I am curious to know why people pick a certain weight they would like to be at?  I know some have been at that weight before and would like to get back there (like myself) but how about those who never been there.  Why that weight and not any other weight?

My goal weight is 135.  I have been there 2 1/2 years ago before having my son and would like to get back there.  My clothes fit better and I felt better.  At that weight my asthma didn't bother me as much and I didn't have any attacks at all.  Alot of health related symptoms disappeared and I felt GREAT!  So I was just wondering how do others chose their goal weights and why a particular number?

Do you prefer a specific BMI as well?

It's ironic that although we all want to get to different numbers we have a commonality and that is to feel good.  Some say its to be healthy while others want to get back to a weight they were before.  I feel these are all good reasons and these are the things we should think about everyday to push us a little harder.

For me, I didn't start with a goal weight.  I was so overweight that all I knew is that I was unhealthy... and losing ANY would help me.  I never ever thought I'd be where I am today... from 280 to 137.... and I didn't count the pounds along the way... I just bought smaller clothes when the ones I was wearing got too big.... and now, I only try to keep in my clothes, instead of obsessing over the number.  It'll drive you crazy sometimes thinking, "just three more pounds... two more..."

Kwim congrats on your lose.  How did you do it and how long did it take?

I have a number I would like to be at, but the last time I was there, I was in grammar school and not at my full height, so I'm not sure what my best weight would be.  For now, I'm experimenting with how my body looks and if I find a point where I think I look the best, I'll maintain there.  I'm 19, 5'1, and right now I'm at 135.  My goal weight is around 120, 125 (I have curves and a medium build).  If I can make it down there, I think I'll be quite happy with myself.

My weight has been all over the place the highest I've been so far and hopefully never again (*Knocks on wood) is 163 and I'm 5'3. I won't even mention my lowest (Past ED issues.) However, I found myself to be my happiest at 110. It's funny because at one point I thought 110 was too big and when I was that weight I tried to get down to 100..but then the stress of it all I ended up binging and gaining about 50 pounds within 3 months..eeek. :/ Now I would give anything in the world to be 110 and if I reach it I'm not going to fight to be lower then that because this time I'm going to damn appreciate being there! Personally I feel most comfortable and would be fine being between 105-115, but def. nothing lower then 105. I want to feel energetic, fit, and happy not just skinny...and I don't ever want to be overweight again and I don't ever want to look back.
