What's a good workout for the hips and butt?

I'm 14, 5'5" and 131 pounds. I've lost so far 8 pounds but I really want to get into the 125 lb zone. I don't eat a lot of bad fruit and have been watching what I eat. My stomach is flat and I can see my abs coming through. But my problem is my butt and thighs. What are some really good exercisers that will help with that area?
Answer
The most effective exercises for toning the muscles of the butt and hip area are the hip extensions, squats, step-ups, lunges, and vertical leg presses. But any physical activity that engages the glutes, such as bicycling, inline skating and hiking, will help to tighten the area well.
