can anyone think of a completely amazing-out-of-this-world-to-die-for cake?
on every one of my birthdays (even when i was one and it ended up on the carpet) ive had a different kind of cake or pie, usually being a specialty of a country. unless you count one year being a ding-dong with marshmellows and a candle in it.

so whatd you have this year?!

I always have an angel food cake :)  It's my absolute favorite kind!
my absolute favorite is out of the box chocolate cake with vanilla frosting! sorry it's not very creative!
My birthday cake has often been a family favorite molasses cake (the family calls it gingerbread, but it's a molasses cake). Served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, even better. But I love it plain, warm out of the oven...

For my birthday, my sister makes me a banana cream pie.  She'll use a graham cracker crust and put hardened chocolate on the bottom.  So good.

For my work's Holiday Party I made Kraft's (www.kraftfoods.com) Chocolate Banana Heaven Cake.  I didn't like the cream cheese frosting that comes with the recipe and I replaced the coffee with hot chocolate.  The cake itself was one of the most amazing cakes I had ever eaten.  It was like eating really moist chocolate banana bread.

Maybe you noticed, I like the chocolate and banana combination.

When I crave cake I want yellow cake w/chocolate frosting. Hell of old-school.
angel food cake is wonderful <33 and id never complain about any cake, from a box of not lol
luvtraveling- ive never tried a molasses cake. sounds good though, why do they call it gingerbread?

atech! chocolate and bananas belong together, i know what you mean. last year we made a twisted dark chocolate marble with bananas on top. so amazing.

does anyone know what red velvet cake is? people sure do talk about it a lot.

I eat more angel food cake, because it's healthier. And tasty. especially with almost any kind of fruit.

The molasses cake is a fairly dense, sticky cake. And ginger is one of the spices used in it. So my mom somehow grew up calling it gingerbread. The recipe is from her grandmother.

They didn't ask what the healthiest cake was...they asked what your FAVORITE was.

French Silk, without a doubt is amazing. Whether it's strawberry OR chocolate.

My mom's double layer birthday cake (Duncan Hines Devils food with chocolate frosting).
Theres a place in my hometown called just desserts that ONLY make cakes.  I havent had it in years, but they do an amazing raspberry chocolate torte, totally covered with chocolate ganache. its amazing. they cost a fortune though!!!
flourless chocolate cake with this really decadent thin glaze. YUUUUMMMMMMMM

There's a place here that has a chef's special dessert (for one month at a time) in addition to their regular stuff.  One time it was a pumpkin cheesecake, with a graham type of crust that also had candied nuts in it, and topped with whip cream and chocolate.  It was the best thing i've ever tasted and now it's gone :(

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting....OMG
raspberry chocolate torte. that sounds lovely too.
and jillmenow- that seems like something id get to eat only in my dreams. wish i could try it!

im going to get some ice cream to ward off this awful sweet tooth im getting =]
Barefoot Contessa's Beatty's Chocolate Cake. Its is absolutely amazing. I always make it (for every holiday and any special occassion) and everyone in my family loves it. Everyone MUST try this and its not hard to make at all.

flourless chocolate / molten lava cake

Uuuuuuugh, as a former cake-decourator who still occassionally whips up a bad-ass cake, I dislike cake.  A lot.  I didn't really liek it to begin with which is what makes me a great decourator; I won't eat my project.

If I really had to pick one it would be my cream cheese and raspberry angel food cake.  It's relatively low in fat and sugar.

Funfetti!!!!!!!!!!
