Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k What's the silliest thing you've ever done to lose weight?
I admit it. I bought the patch. I didn't want to change my diet and exercise, I just wanted it to go away on its own, and the patch had a money-back guarantee. So- after 21 days I got my money back. It's embarassing. I knew it wasn't practical, but I wanted it to work SO BADLY!! Anyway, I thought it'd be fun to laugh at ourselves b/c I'm sure everyone's done something they knew wasn't going to work but they did it anyway. Anyone else??
Take a college exercise course! It was a 1 credit hour class, I needed the credit hour & I needed to lose weight. After the first class, our instructor told me my goals were too high and laughed at the happenstance that I might lose weight, regardless, I dropped the class and started exercising at home. I willnever again combine school with exercise!
kathspleen,
I am laughing so hard right now. I did the patch too!!! NO it didn't work for me either, imagine that one...lol...

I bought this video on breathing exercises. It supposedly melted the fat away while using a series of breathing techniques. I must have looked ridiculous with my dramatic inhaling and exhaling to video. Yikes! It was no surprise when it didn't work.
Okay I admit it
I bought the patch several months ago -- I never even used all of them. haha maybe if i actually got off my butt at that time i woud have lost something.

Fat Trapper Pills!
There were these pills they sold on infomercials late at night that were supposed to "trap" the fat before your body could absorb it.
Nope, didn't work - but they did have a really good side effect for me. They totally prevented hangovers - I'd take them before drinking with my friends, and the next morning they were all hurting and I was like "What's for Breakfast???"
(Note: I was younger and sillier - don't drink much anymore)

this topic makes me smile ;)
i've always tried to make up new ways to lose weight, like EXTREME JUMPROPE.
i'm a male, and im 19. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT RIGHT?
but jump rope alone burns calories at a decent rate, put a little 360 action, with a little bit of spastic action (like a kid thats hyperactive w/out riddlin) and you've got yourself one helluva workout ;)

I drank that horrible hollywood orange juice that is suppose to make you loose 10 lbs in a week. It didn't last a day and a half. lol
The 3 day diet - With icecream at night and I think one of the meals is like Hot dogs and brocolli...
Isagenix...its supposed to be a clensing program.
Its horrible!!
Program: A terrible juice drink and no eating for 2 days, followed by 5 days of 1 meal, a shake, and a pill, and then another 2 days of no eating, a terrible juice drink and a pill.
The first time I did it I lost 9 pounds in 9 days. A year later I tried it and only lost 4 1/2 pounds that lasted less than a week.
It may be legit, I don't really know... but definitely not worth it.

silliest....anything but counting calories and eating right! my mom in law has decided to beat me in my weight loss, I have lost 17lbs in 2.5 months and she wants to catch up with me and lose 16 lbs in one month. Now this idiot is a nurse and KNOWS it isnt healthy! So she just eating soup and salad and 20mins of exercise a day. NOW THAT IS THE SILLIEST I Have ever heard. So I will enjoy my nice meals while she eats lettuce with nothing on it. she is 5'4" and weighs 150. I dont see why she has to be so silly and want a competition! sorry but its a silly way that she is trying to lose!
sorry didnt mean to go off about my mom in law- I just think crash diets are ridiculous! especially when you want to keep it off for life.
i took metabolife.. that's the only fad diet thing i've ever done and let me tell you i lost some weight.. but i think every pound was lost because i was shaky.. i couldn't make my hand sit still to save my life.. and when i finally felt like passing out every day i decided it wasn't worth it. went off the pills and gained it all back plus a lot, but that's about the time that my thyroid started to quit so.. i think this is the only thing that i've ever done that feels like i can keep with it forever.. :)
I joined the naval reserves. I figured since I had no
self-control that I needed someone else to force me to excercise.
I made it through the summer training program and hated every single
minute of the day. I would come home and put ice packs on my shin
splints and would fall asleep while polishing my boots. I did
lose weight, but I managed to gain it all backa gain and then some
afterwards (had to quit the reserves becuase of a conflict with my labs
at school).

LMAO at Slappy and her Mom in Law!! ...I agree the best way to lose is counting you calories and exercise.. One time I took PhenPhen too that stuff was so nasty.. I can't take speedy stuff... I hate the cracked out feeling ..Come to think of it even when I took that stuff I still counted calories...
Sorry for Dupe posting..
thanks kitty! She calls this morning and she has lost 4 lbs since last wednesday. I SAY BRING IT BABY!!! I love her but geez! the sign of Easter and it will be...."Im starting my NEW Diet on Monday". Thats ok. everytime I give her advice she tells me "Im a Nurse,I know what to do. OK THEN! I try to be helpful and she wants a competition. SO I told her If I win she can take me shopping! LOL
