Here are a few of mine:

?We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.?  - Marianne Williamson, made famous by Nelson Mandela.

?If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.? - unknown.

"Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe, you have to let go of who you are to become who you will be." - Carrie, Sex and the City

One of my friends just got me a magnet that says: "I can resist everything but temptation". Oscar Wilde. I think that goes down as one of my favvorites. Also, "Look for the ridiculous in everything and you will find it" Augusteen Burroughs. I love that as I try to view things in a humourous light on a regualr basis!

BTW, I am a huge Sex and the City fan as well--love Carrie!
I think that it is such a fantastic show! I love the characters, the outfits, the men! Ha. I think most women our age (or at least most single women) can relate to that show, or one of the characters.

I see your from brooklyn - spend much time in Manhattan? I've never been to New York but I'd really like to. A highschool friend lives there, so it would be cool to visit him. It also just occured to me that perhaps i should make running the NYC Marathon (or maybe just a half marathon) my running goal!
Hey Sadie - your second quote is by William Arthur Ward.  Just don't ask me *who* he is.

I like this one...

"Optimism is the foundation of courage."  ~Nicholas Murray Butler
cool! thanks cheatingirl!
"If you feel like giving up... think about why you held on for so long..."

keeps me going =)
Rise up in splendor! Your light has come,

the glory of the Lord shines upon you.

Isaiah 60:1
Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right. (can't remember the author)

When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion. -Abraham Lincoln
Hey Sadie,

I am in Brooklyn and I hit Manhattan once in awhile. I always worked there until recently--now I work in Bklyn near where I live. It is fun here=you should visit as it is dfeinitely an experience! I am actually going to LA this month and I am pretty psyced about that as I have never been there! My friend and I were talking about the marathon as well--I think it would take me awhile to get into that good of a shape to do it! LOL! Like in a few years? Good luck!
I love quotes...

As far as motivational quotes go, though...hmm....ah, yes...:: grins :: Sir Winston Churchill: "If you're going through hell, keep going!"

but you know those posters?  they've got this x-men cartoon series at office depot, and one of them has Wolverine coming /out/ of the poster, almost like he's ripping through the paper, and it says: "Some people wish for it to happen.  Some want for it to happen.  Other's tear down the walls of resistance and make it happen!"
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Mine is a whole poem, but I believe it to be the one thing that keeps me going not only with my goal but everything else in life:

"
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow -

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup;

And he learned too late when the night came down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,

It might be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."

Heheheeee!! Yes, yes, I'm in love with that poem =]
Ah, Morgaine, I love that poem! It's on our refrigerator! I love quotes....*sigh* but I'll restrict myself to just a few ^_^

"Everything's okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end." --unknown

"The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible" --Arthur C. Clarke

"Act like you will live forever; LIVE like you will die tomorrow." --Stephen Peterson
I have this posted on my fridge and read it many times a day!  "The more I like me....the less I want to pretend to be other people." by Jamie Lee Curtis
Dear God,

I want to thank you for being close to me so far this day.

With your help I havent been impatient, lost my temper, been grumpy, judgemental or envious of anyone!

But I will be getting out of bed in a moment and I think I am really gonna need your help!

Amen
"Change the way you look at things, and the things around you change..." Author Unknown
Dear God,

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept and the wisdome to hide the bodies of those I had to kill today because they got on my nerves.

Also, help me to be careful of the toes I step on today, as they may be connected to the feet I have to kiss tomorrow.

May I always give 100% at work. 12% on Monday, 23% on Tuesday, 40% on Wednesday, 20% on Thursday and 5% on Friday.

And help me to remember when I am having a bad day and it seems that people are trying to wind me up, it takes 42 muscles to frown, 28 to smile and only 4 to extend my arm and smack someone in the mouth!!

Amen
