I eat oatmeal w/ just little (like 1-2 tsp.) brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon and a splash of nonfat milk, like, every morning and it's so much more filling than cereal for just over 200 calories! Plus, you can make it in so many different ways it never gets boring.
As for the cereal, if you really want it, try eating plain cheerios. That's only 110 cal/per cup and you can sweeten it up a bit by adding some fruit (I add 1/2 a sliced banana.)
Oh, and here's another breakfast I love- muesli! Just take some light n' fit vanilla yogurt (80 cal/cup) add 1/4 of oats and put it in the fridge for 30 min. Then take it out and add 1/2 a shredded apple or pear, some raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It's so good and right around 250 cal.
Eggs are great, too! We always replace some of the whole eggs with just the whites to keep the fat content and calorie content lower. Try eating scrambled eggs w. salsa and a whole wheat tortilla. Again right around 200 cal.
I usually have a serving of oatmeal, and then some scrambled egg whites with a slice of deli turkey cut up in it with a cup of tea (about 250 calories depending on how many egg whites you use)
OR
I'll have oatmeal, a hard-boiled egg, and an apple (about 300 calories)
OR
sometimes I make a smoothie (dannon light n fit yogurt, a cup of strawberries, 1/2 cup milk, lots of ice) and add a cup of cheerios or special k after its blended up (about 250 calories) you can always add a banana in there too...but itll take it up about 110 cals, or if you want some protein I like to mix in light tofu sometimes which only adds about 30 cals
All of those keep me full for a while though
I too can eat alot of cereal, so I just avoid it at all costs... no matter what.
I think you could stick to maybe a hard boiled egg, and some oatmeal or toast.
or a scrambled edd, or egg beaters or egg whites... just go with what works for you. if you KNOW that you'll eat a lot of cereal, just avoid it.
M-F i eat 1 packet of oatmeal and a sliced banana. Its about 250 calories. Even if I wanted to have more fruit with it, or some egg whites, itd still be about 400 calories.
Just do what works for you!! Good luck.
a good hot breakfast!!
I get pepper strips and chopped onions in frozen bags, so this actually comes out tasty and convenient
fry up some onions peppers mushrooms in a little butter flavored pam, negligible cals:
2 oz deli sliced ham 50 cals
optional: pickled jalapeno slices ( i like it hot)
when the veggies and ham are done, add 1/2 cup of eggbeaters, sprinkle on
1 oz of kraft fat free cheddar, and pop in a pre-heated 350 oven for about 15 to 25 mins, a little fresh salsa on top
mmm, mmmm
about 200 cals
I highly recommend the Quaker Oats Classic Oatmeal, it's far superior to anything else. ;-)
Seriously... 1 cup of Total Raisin Bran in 1/2 cup of skim milk should only put you back 200 calories and is really good for you.
How about an omlet then, using 1 whole egg and two additional egg whites, with sauteed onion, tomato, basil, and feta cheese? Throw in some broccoli if you like that in an omlet. Have a whole grain english muffin on the side with a small pat of butter. And yes, if you're really concerned about calories, leave off the feta and/or butter. But have some jam, nothing's more boring than dry toast or muffins!
Without the cheese and butter you can have this omlet and muffin breakfast for 300ish cals.

my fave breakfast at the moment is 2 slices of toast with 1tbsp hummus on each, sliced tomato on top with a sprinkling of garlic salt. The bread i use has 85 cal/slice so it comes to around 230 cal. You can even add in a yoghurt or a piece of fruit and still be under 300 cal :)
Oooh ... I'm going to try this!!!
