What's your waist to hip ratio?
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/waist-to-hip-ra tio-calculator/
It says mine is .74 (low risk). However before I lost weight it was more like .82 (moderate risk). Jeans fit a lot better these days, because in the past whatever fit my butt gave me a muffin top.
My mother in law is an extreme pear (.66). So is my mom. I believe Kate Moss was/is also. I wonder what the ideal ratio is?
This is neat. I'm glad I stumbled upon your post. ^_^
Oddly enough, I'm at .74, too.
yeah, you lost me at "kate moss."

I'm not saying I want her measurements or that they are ideal. I'm just saying that, according to the difference between her waist and hips, she is very much a pear. Or was, back in the day. Just thought it was interesting :)
This is interesting---extreme pear here i come! .68 here :)!
at least i have some boobage to balance out! ha!
.69... alas, i have none of that boobage to balance it out, it's ALL in the booty.
.73 here. Im the only pear in my family. All the others are apples. Hopefully my daughters take after me.
I've heard an ideal ratio for women is .70 :) Mine is .79, currently.
.93, but I dunno what is considered healthy for males.
This is interesting, lots of pears on here!
Ibez - anything below .95 for men is considered low risk :)
so ideal is .7, but ideal as in healthy or ideal as being most attractive to look at?
i guess though, to everyone ideal as in pleasing to the eye it is something different. a lot of people like the look of an hourglass figure on a woman whereas i prefer a straighter look and slim hips.
0.92 : (
im an extreme apple. and my thighs and legs are pretty slim, but the waist is horrible. its hard to find clothes that fit!

the psych research on attraction says that .8 on women is most attractive to men, regardless of size. but that's just psych research ;)
thanks i suppose that is an answer of what i wanted to know.
that would be hourglass... not my favorite but a mans preference.
0.84
Apple. Apple. Apple. I was 0.91 when I started losing weight. My goal is probably about 0.8 (30" waist; 37" hips). The waist measurement I'd have to get to to have a 0.75 ratio is ridiculously tiny (for me, at least). It'd be awesome, but I just don't see my body doing that.
0.71 = low risk however my body fat % is a bit on the high side apparently I'm obese when it comes to body fat % 0_o
i'm .78, at least using measurements from like 15, 20 pounds ago. anything below .8 is low risk for a woman.
.75 for me.
I have always heard that .7 is considered most attractive.
From nasuoni's link:
"Scientists have discovered that the waist-hip ratio (WHR) is a significant factor in judging female attractiveness. Women with a 0.7 WHR (waist circumference that is 70% of the hip circumference) are usually rated as more attractive by men from European cultures[10]. Such diverse beauty icons as Jessica Alba, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and even the Venus de Milo all have or had ratios close to 0.7, even though they all have different weights and heights. In other cultures, preferences appear to vary according to some studies,[11] ranging from 0.6 in China,[12] to 0.8 or 0.9 in parts of South America and Africa,[13][14][15] and divergent preferences based on ethnicity, rather than nationality, have also been noted.[16] [17]"
.73, no idea what this means.
How much fibre should I eat per day?
In the US, the Daily Reference Intakes for fiber are: 25 grams for women 19 - 50 21 grams for women 51 - 70+ 38 grams for men 19 - 50 30 grams for men 51 -... Read more
