What's "normal" for a 5'2" woman?
I'm 5'2.5", 27 years old, borderline small-medium bone frame. I don't have a solid goal weight, no less than 119 but preferrably no more than 125. And I weigh 218 as of this morning.
So here's my question to the ladies here who are about my height and around 120 lbs (y'know, give or take): about how many calories do you eat a day and what kinds of exercises/activities do you do?
I'm trying to re-learn what normal is (relatively speaking, anyway) and any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. (I already know what abnormal is; all I have to do is look at my log for just the past week.)
I'm 5'1", small bone frame and currently 118 (started at 136). I want to get to 115 and evaluate then if I want to go further to 110. I eat about ~1400-1500 calories per day. I run 5 days per week and do weights on my 2 non-running days.
i am 5'0 fluctuate between 108 and 110..wanna get down to 106. I eat about 1200 during the week and a little more on the weekend (about 1500). workout 5-6 days a week..interval training/cardio and weights. Shorties have it really hard and i come from very large people..let's be honest..my mom's side of the family are obese and then some so i have chosen to be extra diligent about being healthy since it is so easy for me to go the other way.
Maybe don't think in terms of 'eating less calories' just make them 'better". good protien, dark greens..berries. My biggest advice is really decide WHY you want to lose weight, because as you get closer to your goal (like me) you can start going a little crazy and become obsessed with a NUMBER as opposed to being happy with your new lifestyle.
I'm 5' 3.5". Medium frame. Currently weigh 123. I eat an average of 1700-2000 calories a day. I lift weights 3x a week and do high intensity interval training about 2x a week for about 20 minutes, and one longer slower jog once a week. I take one rest day. I eat 5 or 6 small meals a day.
Thanks for the replies!
Frankly, I'll be over the moon to be under 150 -- the lowest I've ever been as an adult is 154. But I'll keep an eye on the obsessiveness the lower I go.
Hey! I am 5'1 and I used to weigh 132 lbs just about 3 months ago, I think the key to actually losing weight is just changing your mindset a bit. Eat only when you are actually hungry, and that has been what has made me go down to 116 now in a matter of almost 3 months perhaps... My goal is 105, but it's just a goal and when I feel I look the way I want, I'll keep up my activities but stop cutting down my calories.
I probably eat, regularly in the past few months, around 1200 calories a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. I really didn't even have weight loss on the forefront of my mind during the time when I lost the most weight, but since I had shed 15lbs I'm now really taking this in my hands because I don't want to find myself back up at 132!
I think 110-120 is a good average weight for you. Though you can find all sorts of these ranges via internet that tell you according to your frame, height, age, etc...
Though here's something that sounds a bit not so diety, I do enjoy a big pizza for myself on weekends usually! If you keep refusing yourself those nummy things constantly, then you will find yourself craving them and just eating like a crazy person one day... So reward yourself with something delicious that you love, once a week. Then you will feel more satisfied and also it helps you not give up... At least, it works for me!
Hi Pompey ~ I am 5'0" and was 245lbs when I started my journey. I am now 131lbs and strong with beautifully toned muscles. My suggestions to you are to follow a HEALTHY lifestyle and mindset.
1 ~ eat balanced meals six times a day
2 ~ drink plenty of water
3 ~ exercise....cardio and strength training
4 ~ journal your food online (I do online and on paper every bite, every drink)
5 ~ keep a positive attitude
This can be accomplished. You will see results within the first four weeks. Take your beginning measurements and log them....they are valuable data. Take your 'before' photo....you will be amazed when you see the changes.
Good luck !
hello!! i am also 5'2"! i currently am at 145 (gained some weight back) and have a short term goal of 5 pounds to 140. CC said i should eat 1200 cals to reach this...i'm sorry but does any one else DISAGREE with this or is it just me? i dont want to eat just the base cal amount for a female!! i try to do cardio most days of the week to burn around 400 cals and lift weights about 2 times a week....currently i am trying to eat between 1350-1500 cals a day. how does that sound?
Hi there, I'm 5'2", 42 years old and currently 120. I started this whole CC thing two weeks ago at 125. I'm small boned (with size 5 feet!). I eat 1200 cals a day and my goal is 110, at which point I'll do whatever calories I need to maintain that.
I have a semi-active job and I do pilates, although not too dedicated. :)
I'm 5'2 and currently 129 lbs but my goal weight is about 123 lbs. I started at 140+ before CC. I work out 5 day a week and eat about 1300-1500 calories per day. Usually about 1400 cals or more on days after I weight train. I also do cardio.
Laphips: 1200 cals seem too low for the activity that you're doing. You might want to check the activity level you checked off on your profile so that it can be recalculated. This site tells me I should be eating 1900 cals for my activity level but I find that too high.
Try this:
hey thanks!! that's pretty helpful! it says i should be eating 1397 sooo thats about 1400 cals a day to lose 1.4 pounds a week....
