What's the one food you can't give up?

Quote  |  Reply
So we all know we've got to maintain balance in our lives and diets... We can cut down on"bad" foods, but I'm sure we've all got vices.

Mine is Tostitos Salsa Con Queso. It's full of sodium and has some fat and cals, but it's not too bad... I like to put one serving (2 tbs) on a big heaping bowl of broccoli- that way I get the taste without adding the cals and carbs of chips.

I'm curious- what are your indulgences, and how do you incorporate them into your diet without going overboard?

Mmm...so many... Mountain Dew, M&Ms are the first thing that come to mind...but I also bought two packs of Oreos today because they were buy one get one free. I used to just eat these things when I felt like it. Now, I pay attention to the serving size, get a measuring cup if I have to, and not have more than one serving a day.

I've just started on this website, and I've still got a lot of bad habits to kick.
Blueberry muffens. The ones from vons with the suger sprinkled on top! They r huge but they are my main binge food, so when i want one, i cut it in half and have my dad eat the other half!
C H E E S E..... I dint think I could ever completely give it up... that and I love nuts ... I use less now than ever ... but I do use them in my salads and other dishes
Ice cream. However, I HAVE switched to healthy choice or Edy's light slow-churned. Around 110/120 calories per 1/2 cup serving. I only let myself have it so often, though, because I know it's still not good for me. AND I measure 1/2 cup or 1 cup servings, depending on how many calories I've alotted for it that day, put the container away, and eat only that.

Mint oreos are another weakness ... But I'm trying not to buy them at all, considering last time I had a package around, I was having an "I don't care anymore" day and ate the entire rest of the package (like 8 cookies, giving me a grand total of 560 calories JUST in cookies that day). Believe me, those non-caring days ... you'll care the next day, and you'll be apalled, and ashamed of yourself. Oy. This is somethin' I wouldn't have looked twice at before I started my LMP, but now ... it makes me sick to my stomach to think of how many calories I was consuming and not even realizing it.

All your treats are ok, in moderation, and as long as you alot for them in your calories for the day. Just don't go overboard, and don't have them EVERY night if they're full of stuff that's not good for you. Measure out a serving, put the rest up, and back away!
Cheese Puffs are a must......but haven't had any since my life style change :(
My vice would be fudge..I can cut out ice cream / chips / and cinnabons but not the homemade chocolatey yumminess of fudge.

My diet is pretty much shot that last week in December - thank God Christmas only comes once a year:)
cheese.. definalty cheese
little hershey's chocolate kisses...any flavor. I've never really given anything up...just cut back on the portion.
Coffee! I refuse to give up my coffee. Although I did stop putting sugar and creamer in it. I miss cappucino
Ok so it's not a food but I can't seem to give up Beer.
Don't think I'm can't not drink... I can... but I just love a nice cold pint or 2 or 3...
Food... I really mis french fries! with gravy and cheese and mayo for dipping... can you all tell who the Canadian is? LOL
~Cheese & Chicken Planks {@Long John Silvers} I treat my self to 3 every other friday {pay day friday} ~ But I allways log them no matter what!!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM {moans like homer simpson}
RED WINE but unfortunatley it is not a food...but I can't give up my RED WINEat night very easily sorry! I love a glass of red at night to relax andnow I measure it and my wine glass is only a half of a cup....so that is all i allow myself.......someday I might be able to give it up but I look forward to it...it has been my ritual for a while now....bad habits are are to break.........
Pizza................ OH my Pizzza..... I have to let it go. I know.. The craving is driving my crazy... FOr all the people who live in Chicago know that Pizza is what's happening. I love it Beggars, Genos East, Papa Johns, even Pizza hut .... but I want some pizza right now but so high in calories, I wish it wasn't I'd have that everyday.
I still eat what I want. I just cut down. My fav things are chips and pizza.
I will have one bag of chips per week as a reward for doing well during the week. And maybe once a month I will have pizza. I dont think it is good for a person to cut out what they love COMPLETELY. If you need to lose a lot of weight have your fav piece of junk once a month, or when you reach your first goal. Treat yourself! I think it keeps the control at a stable level and you are still happy and not going insane with cravings...I think if you cut things out it just makes things worse and can cause relapses...major BAD ONES. Trust me I know.
when I was "dieting" I did cut out Mayonaisse and butter completely. Because I used to put it in everything. It was not much trouble at all. Now I have mayo and margarine once in a while but its rare.

I'm not giving anything up. I just have to learn to measure portions and work the calories into my daily allowance. Right now I'm being very careful with my "trigger" foods. pasta is the worst. I preweigh my portion and make sure I'm not too hungry when I eat it. A huge salad eaten before the pasta is a good way to do that.

However, I have given up anything with transfats. If the lable uses the words partially hydrogenated I pass on that product.
hmm.. I had no trouble... well, it took me a year, cutting out foods that don't help me in any way. I don't even crave oreos at all. We're on a budget, so I don't even buy things like fudge.

Can't give up dark chocolate. That would be it. I gave up butter, mayo, even milk chocolate, and could probably give up coffee if I absolutely had to. The thing is, I only have dark chocolate once a month, max, and not very much. I must be a sodium freak because I can't give up ramen noodles either. I go to the Asian market and get the imported, extra spicy kind with the vegetable packet.
*points to name*

Chocolate is the fifth food group as far as I'm concerned. lol I just make a point of allotting it. I can make a chocolate bar last a week now. ^_^
CHOCOLATE!!!!!! im in luv!!
Nachos--I have an obsession with Mexican food. Sad I know. I like to order takeout once every 2 weeks or go to one of the places near my job for lunch. :( I have to give up the nachos thoiugh!
It hardest for me to get through the day without bread and the weekends without liquor!
