What's your weight loss pet pieve?
I have a couple
1. My roommate LOST weight by not thinking about calories and only eating when she was hungry. She would eat until she's full, and just stop. And this would account to like, 1200 calories. She's like, 5'5" and 108 right now. She went abroad last spring to Spain and she was 115 then.. she said that was when she would constantly thing about weight. It pisses me off how losing weight can come natural for her!
2. When eating a SMALL piece of cheesecake takes an hour of vigorous running on the elliptical to redeem myself.
3. When losing water weight isn't actually fat.
Reason: 4/14/08: Stickied. 4/21/08: Unstickied
When I have thought I was eating healthy from somewhere only to find out that I ate too many calories. :(
When your DP knows you are trying to cut calories and orders a family size dinner and asks you "aren't you going to eat those fries"
When your family tries to get you on their fad diet because calorie counting just cannot work.
When you realize that the scale at home is 5lbs off the WRONG way...

What does DP mean?
number #1: post-anorexic friends who cannot comprehend an honest attempt at healthy diet & exercise without underlying self-destructive intentions is possible.
DP = Dear Partner. Politically correct version of boyfriend or Girlfriend.
I have been in a long term relationship (5 years) but I am not engaged or married. BF just seems Juvenile to me..and DF sounds like he's my friends LOL.

1) My "garden snake" friends: "Come on, this is a lifestyle change, right? So are you never going to have lasagna again? A few calories won't hurt! You ate that breadstick yesterday..." I love my friends but they don't understand that just because I can eat pasta one day (because I saved up calories and planned for it), I can't eat it everyday. They don't understand the fact that everything I eat is planned at least a day in advance. Stop throwing temptation in my face!
2) The people who constantly worry that I'm going to get too skinny. First, I'm not even halfway done with my weightloss, so they're kinda jumping the gun, there, and second, I'm not now, nor have I ever been anorexic. I'm trying to be healthy, not just thinner. There IS a happy medium in there.
3) The people who laugh at me when I'm walking and my pants start falling down because all my clothes are too big and I haven't had time to alter them/money to buy new ones. Or the people constantly telling me to buy new clothes. I'm losing weight, not winning the lottery. Clothes cost money and neither fall from trees. What's the point of buying new clothes that will be baggy in two months anyway?
When your best friend (who had the lap band surgery but hasn't done anything exercise wise to help kick up her weight loss) says she is your biggest cheerleader but is tired of you talking about losing weight. (Dude...this is when I was finally able to fit into size 14 jeans...I have NEVER been in size 14 jeans...I am freakin stoked! And I can't talk about it with my best friend...cheerleader my slowly decreasing cheek size.)
When your co-worker (who took the place of another team mate for a fitness challenge at work says she won't dissapoint you) does the bare minimum for the challenge requirements and complains about how she needs to lose weight after complimenting the work you've been doing to slowly decrease the cheek size. Get the heart rate up for a half hour woman!!! You are dissapointing me and weight watchers points monitoring can only do so much. Going for a walk with your boyfriend needs to be chasing him with a rotweiler in tow!!!
...after this week I think I will become a work out nazi on her...warned her I would...shouldn't be a shocker...hehehe...mwahaha..can I get a Dr Evil laugh track please?
Oh and when you say you will probably need surgery on the flag waivers after losing all the weight and a guy says, "just be happy where you are...as long as your happy then it's fine." Uh dude...I am working on getting to that point but I know that I will have to get this excess skin removed and btw no Beyonce does not have flag waivers!!! He tried to say she did...on this video...about not being perfect...hmm.
My mother advising me to keep the fat clothes, just in case
Eating out - not knowing the nutritional value of stuff I eat throws me into a panic! There could be anything in there...hidden butter, etc...eeeks!
Gushers - people who go on and ON about how fantastic you look when you've lost some weight - makes me feel like they musta thought I was pretty gross before. And, just as bad, losing 35 lbs and not one person comments at all. C'mon how about some middle ground people!
This one's not a peeve it's the opposite, but want to mention it...my sister peeling the skin off chicken wings for a dinner party of 7 people, to make them more healthy for my sake. If you have ever tried to peel skin off chicken wings you know how sweet of a gesture that was!
1. People who eat your food. My kids enjoy fruit and yogurt as much as I do - but I only eat fat free and they need the fat versions. Different varieties depending on what I chuck into the shopping cart at the store... No matter which flavors I buy them versus me they always find mine way more appetizing and eat them all. Then I am left yogurtless for another week. Same with fruit... since I cut it up and baggy it up in my portion size, once theirs is gone, they just grab a baggy and go... BUT THAT WAS MINE!!! UGH *SIGH*
2. When did a 1/2 cup of cereal become a serving? A half cup of rice? Sure - that gets the benefit of being on the plate with SOMETHING. Cereal - that is it - besides your 1/2 cup of milk (which I believe to be enough - I hate milk and only use it for cereal)... nothing else to take up space in that bowl... Those few pitiful pieces of goodness sulking forlornly in the corner of my bowl. *SIGH*
3. People who INSIST that you don't need to lose anymore weight... Really? Do you know what I weigh? Cause on most days I don't know what I weigh. My goal is to be within my healthy BMI. Not to fit your uneducated idea of what I should weigh and look like. I want to live until I am 110 so I have to be prepared to take care of this body NOW. HEALTHILY!
Ok, I am done... I think...
people who think people with a healthy BMI or are skinny/slim whatever can't ever talk about or complain about how they look. Ok, so maybe im skinnier then you, that don't mean i am total secure with how i look!
* Walking in to a crowded, public event and a friend of mine (God bless her I know she loves me) says "Well, HEY SKINNY" at the top of her lungs while all eyes are on my and thinking the same thing I am thinking...Ummm yeah at 220 lbs. I am by no means anywhere near SKINNY...yes I have lost almost 40 lbs., but not skinny...
* SIL being on what she thinks is a "weight loss clinic approved* crash diet and proclaiming that she will lose 40 lbs. in one month and trying to convince me it is healthy...whatever!!!
* Having to buy new clothes, while I LOVE that I am a smaller size, I plan on being a lot smaller (70 lbs. to go) so I am seeing that I will be spending a lot of money in the next few months. While I am not "rich" by any means, I just can't justify wearing clothes that are 2 and 3 sizes too big...it totally makes me look frumpy and I can't stand that!!
The ability for me to use my school ID card to pay for the vending machines. And for the snack machine to be right across from the soda machine. And for the snack machine to have such yummy looking things in it. And for both machines to be right there. >_<
The cravings are my pet peeve. I like to think I am powerful and can usually overcome them...but some days are really tough. When everyone around you is just eating whatever they want and you know you can't do that to achieve your goals.
when you eat greasy foods and ice cream after eating clean for a long time and it makes you sick to your stomach.
1. People telling you that you "don't need to exercise" because you're not overweight.
2. People shoving high-calorie, high-fat food at you.
3. Some people who think counting calories is an "eating disorder"
1. My size 0 sister telling me I'm not fat whilst sucking down a 42 oz. fountain Dr Pepper from the gas station.
2. The fact that eating breakfast is supposed to boost your metabolism and is the most important meal of the day. But whenever I eat breakfast, I end up eating all day because I feel starved. (It's weird, I know...)
3. A tiny ass bag of Baked Lays still has like 160 cals in it.
4. The high cost of fresh fruits and veggies.
People who are constantly saying they need to lose weight (and they do) but do not want to put the effort of planning sensible meals and exercising into it. They want it all for free you know to drop pounds and still down pizza and pound cake every night. When I say it doesn't work that way and that it requires dedication and hard work, they look at me and say "What do you know you look great"
#1 I work very hard to look great I work out six days a week and eat very sensibly proof that it is worth the effort.
#2 If you don't want to put any effort into it then don't bother calling me to come and meet you as a potential client because I have clients who really do want to put effort into their health (I am a trainer) and I would much rather spend time with someone who wants to change their life for the better.
#3 If you do hire me and we spend quality time working out and I develop an eating plan for you, do not work out and go home and say boy that was tough I probably don't need to worry about eating good because of that work out and order pizza and eat pound cake and then complain to me that you aren't losing weight.
People always see a healthy lifestyle as a change to difficult to make. I personally think leaving this world because you couldn't take care of the one body God gave you is a much bigger change to make especially for the people who love you.
Rant over thanks for listening folks....

Not weird at all, I avoided breakfast for many years because of that. I found that eating first thing in the morning made me neaseous, and then I would be hungry again by 10:30, whereas if I didn't eat breakfast, I could get to like 1 or 2 pm without noticing I was even hungry. Bad bad bad.
If you think about it, if breakfast is boosting your metabolism, it makes sense to be hungry earlier as you are burning up the cals like crazy. NOT being hungry into late in the day just means your body is still powered-down like when you are sleeping, and not burning many cals at all. EEKS! Glad I woke up to that one. Also many many studies have shown that breakfast-eaters tend to be thinner than non-breakfast eaters. Sign me up!
When I do well for a solid month (eating, working out etc...) then it's a week of crap, maybe two and I fight myself to get back in check.
Oh boy...here it goes...
all the healthier foods like chicken breast vs thighs or something are so damn expensive.
on nice days like today where i would rather be out walking, im stuck at my desk at work lol....
my friends who when i say im trying to be good and watch what i eat and then they proceed to talk about themselves...ugh!
once i get an off track day, it takes me forever to get back on track..bad!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
