What's your favorite workout DVD and why?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm currently living in Africa, and gained weight (believe it or not lol...they eat a lot of carbs and I wasn't used to it) so I want to take it off.  I brought about 10 workout DVD's with me to use since there is no gym here, but I don't "love" any of them now that I've been doing them.  It's expensive to send stuff here (though a dvd in a padded envelope wouldn't be really bad I guess), and I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer so I don't have a lot of extra $$ to spend on "frivolous" things like dvds, but wouldn't mind getting a couple more.

So what is your favorite DVD and why?  I need something that does NOT require equiptment - the most I have are some cans of beans I can use for very light hand weights!

If you don't want to worry about shipping costs, there are many places on the internet to view workouts online - just google "online workout videos" - some are even free.

As for actual DVDs, I started out with Tae Bo, which has quite a few routines that don't require any equipment, and the Turbo Jam in the "5 rockin' workout" package doesn't require equipment either (although Turbo Sculpt does have better results with dumbbells).  I like both of them because they vary the moves, there is decent music, and I find the instructors to be motivating.

Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred.. quick effective work out! and the cans would be fine for the weights.

Buns of steel, and richard simmons... lawl ^.^

I started with Turbo Jam and then went to Hip Hop Abs. I really liked both of them. There's a lot of variety and I didn't get bored.

I just started P90X at the beginning of the year - my New Year's resolution. I'm an Independent Beachbody Coach so I get a discount on Beachbody exercise videos. Even with the discount, P90X is pricey. A tremendous investment if you get a chance to buy it. It's a cliche, but I'm feeling muscles that I have never felt before.

Good luck with your goals!

The one that was the longest lasting DVD I enjoyed was Carmen Electra's Striptease workout. It's fun and you feel sexy when your finished. After awhile of doing it, i did it for my hubby and he enjoyed it as well! Very easy to follow, and if you don't have a lot of privacy - its not very provocative unless you have the sexy attitude. I also really enjoy Yoga too, but I haven't tried any DVD's for it. I just happen to catch it on FitTV. They also have a lot of awesome reciepes on that website too. Google FitTV =) Hope it helps!

Zumba is a great workout that feels like a dance party! Zumba is a latin dance workout and features many forms of dance such as Flamenco, Salsa, and Reggaton. A few friends and I get together to do the Zumba dvds and we have such a great time laughing and dancing together. It's too fun!! Best of luck to you!

My favorite is Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred... good workout, easy to follow and it gets results.  I'm not coordinated, so I don't like all of those jumping around and cheesy dancing dvd's.  I like Jillian's because she gets right to business and it uses hand weights too.

ChaLEAN Extreme and any of the Turbo Jam videos!

Prevention: Belly, Butt & Thighs. It's a 30min workout thatallows you to work your trouble areas either in a full 30min work out or single out one or two at 10 min each. No "equipment" is needed for it to be effective, but if you want to "amp" it up, you can use hand weights. It works perfect for me between work, school and my son, I can always usually, either in the morning or night, make time for a quick 10min work out. PLUS it's only like $10 at Wal*Mart, so in most cases you can pick it up 24hrs a day LOL :) ...hope that helps.

What are the odds of this, but I am about 99% sure that Prevention Dvd is the same one I have and used to use all the time. The only reason I don't anymore is my boyfriends brother lives with us and I'm a little self conscious about doing it in the middle of our living room.. but it's pretty fun, fast, and I could always feel it the next day... especially the 10min abs bit.

I was askign that same exact questions. you got some good respnses.

im gonan get the butt and thighs one and the jillian micheals($6 on sale online at walmart)
