What's YOUR Trigger Food?

Quote  |  Reply
We have been talking about this on a few threads, and I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks.

There are foods that some of us just can't touch, because we can't stop eating them. Even if we try to keep a low amount, we just eat until they are gone.

My Triggers are:

French Fries (I can't have even a bite or I will binge on a pound)

Popcorn (I will eat a large bucket, AND the refill)

Goldfish Crackers (I don't get it, but I can eat a couple of bags.

I have lost over 100 pounds, but I will still overeat these three foods, so I just don't touch them unless I am prepared for it.

My triggers have to do more with ingredients. Anything high in refined sugar (esp cookies and chocolate bars) and sometimes refined starches like soft breads. I know this is not unsual for many, but I have to really becareful of the cookies!
Special K red berry cereal.... I can't even touch it or I will stand there and eat an entire 15 serving box....

My triggers are: Sugar, artificial sweeteners and fruit

When I am on a binge, I can eat a whole box of cereal too!!

  • Cereal, particularly Puffins.
  • White rice

cereal, bread, crackers, oatmeal - all carby crud like that

and peanut butter and cheese

Green olives and sliced hamburger pickles.  I always tell myself, "Oh I'll just have a few.." and then by the time I realise I've had a few, I have maybe one or two left in the jar.
chocolate. if i eat one piece then i want more and more and cookie and whatever else goes with it.

Triggers:

- Salmon (I will eat about a pound + until I feel like my tummy is about to pop)

- Sashimi (It never makes me feel full until after I eat 2 sashimi deluxe platters of 24 pieces or so EACH!)

- Cabbage (makes me more hungry after I eat it)

- Bell Peppers (same as the cabbage problem)

- My Dad's Puttenesca Sauce (When I clear the table & put food away, I will always sneak bites of this, even when I am completely STUFFED!)

- My Dad's Clam Sauce (Same as the Puttenesca)

* I think it has to do with the abundance of olive oil!

- A large salad topped with Flax/Mustard Dressing (and I mean A LOT OF IT!)

- Grass-Fed Bison & Beef burgers!!!!

- Grilled veggies! :) (Ohhh, can't wait until the summer!!)

oh and cheese. mmm cheese.
Beer, whiskey

Cereal and anything high in sugar or simple starches.

Pizza. Queso. Cheetos. Doritos.

Sadly, food itself is my only trigger.  :(

But I'm working to change that.

I can't stop eating grapes once I start, but I can't think of any right now other than that (though I'm sure there are plenty)

When I used to binge though, crisps were a terrible trigger for me and I'd eat like, four bags in a row and a bunch of other stuff.  I haven't touched them for ages because I'm so scarred that they're what made me binge >< They might not have been, but thinking that means I don't eat them and I don'y binge, so who cares? xD

Pizza. Hands down. I have to eat 4 pieces if I eat one! Uggh. I can't stand that. Lately- I have been eating a lean cusine pizza if my hubby gets the "good kind." That way I still feel like I am eating pizza, even if it is a sad little substitute. ;)
mine is dorito's.  I love the cheese and the salt.  Can't buy them or have them in the house.
Cereal is for me, a lot of the time. It's so impossible to eat the reccomended serving! Also, ice cream, (I'm getting better at that, though,) grapes, chocolate or yogurt covered raisins, dried fruit, and basically anything obnoxiously delicious.

Potato chips - generally not things like Lays, the fried ones, I don't like those.. but ones that are marketed healthy. Blegh.

Snack mix is a killer, or cookies, etc.

pretzels..oatmeal...dark chocolate...almonds...and animal crackers....and fruit by the motherload.....
Cereal, cereal, cereal, and more cereal. I could seriously eat an entire box.
