Green Salad! There's a Kroger nearby that does a decent salad bar for about $5. I prefer Jason's Deli, but I can never find one nearby work. Wendy's Chili is about 330 for the big one, but that's all your cal's right there. a small chili and a salad with light dressing is less and more filling.
When I do the subway sub, I often get the footlong and stash the other half for dinner or lunch the next day to save a trip and a few dollars. It's high in carbs though, so I don't get it often.
I'm not all that fond of most frozen dinners, but lean cuisine has a few good ones I enjoy.
Progressio light soup, I think southwestern kind today, and a veggie delight salad from subway with vinegar as dressing... 200.
So for lunch today I'll have egg salad on an english muffin. I tend to eat light during the day 'cause when Alex is home, we both like to eat together and often go out to eat or make something really cool, so I save my calories for that.
And I agree with vmcbutterfly. While some studies say it's great to eat more in the morning and taper off, some people just don't like to eat a lot before the evening rolls around.
I had two small "lunches" today.
1 -
Baby spinach, 1 T unsweetened cranberries 1 T slivered almonds, 1 wedge Laughing cow = 113
2 -
Tuna, roasted veggies = 180
So all together, it was only...293.
And I'll be eating another "lunch" here in a bit when my coworker arrives with the daggon wraps he promised us, which lead to me eating lunches 1 and 2 because I was waiting. Grrrr.
today I had 4 small turkey meatballs in tomato sauce and a large green salad with light vinaigrette dressing. Dessert was 1/2 cup of peach yogurt. Later I'll have a banana for a snack.
I don't like eating the same thing all the time, so I make sure I have a variety of things in the freezer.
As an attempt to go lower carb (to lower my triglycerides), which is very hard to do for breakfast or dinner, I have gone for carb-free lunches.
I typically eat two servings of veggies, a serving of fruit, a serving of protein, and a serving of dairy. Typical lunches include:
sweet potato and carrots, tangerine, a few slices of ham, and a yogurt.
Carrots and a cucumber, an apple, a 4-oz cup of cottage cheese, and a low-fat turkey dog.
A yellow pepper, a cucumber, applesauce, a piece of string cheese, and some nuts.
My lunches are higher-calorie than you're going for - I typically aim for 500-700 calories - but it'd be easy to adjust.
I just finished my lunch. It was 425 calories.
Minute brown rice ready to go rice bowl (pop in the micro done in 1 min) 170 cal.
5 Oz can of Hormel 98% fat free breast of chicken chunks 125 Cal.
1 oz of Lay's new crackers in vegetable seasoning 130 Cal.
You could EASILY cut the calories by replacing the Lay's crackers. It's just what I had handy.
I love those cans of chunk chicken for lunch because they are so easy. And they are protein that's low fat.
See this topic. It list Lunches that are around 300 calories
