's taken me 3 years to get to my current weight. I chart my progress in my profile.
My diet is based on the food pyramid system, with a base of whole grains, vegetables and fruits, plenty of legumes and more limited amounts of fish and poultry, and very little red meat. I do eat 4 eggs a week. I use fat free or low fat dairy products. Each day I make sure I get something from all the food groups.
My exercise consists of 15 minutes of upper back and neck stretches and mobility exercise, 10 minutes of standing balance exercise prevent falls, a 20 minute walk (slow stroll really) and some days about 45 minutes of light gardening with no heavy lifting involved. If I do this it raises my burn to about 1860. Most days I only achieve part of it.
Right now I'm going through a challenging time because of a thyroid problem. I'm trying to maintain until my levels are even. As it is, I feel hungry all the time and my metabolism is at a crawl. However, I'm on medication and I'm told it's going to take a few months to get it all where it's supposed to be.

i would like to compare the 2 approaches, clearly claire is going for the slow and steady, sustainable weight loss. this is a healthy approach. consuming 1400 calories while sedentary, is still yielding a loss each week. sometimes i think people might overdo it, and they restrict their calories to an unnecessary amount and add exercise on top of it. if you're working out, you should still try to consume enough calories that you aren't dipping below your bmr...so consuming 1400 and burning 600 only gives your body 800 for its basic metabolic functions, which is not enough. your body learns to adapt and it metabolizes muscle in addition to fat to get this energy which is not productive. i'm not trying to criticize anyone harshly or seem all high and mighty but it's really not necessary to take drastic approaches in diet and exercise to reach your goals. i think CLAIRELAINE is a good illustration of that approach!
35, 5ft 6, 185 lbs, eat around 1500-1800 calories per day, walk for minimum 6 miles per day (2 hrs - 3 miles to work and 3 miles home again), sometimes up to around 12 miles a day (walk in the evening with hubby). Losing around 2-3 lbs per week consistently.
Yo! I'm 21 years old, am only 4ft 10.5inches and weigh 100lbs. I'm currently training for a 1/2 marathon and eat around 1,900calories per day. I run 3-4 times a week, alternating the distance and intensity I run for. My runs (anywhere from 10k-21k) last anywhere from 60 - 100minutes, at an intensity of an average 6mph. On my days off from running, I cross-train by swimming, biking, hiking, weight training and doing calisthenics.
