Whats going on inside my belly! Anyone else experience this?
I cant have gluten or lactose and keep it out of my diet as far as I am aware of but within the past week and a half everything I eat just sits very heavily in my stomach and Ive had a weird bloating that wont go away.
I was steadily losing around .5-2lbs a week until it happened and I could definitely feel that I wasnt losing and my belly staying swollen.
My stomach isnt exactly flat or anything but from a side view the very top under my ribcage is puffed out and kindof hard. This used to only happen later in the day as I would eat (and wouldnt, er, dispose of it yet) but now I wake up with this problem. Even drinking small amounts of water makes it bloat.
I have had issues with nausea for a few years, some months are better than others but its horrible right now. I want to eat but even thinking about food makes me gag. Nothing is passing through my system and when it does its not alot.
I know its not EXTREMELY low but normally I would have around 1200-1500 calories a day and now its hard to get in 1200 without gagging up a lung.
I dont know if Im still losing weight and all the bulk in my system is hiding it or if for some reason I am now stalling or gaining? What would cause this?
My diet has changed a little to where I wasnt eating many fruits or veggies but ALOT of oatmeal and ALOT of peanut butter for convienance and the dense caloric nutritionals. I really hate eating I dont enjoy it at all because of my nausea and allergies its more like a chore to me.
Can either of those (oatmeal/peanut butter) bulk up in your intestines and cause constipation?
In highschool when I was around 15 and had constipation problems and tried adding fiber powder to drinks but it only worsened the problem so Im afraid to try it now.
Sorry about the gigantic great wall of China text but I cant stand feeling like this I constantly want to break down and cry Im so uncomfortable.
Have you ever used a colon cleanser? I don't know what else to recommend. Hopefully someone else will have more insight.
I have not. I really would like to take something to just make me go already but Im afraid if I try and take laxatives or something of the sort Ill start relying on them and I would really like to be able to go without an aid.
If it keeps worsening Im really thinking about taking some regardless.
Thank you for your recommendation (:
you do know oats have gluten, right?
I would see a GI doc and see what they say.
if it continues for more than 2 weeks, see a doctor asap.
i have been doing way too much "googling" lately looking for help with a medical issue i am having, and fullness/hard stomach are main symptoms i have found for a few scary things. obviously in most cases it is probably just a minor/temporary issues, but definitely don't overlook it for too long.
i hope you feel better soon. ![]()

They never really gave me any problems before, Ive heard some people are okay eating them and some aren't depending on how sensitive they are to them
Maybe its the oats and Im more sensitive than I thought? ):

In about 4 days it will be the 2 week mark /:
Im making a doctors appt for tomorrow or sometime within the next few days.
What kind of things does it point to? Im sure its something minor in my case, or I hope so.
Thanks! And I hope whatever issues you're having clear up soon.
It just keeps getting worse and worse. I look 6 months pregnant by now and its not going anywhere, my belly is swollen and very, very painful.
I hope this is all something very minor and goes away as quickly as it came on.
I only managed 850 calories today and Im going downstairs to try to swallow some more but Im afraid my belly is going to split open.
Have you ever had an examination done on your belly/insides? (Don't have a dictionary, so I can't find the right words, but hopefully you understand).
I mean, if you're struggling with nausea and constipation, and has done it for years more or less, there's something wrong. You could try practicing trial and error regarding your intake - what makes you feel bad and what doesn't - but you need to be absolutely sure there's nothing wrong with your system before doing that!
So please see a doctor, and be sure to fill him in on all problems, so he won't just send you home telling you to eat fibres and drink water.
Don't force yourself to eat if it hurts, make that doctors appointment, and a few days with a low intake won't hurt you.. No one on CC is able to diagnose you, so please don't rely on this..
I wish you all the best.

You need to see a doctor asap. Are you having any bowel movements at all? Are you urinating regularly? This is not right, you could have any number of issues some of which are very dangerous. Don't try to self diagnose, get to a doctor today.
Go to your doctor immediately. You could have a blockage or worse and with these things, you shouldn't self-diagnose. In turn, a colon cleanse is a very dangerous thing to do, so avoid that (Dangers of Colon Cleansing). A laxative course might be okay in a normal circumstance (as in, 3 days as recommended by the packet) but as you've been suffering so long you need to go straight to the doctor, period.
I had a doctors appointment set for early today when I made the thread, I just made the topic to see if anyone else had experienced this and if so what had gone on with them.
sinev - I have had many CAT scans and MRIs before but completely regarding other problems. Never had an endoscopy or colonoscopy though.
Everytime I do trial and error it seems to eliminate more and more foods each time. It feels like soon Im going to be left with nothing but green beans and chicken, hah.
I saw my doctor earlier today, it was really busy so I didnt get to talk about the extent of my problems but she thinks I may have a large blockage of food that my bowels are trying to pass but just cant due to how much has added up. She wants to see me again before I go in for surgery on the 4th (unrelated) and to call her tomorrow to see how things are "moving" after following the prescription I was given.
Thank you for the best wishes.
dovelette - I saw my doctor today. I havent had a movement in around 5-6 days. I dont urinate as much lately because its hard for me to drink a normal amount of water without the bloat and pain but other than that it is normal.
Im not trying to self diagnose or anything, I was looking to see if anyone else had experienced anything similar.
lala - I feel like a broken record, haha. But yes I went to the doctor, I would never use these boards or an opinion of someone outside of practice to self diagnose but while I was waiting I was looking to see any similarities with any other posters.
My doctor thinks it may be a blockage and I have another appt in a few weeks if nothing clears up and to see if we can figure out my chronic nausea problem.
Thank you for all your replys.
I know this is quicked gross but from having back problems I was on a large amount of pain pills and well err they cause issues like that.
Warm prune juice is a great way to stimulate things.. If that does not work which it did not for my sis after she got hit by a car and was on pain meds they told her warm prune juice mixed with milk of magnesa. Tastes HORRIBLE. so I would suggest just downing it and staying near a bathroom.

They gave me warm prune juice whenever Im in the hospital and taking pain meds, nasty stuff. I can only imagine what it tastes like with megnesa in it!
I was prescribed some pretty heavy duty medicine that should have cleaned me out but I did two runs (hah, no pun intended there) and still nothing happened so I left a message on my doc's mobile as instructed if in didnt work.
I will try the prune juice and add magnesia in it if I can get some.
Thanks (:
The water thing is really going to mess with the poopage. You have to have water which hydrates the waste in the transverse colon, otherwise the waste just turns into a rock and cant pass normally. Having the blockage can cause pockets and even punctures in the descending colon. It sounds like you are suffering, I am suprised your doctor isn't going a little full force with this. Has he discussed having a colonic, or fiber, or hooking you up to an IV so you have fluid some other way... Getting dehydrated because you cant drink water without bloating in pain seems like it is only going to throw your body off worse. There are a lot of homeopathic ways to deal with this, milk thistle, etc.. but since it such a severe case I would harass the crap out of your Dr. until he does something.
hmm not to be gross again but have you tried "hydrating" from the other side? When my little sister was having a hard time they had her do that.. I heard the alternatives are NOT fun for teh sake of all our appetites i will not describe what would need to happen but yea....
maybe sucking on ice would help for getting water into your system it will be so little at a time that it may not bloat you. I remember when family friend for a gastric by pass thats what she had to do to hydrate because drinking to fast would be painful and make her sick.

I know I need to get in more water and I am desperatly trying to, Im consistently drinking as often as I can.
She said I should be taking fiber twice a day but only after the blockage (which is what I have, a blockage in my intestines) is cleared or it can worsen the bulk.
It has been more than extremely busy at the office the past few days so I havent been able to get in touch with her but Im going to call her mobile again in a few minutes.
Avoid anything with a laxative effect if you have a blockage or impaction, unless your doctor is supervising its use. That includes prune juice. I've only been impacted once before, and I needed suppositories to fix that. :\ But I was told quite sternly not to use laxatives while impacted because it could lead to rupturing.
Why're you having trouble with taking in enough water? I seem to have missed that one.
I will be sure to avoid them lala (: Sorry to hear you had to go through this before.
Anytime I take anything in, my stomach bloating becomes worse and more apparent. Even drinking little cups of water makes my belly puff out and it hurts. Its hard but Im trying to drink enough.
