What's your motto?
I thought it would be fun - and well, motivating - to hear each other's weight loss mottos. So, what's yours?
Here's mine: "Progress has little to do with speed,
but much to do with direction."
but much to do with direction."
Oh cool! Okay, I thought up my own motto just now. It's:
"If you slip off the course, don't fret! Getting up from a fall is better than standing down!"
"If you slip off the course, don't fret! Getting up from a fall is better than standing down!"
It ain't over till you're dead.
There are more positive phrases out there, I'm sure..but my favorite teacher said this to me once, at it really stuck. ^__^
It's something I think of in regards to a lot of areas in my life, weight loss in particular. It was this thought that motivated me to even begin living healthier, because it's very true.
It's never too late to make changes, and even if I screw up and.. binge, let's say, it isn't the end of the world. I can still make this happen, as long as I'm living.

'The measure of success is not in how many times we pick ourselves up after falling, but in how often we can smile and carry on the same forward course after each obstacle.'
"50 for 50!"
(Am working on losing 50 pounds before I turn 50, a gift to myself and my aching knees.)

Not exactly weight loss motiviating, well maybe
but my motto has been borrowed from Shakespeare
To thine own self be true, than thoest cannot false to any man.
Basically it reminds me to be true to myself and not worry about other people, to listen to myself and what I really want, not just what I think I want.

Good lines! Thanks a lot you all. I?m copying them down.
This month, the words on my frig are: patience and faithfulness.

I'm an emotional eater so my mott has been "FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS DON'T FEED YOUR EMOTIONS". It is much betterto hacve a good cry or yell or whatever to get out any aggrevation you may have, than to stuff yourself then feel guilty. Then you feel bad again and eat again, it's a never ending cycle.
Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!
"Fight the good fight"
Meaning that being healthy is worth it. It is the "good fight". It takes constant dedication, commitment, stick-to-it-ness and an amazing amount of willpower to keep on the journey toward a healthier lifestyle. There are a lot of bumps along the path, but no matter how many times I stumble, trip or just fall flat on my face in perhaps what might be the most amazing nose dive in history... it is important to get up, dust myself off and keep moving forward one step at a time. To make small goals each and every day that continue to word toward the big picture goal of being healthier.

My motivational sayings for fat loss and goal-setting are as follows:
"Limits are for those who set them"
"The results from good nutrition are not gaged by what you eat today only, but what you eat today, tomorrow and each day after"
and...
"There's nothing to it, but to do it!"

You only live once, try everything...
Can this consitute as my weight loss motto? It's more of a life motto.

Heh.
Keep on swimming. Keep on swimming. Keep on swimming.
Or, for me,
Keep on jogging. Keep on jogging. Keep on jogging. :)

Haha, hk, I was about to type my 'motto': "Keep on truckin'." Yours sounds so much healthier though. =)
So yeah, either that, or the simple "You can do it." Not exactly huge, moving, motivational masterpieces, but they're what I've got.

Brilliant minds obviously think alike ;D
misoginy, I like that one, because my biggest problem is keeping the weight off after a while because after losing, I think to myself, ok, now I can go back to eating whatever I want! Not this time though, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet, so you are right, "It aint over 'till I'm dead!" Oh, and gert stole my motto!
" Mountain, get out of my way"
Because problems always look like mountains in our way and often times it's easier to just turn around and go back than it is to move a mountain, but once you tell the mountain to move...your obligated to do the work!

Very unoriginal I know but... "a moment on the lips a month on the hips"
One step at a time will eventually lead to miles.
Mine is "Nothing can stop me"
