What's the deal with this group?
It's verrrrrrrrrrrry quiet in here.
It is!!!!!! most groups i've added or visited been quiet! Not married but got a kid and trying to lose pounds fast!
It seems like as soon as the Groups started no one is talking anymore. I use to read a 40 something post everyday and there were tons of entries and now everything is drying up except my weight. LOL
Good luck to all!!!
I've noticed that in most of my groups too! Let's mix it up in here and get the convo going again!!
I just got married in September of this year and am still living in newlywed bliss :)
Most of my weight gain came PRE-WEDDING but post-relationship with the hubby. As soon as we moved in together, I turned into a balloon!! Apparently eating everything/the same portions that the hubs eats is NOT the correct way to lose weight :)
But since then, I've wised up. At my heaviest last August, I was @ 204 and am now in the mid-180's.
I'd love to hear your stories as well! I'm finding alot of inspiration on the boards to keep with it. I want a long healthy life with my hubs --- and who doesn't want to be a hottie wife?? :)
Hello! I'm new to this group. My name is Beth. I also recently got married, Jun 2008. My husband and I don't currently live together (job thing) but we're both losing. I've lost about 17 since March but still want to lose some more. This thing says I could lose 34 by next July. I was logging in what I ate in Slimfast.com but like that this one you can also put exercise and it calculates them together.
Hope you are all doing well. I'm off til tomorrow (Veteran's Day) and just saw Tyler Perry's latest movie, THE FAMILY THAT PREYS. I haven't seen one of his movies that I haven't liked --- Why did I get Married, Meet the Browns, etc. I haven't seen any of the Madea ones.
Take care, Beth
I am new to the group. I've been married almost 7 years, with two little ones. The thing that is the hardest for me is eating right. I know what I should eat, but when the food that my husband wants is all around then I find myself snacking. The best luck I had was after my first child & my husband ate what I ate.
I am new to the group as well. I've been married 6 years (it will be 7 in March), and I have 1 little boy who is 2 years old. I joined CC in January (I think) of 2008 to maintain the weight that I had lost. My husband has a Great Metabolism and can eat whatever he wants while I have to work at it. I Love him, I love him, I love him but I envy him at the same time. He comes home from work and eats Pizza, Popsicles, Pumpkin Pie with Cool Whip, and Ice Cream all in about a 45 minute time period yet he is still a bean pole!!! LOL!!! I am not exagerating either for those of you who are thinking NO WAY!!! It's like that slim-quick commercial with the man, woman, and the dog. LOL!!! Anyway I look forward to getting to know you guys!!!![]()
Hi all! I'm new here. I've been married 4 years and have a 4 month daughter. I've been a CC member for a few years, but just recently got back into it. I gained over 40 pounds with my first pregnancy and needed to get that off. Now that I'm done with that I'd like to lose an additional 11.
Being married and having a new baby is tough! Hubby and I have fought WAY more than usual lately. I always feel like he's not doing as much as I am. Sigh.
Hey Everyone! I've been with CC before, but not since the facelift. I'm using CC for maintenance and because my trainer asked me to start counting calories again.
I've been married for 4 years and 4 months. :) Both my husband and I enjoy working out. We try to go to the gym daily or at least every other day. We are a busy couple but make time for our fitness. The hardest thing for me can be controlling my sweet tooth. :P
My husband and I have been married for 2yrs, and one of the things that has made my decision to lose weight difficult is that we both love to dine out as much as possible. He eats about 1.5x the portion sizes that I do and I fell into the habit of eating what he ate too. But now I'm trying to correct that. Both him and I have lost significant amounts of weight over the past 6months (me 20 him 40) and we're trying to lose more. Also, he prefers to eat red meat all of the time and is very skimpy on his intake of veggies and fruits. I mean, he prefers Coke to water or any other beverage. Any suggestions? I need to help him kick his smoking habit to and I'd like us both to be caffiene-free by the end of this year. Any suggestions?
Have any of you tried shrinking your stomachs?
I go to a military academy, and when we do summer training in the fields, they feed us crappy MREs. After three years of prepackaged food that's designed with a shelf life of 100 years, you get sick of eating it pretty quick. So I'd go for about three weeks eating the bearable portions of the meal, and throwing out the majority of it. The first thing I do every time I get back from training is hit up Chili's or Friday's and order a tender, juicy steak - REAL food! ^_^ But a girl who was once able to finish a full rack of ribs, I found myself struggling to finish a 6 oz filet mignon.
This happens everytime I go for a time without food (also easy to do at school, since I eat breakfast and lunch in the mess hall - again, 3 years + same crap = no appetite no matter HOW starving I was before I walked through the door). I've concluded that my stomach simply shrinks to accomodate the smaller portions, so that, when I finally get something yummy, I can't finish it all 'cause I get too full much quicker.
It's actually more of a blessing than it seems (three years ago I would have questioned my mental and physical health). I've learned that a 6 oz steak when I eat out with my fiance is enough to satisfy me, so I order accordingly. Hell, at Chili's, where their smallest sirloin is 9 oz, I've learned that if I suffer through everyone else eating their appetizers without touching a bit, I'll have JUST enough room to eat the steak and nibble on the sides. I've even learned to limit the food I put in my mouth to make room for desert afterwards (Chocolate Molten Brownie! My heaven on earth!).
Since my motivation is more having-the-room-for-the-yummier-foods (when picking between mozerella sticks and the last few bites of the steak-to-come, the steak wins, every time), it feels less like a diet - less like I'm controlling my foods. It's not a chore, it's a decision between cheese and steak, steak and brownie, do I want a snickers or a milky way?
i am new to the group and like hearing about other people with the same difficulties. i was a full time reservist for four years and saying that my life style was athletic would be an understatement. i needed about 5000 cals per day just to keep my weight . when i left the military life i also got married within 6 months. i continued to eat 5000 calories a day but i wasn't as active any more and i went from 140 lbs to about 260 lbs in 2 years. i am down to 180 now but i haven't dropped a pound in over a year and i am still over weight.
any help with dieting or even just navigating this site would be helpful. thanks
so then here we are in the battle of the buldge and marriage either helps you or hurts you..why is that men dont really care what they look like and most wives go crazy if they gain weight..eventually u get old and flab appears and unless u have tons of money for lippo it not going to get pretty so am just happy right now and marriage is like working out if you dont work on it, its get old and flabby...hahahahah!
It is pretty quiet in here!
I've been married for two years - I gained most of my weight in the last 12-18 months and have been struggling with some health issues. Overall it has really depleted my self-esteem but and re-motivated to lose the weight. The challenge in my household is that my husband is really thin and can eat whatever he wants - candy, fattening foos like pizza and Doritos, etc and he never gains weight. He has a 30" waist. So. I am trying so hard to be healthy and he has really no incentive to be healthy because he cholestral (sp?) is never effected either. So, it's a challenge but I am trying so hard to stick with this.
Week 2, and several more to go! Here's to sticking with the program!
I've been married 1.5 years and gained most of my weight in the last 12 months...I think I got really comfortable. I haven't been struggling with health issues, but I have always struggled with self-esteem.
Prior to falling off the wagon, I logged my calories and activities religiously. Most of my results were in the form of toned muscles and clothes that fit well. I was really stuck on the weight number, so even then, I struggled with self-esteem. I fell off when my husband switched jobs and I lost my free gym membership. Money was tight for a few months, so I didn't join a new gym. I kept making excuses why I couldn't work out at home. I don't know why, but it takes a gym membership for me to get going.
I would consider myself to be pretty active, but I think it's the eating that is killing my figure - I'm definitely a little squishy around the middle. I'm tired of feeling sorry for myself, so I have a gym membership and rejoined this site. I'm ready to make some progress!
