whats a good weight for a tall athlete?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm female, 5'8", and I weigh 126 pounds. I run for at least 40 minutes a day at 6-9 minute mile pace (depending on how hilly the run is). I also work all day at a children's day camp and do at least 250 situps a day. Is 126 pounds a healthy weight or do I need to lose/gain more?

That seems like a healthy weight to me, however I'm sure most of the people here will tell you otherwise and start ranting about starvation mode.
If you were a guy and were playing football the weight would be a different story.

Basically don't worry about your weight. you need to train to get stronger and faster, and have more endurance for soccer.

the weight number means little.

you can try some resistance training to make yourself stronger, especially your lower body, and definitely work your core because doing that is the most important thing you can do training-wise.

good old fashioned push ups are great for that.

for soccer, I would do long distance runs for endurance training, coupled with sprints for speed training. We used to run with a friend and a harness for football to gain power and a burst.
