There is your answer to the calorie question. The fact the ginseng is honeyed would up its calorie content.
Ginseng itself is a herb. It is rumoured to be an aphrodisiac, as well as good in renforcing the immune system and aiding with stress and anxiety. It's fairly good for you, all said and done.
hmm, but even WITHOUT the honey, its about 400 calories for 1 root (the size of like 2 middle fingers?
aids in stress+ anxiety?... that sounds good :). but why cant i have more than 1 serving of it per day? there were some precautions on it....
Too much ginseng can result in palpitations and headaches among other things, but it depends on the type of ginseng you have. As for calories, who knows, but that seems a little high for a plain piece of ginseng. Where is your source on calories in a plain root?
I get my ginseng from Celestial Seasoning's Honey Lemon Ginseng Tea. No calories and definitely improves my mood every time I drink it.

I can't imagine the root of any plant being 400 calories. Potatoes are much starchier and have far less calories than that. I'd also like to know where you're getting this info. I googled ginseng quite extensively and couldn't come up with any calorie counts except for drinks that contained ginseng. They were quite high in calories due to the amount of sugar or HFCS involved.
I also don't understand why you'd want to eat a lot of it. It is a flavoring or supplement.
Here's some real info on ginseng.
Here is another source which describes how to cook and eat ginseng. They recommend only eating 1 or 2 nickel-sized slices of root per day.
Blehhh!
I hate the smell & taste of ginseng. But my mom makes it all the time. We have loads of ginseng products: candy, chews, tea, and the actual ginseng itself. It's supposed to help the heart or something :S Alot of asians eat it.
Starwberry-dolly,
First off, I love your pic! It's very cute. Secondly, The ginseng tea I drink is yummy. But it has honey and lemon in it, too. Could be why...
Ginseng isn't very starchy at all so it shouldn't really be 400 calories
further more , eating it everyday is probably not good for you. (chinese medicine-wise, it is very warm, better for the winter). Cut into slices and make it into ginseng tea by boiling it in water to get all the medicinal properties out.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
