What's your weight loss pet pieve?

Quote  |  Reply

I have a couple

1. My roommate LOST weight by not thinking about calories and only eating when she was hungry. She would eat until she's full, and just stop. And this would account to like, 1200 calories. She's like, 5'5" and 108 right now. She went abroad last spring to Spain and she was 115 then.. she said that was when she would constantly thing about weight. It pisses me off how losing weight can come natural for her!

2. When eating a SMALL piece of cheesecake takes an hour of vigorous running on the elliptical to redeem myself.

3. When losing water weight isn't actually fat.

1. People who are always on fad diet but are still overweight

2. Having my DP ask me if I am going to make sweet tea.

3. Logging my calories

4.Making homemade bread only to find out that 1 oz has 85 calories, but I can only seem to slice a piece that's 2ozs.  :(

1. People who eat my food, especially when I have measured it out, and have planned by whole day to get to my BMR or my calorie goal for the day and they mess it all up GRR.

2. Nutritional information not being available. I love L&L BBQ but they have no nutritional information :[

3. When people are like "ohh i'm so fat look at my thighs" when my thighs are twice as big and i am bigger than them. I mean I am at a heathy BMI so I wouldn't do that because I would be too embarrased to do that! BUT SOME PEOPLE OH MAN. I mean they be like I am so fat, and its like then what am I like a flippin hippo?

4. People that say like "why are you only eating that your skinny already or why wont you eat that your already skinny" and its like "BECAUSE I AM TRYING TO BE HEALTHY AND MAKE A LIFESTYLE CHANGE!"

1. Skinny people who say "How could you any one let themselves get in that state!". I really hate that one. Its easy I kinda stopped doing so much activity.

2. Having great offers on junk food at the supermarket (In the UK we have a lot of "Buy One Get One Free" offers on a lot of stuff) but very few offers for healthy foods. The offers seem to be on multi packs of things too.

3. Lack of nutritional info (everyone seems to say that)

4. People saying "Its gonna be impossible for you to lose the weight now". Its like once your fat your doomed.

5. Skinny people complaining about a few ounces they've gained!

6. People trying to get down to a Size 0.

I thought I didn't have many pet peeves but obviously do! Lets prove these people wrong. Stay positive and get healthy!

1. The fact hubby needs far more food than me which makes eating together difficult. He still hasn't got the fact that if we are going to eat together in the evening I need to know what so I  can plan it into my calorie count.

2. The work canteen changed it salads so everything has a dressing and most include pasta, potatoes, noodles now.

3. I don't see why you want to lose weight you are fine as you are. I don't want to lose alot but I want to be healthier and if I get down to the mid-range of my BMI I feel a lot better.

1.  Slimmer people who really want to know how much weight you have lost, and then (when you won't tell them specifics), stating that, "well, I'm trying to lose 5lbs, and when I do, I'll be telling everyone!"

2.  The "OMG I can't get over how skinny you have become" people.  Tell me once that you think I look good (if you think I do) and then lets move on.  Unless you have specific questions, I'm not spending a conversation talking about my weight loss -- and, no, you still won't find out how much weight I lost.

3. I carry my weight very well -- please don't continue to try to guess my weight, you are making yourself look foolish -- and I still won't tell you how much I weigh. If you want to know how much I weigh now, or how much I weighed then -- you have to be part of the "family" (I've told EVERYONE about CC).

4. The "can you eat that on your diet?" crew.  I've told everyone that I can eat anything I want, that I am not on a "diet".  Besides that -- it is my life, I'm doing this for me -- leave me to know what I can and cannot eat.

5.  By the way -- I drink water because I LIKE IT.  I have never been a soda/ice tea drinker.  I don't drink too much water for ME.  I do not have diabetes.  I do not pee incessantly. I eat properly and take a vitamins, I'm not washing them out.  I don't believe water has magical powers -- I like it.

When I mention to someone that I'm working out/running/going to the gym and they say "You don't need to exercise". That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Everyone needs daily physical activity to maintain their health. So I guess what they really want for me is to sit on the couch instead of going for a jog? Yeah, makes total sense. Since I don't "need" to exercise I might as well get some bon-bons and park my butt right down on that cushion.

1. People on this board who don't log calories and then ask "am eating enough calories."

2. People who work out but keep their profiles at sedentary and then are like " I cannot lose weight what's wrong"

3. The fact 1/2 cup of milk is not enough for one full cup of cereal.  2/3 is a much better portion

1. People who ignore the built in spellchecker on this site and continue to spell poo poo wrong because they are effing lazy or just stupid.

2. My 3 underweight roommates who very likely have eating disorders and gripe 24/7 about how fat they are. It's no small miracle that I haven't killed them yet.

3. People who ignore the built in spellchecker on this site and continue to spell poo poo wrong because they are effing lazy or just stupid. (This annoys the piss out of me enough that I feel it is worth repeating.)

I feel the same way sometimes. It makes me feel good when people notice I have lost weight, but the compliment is fine.. let's not get too excited! I especially hate it when there are people around, because then the spotlight is all on you.. sometimes, I just want to blend in with the crowd and mind my own business.

A few more pet peeves -

1. The looonnnggg slow process.

2. How my body is proportioned unevenly. I see pics of people on CC that weigh the exact same as me, sometimes more.. but look thinner.

3. The horrifying amount of sodium in everything that isn't straight from

the garden.

The people who keep mentioning how much weight I've lost....6 months after I lost it.  Hello, the first week or two was complimentary, but 6 months later I'd really prefer not to be reminded that I was heavier.

People who go on and off of crash diets and seem to think that they're actually losing weight or being healthy.  Water weight is the reason that pounds come off so quickly on crash diets, you haven't lost fat you've lost water and possibly some muscle.

Men who say that women shouldn't look too muscular.  If you don't like looking then look somewhere else.  You really can't see my muscles unless I'm flexing them but if you don't like the look, don't look, I can take you down.

I love exercise...I'm pretty sure all mine involve food.

1.  I can't cook, and trying to cook healthy usually results in failure.  I just don't have kitchen skills...but I'll eat whatever I cook anyway, since I can't afford to throw out food.  Which leads to number 2...

2.  Healthy food can be expensive, and it usually spoils faster because there are no preservatives (which is good I guess).  But it's tastier than processed food, at least!

3.  I spend way too much time in the grocery store reading food labels!  Most of the time it's just easier to buy stuff not from the "middle" of the store, and just stick with fruits, vegetables, and lean meats.

I love being a grump about this kind of thing, here goes nothing:

1. Friends who constantly point out how "healthy" I'm eating while they munch on a big mac!

2. the bad nutritional content of Alcohol, that really sucks cause I enjoy drinking socially!

3. Hearing how celebrities lose ridiculous amounts of weight in short periods of time (after a movie role, baby, whatever...)

4. How ordering a "salad" makes you one of "those girls." There are so many tasty salads out there, and quite a few of them have a high caloric and fat count depending on the contents! I happen to like salad, so back off!

5. Portion sizes at restaurants. too big.

6. People who assume I'm a vegetarian because I like to try meatless products/foods. I will always eat cow, pig, you name it, but sometimes I don't feel like it!

7. People who talk on their phones while exercising. I can barely manage to not fall down and these people are having whole conversations!

skinny girls eating muffins?! what's that all about?!

My pet peeve is that girl who posted a threat asking how many calories she should eat and she's like 105 pounds ... ololol I know that's mean but that was just my impression when I saw that.

No kidding! I was enjoying a quiet workout this morning with a friend when some woman came in and turned the TV on loud (there is a mute option with subtitles), which wasn't so bad because I liked the show. But then she got on the treadmill and spent the next 30 min. on the phone. When she finished her workout and left, she didn't even bother to turn off the TV. Seriously, wtf?

1.  When family members who are significantly overweight constantly whine about how fat they are, yet insist on purchasing junk food simply because it was on sale.  Just because it was cheap does not make it a good food choice, nor does it help your increasingly large butt get any smaller.  Plus I would just rather not have that crap around.  If its not there, I won't eat it.

2. I hate that I have becoming increasingly "high maintenance" at restaurants.  I now seem neurotic and picky when ordering.  Restaurants are just hard all around.  I don't like that eating out is one of the primary ways people socialize nor do I like that I don't have control over how my food is prepared at restaurants.  Eating at home is so much better, then I can just enjoy cooking and making good whole nutritious food and I don't have to worry about being the high maintance weird food person.

3.  Mexican food.  I love it. I hate it.  I can't eat it without bingeing.   True, there can be good Mexican food.  However, my favorite Mexican food is deep fried, covered in cheese, or filled with lard. One day maybe I will be able to enjoy it normally as part of a well-balanced diet.  Today is not that day.

People who assume I am developing an eating disorder because I want to lose weight. Eating normal portions does not make me anorexic.

Assuming my desire to eat well and exercise is a direct product of vanity. Yes, I want to look good, but I also want to feel good.

The fact that so many of the exercise classes I want to take cost so much. I would love to go kickboxing!

Okay, kind of repeating what others have said, but here it goes...

1) Poeple who have no room to complain about thier body, especially in front of people that are bigger than they are...how does the thinner one thinks that makes the other person feel...RUDE!

2)Trying to make dinner for me and my bf...he is a really picky eater.  No salads or veggies, but he loves pasta and bread!  Right now he is paying for the groceries so I have to limit what I get..healthy food tends to be expensive.

3)Knowing that I am gaining muscle, and losing fat...but the scale does not prove anything. I need to measure myself..or go by how my clothes fit.

4) Feeling the want for food I know I do not need... and trying to substitue with something healthy or do something to get my mind off the food.

5)I wanna quit smoking...but afraid of weight gain.  BTW I know smoking is bad but it is hard to break a 15 year habit.

So yeah there is alot to bitch about but in the end I know I will be a healthier person!  And this is only my condensed list of the battles of losing weight!

oops..double post.

oh god, i HATE when i say that i don't eat fast food or junk food people look at me like i'm crazy because obviously i'm overweight so i must eat all of that s**t, right? WRONGGG.

reminded me of a former colleague who aw me losing some weight and thought i was longing for her advice that was like "eat less chovolate". i do not have sweet tooth and eat chocolat or ice cream about twice a year. not everyone who is overweight is eating cakes all the time.
