What's your Non Scale Victory ( Brag away )
Melkor "Hey, crow away - we're all due a little brag time now and then. ( Which reminds me, I should change out the runner recruitment drive with something new, so if anyone want to have a brag thread up top, make one ;) )"
So here we go.
Since starting weight lifting vs doing cardio all the time - all though I've gained weight due to poor eating and stress and stuff I've managed to drop back from a size 14 to a 12 and the 12s are getting baggier every day.
So what is your personal achievement that you want to share!! Brag it up folks!!
Reason: Stickied for well-deserved pat on the back to everyone ;)
For the first time ever I made it through that t's-taking-so-long-what's-the-use phase without giving up.
A very big deal for me.
I resisted the chicken nuggets! I walked out of the grocery story and could smell the McDonalds across the parking lot. My first thought was "that sounds nice." But I talked myself out of it and went to the gym instead. Not a huge victory, but a little one.
just discovered this thread - definitely a new favorite! will keep this around on those days the scale doesn't want to display my achievement
the biggest brag i've got so far is completing a 5k (thanks Couch-to-5k) this month, in august i couldn't even run 45 seconds, and i finished it in under 36 minutes on Nov 1 - no walking, all running
i'll be squatting and deadlifting over 200 again within 2 weeks (hopefully!) so that will be my next brag
and my biggest brag yet is going to be doing my first ever pull/chin up! i can move my body up now a little bit, but not all the way...
I ran my first half marathon today and am still delirious enough to consider a full one next...!
This time last year, I was about 85 pounds heavier who got winded just doing the stairs - a year sure made a difference!
thats awesome! i can't imagine what a year will do for me! i'm 3 months in and i feel better than i did 5 years ago!
Thanks gratesgatsby! I was doing Couch to 5K just this past spring, so I bet soon enough we will see you here again with an update:) Keep up the great work, and you're being smart to balance it out with strength training -- makes a huge difference!
I don't know what 'couch to 5K' is, but when I completed my first 5K in many years in August, it took me nearly 1 hour. Last night, I FINALLY went under 33 minutes (this has been my goal for over 6 weeks) completing it in 32:53. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to run it sub-30!
Hi Doingmybest
You will get sub-30, I was stuck at 32 minites for such a long time, my first 5k was around 44 minutes. I finially went sub-30 this week and today ran 28:12 i'm amazed I was knocking off seconds then just one day just jumped a couple of minutes. Keep going it will happen. Good luck. x
I'll play along...
I've made it to day 30 of P90X!
For someone with a McDonald's habit, 10 months (and 24 days) without touching the stuff. I don't even have the craving anymore.
I haven't posted to this thread in a while, waiting for another milestone...and here's a goodie:
I am officially OUT of the "X" sizes! This is a real breakthrough for me, since I have been a "2X" since my younger son was born 21 years ago.
I have been shopping alot lately, as most of the "1X" clothing that I bought @ the beginning of this season is already too big on me!
I've been noticing that, even when the scale refuses to move, I am still losing an inch here or a half-inch there...so I'll take whatever I can get!
Now when I shop, I find that the "Large" fits just fine, lol...
