What's up with the cat profiles?

What is up with all of the cat profile pictures!!? 

I don't really have any problem with cats.  They are very entertaining to watch (running up a tree as my dog chases them...j/k!).  But it seems very strange to me that so many profiles on cc start off with a cat photo.  I do not see many dog profiles, though I know there are a lot of dog lovers out there (can I get a "Hooyah" from all the dog lovers!)  Are you all cat people (maybe this is a time to assess yourself to see if you have become the "cat lady"...do you have more than 2 cats?...hmmm)  Or, is it an expression...cats are very expressional (Garfield had a lot to say without moving his lips)?  Is it a symbolic thing having to do with counting calories?  I donno...I just don't get it.  So, I thought I would ask you.

i have a puppy and two kitties but i only have the puppy's picture on my work computer so i think i'm going to upload him to be my avatar now... actually i tried to do that last night but my computer was being bad. hopefully my work computer is better :)
