What's your weight loss pet pieve?

Quote  |  Reply

I have a couple

1. My roommate LOST weight by not thinking about calories and only eating when she was hungry. She would eat until she's full, and just stop. And this would account to like, 1200 calories. She's like, 5'5" and 108 right now. She went abroad last spring to Spain and she was 115 then.. she said that was when she would constantly thing about weight. It pisses me off how losing weight can come natural for her!

2. When eating a SMALL piece of cheesecake takes an hour of vigorous running on the elliptical to redeem myself.

3. When losing water weight isn't actually fat.

I've lost more than him and don't look it or feel it.

I love feeling the weight loss in my clothes, but I hate being at an in between stage. My clothes are too baggy (probably need to invest in a belt for these times) and other jeans are so tight I give myself the muffin top.

But I sure love my new energy, and my body although I am only half way there.

Agree with this..I am at the in-between stage too.

Half my clothes are loose and baggy on me and the other half don't fit me yet (the skinny clothes I KNEW I would fit back into someday).

Drives me crazy when people (read MIL and FIL) keep suggesting different diets for me to try um .. what I am doing now is WORKING why would I change ??

These same people go on and on about the "dangers of diet soda" which I don't even drink. Always saying that diet food makes you fat coz you are fooled into thinking you can eat more of it. Apparently, some study was done years ago on a dozen rats and that proves it.

So they don't think that I can make a conscious decision to eat less then??

Then they prepare high fat, high cal meals when we go over for dinner (seriously..are they trying to sabotage my diet?) and make disparaging comments when I refuse the worst elements of the meal.... eeesh!

And then they comment on my hubby's weight loss (yey for him) but say nothing about mine. I've lost 18lb and I know it shows, coz I can see it!

Are they just being mean?

Gotta add the people who bring in cakes, cookies, pies, candy and bagels to the office are also a pain in the neck.

When my friend goes: 'Oh, I only lost half a stone in a week'

I can't lose even 1 POUND in a week. But 7?!

People telling me I'm fine the way I am. They think so. I don't. I want to lose weight, and not unhealthily either. I never tell THEM I think that they sould lose weight or anything like that.

People who can eat and eat and eat and eat and eat, and not put on ANYTHING.

Carrot cake being so calorie-laden :(

1. People who can eat whatever in the heck they want and not gain a single ounce.

2. When the only genes I inherited were the thyroid disorders and the short stature.

3. When chocolate gives you cramps.

4. When I eat exactly what I'm supposed to and exercise and still don't see a difference.

I'm with you, Mango, about the people telling me I'm fine when I don't think so.

when you tell ppl you're on a diet and they dont stop offering you junk food. i got asked if i wanted a minstrel yesterday around 25 times!!

biggest= When People Say

Boy you've lost a lot of Weight! But do you feel good. I Mean do you really Feel better.

Surprised

When one of the ladies at work looked at my high-volume low-calorie lunch and said "are you really going to eat all that?" (total was less than 400 calories)

When I gained back ten pounds and my mom offered me a pair of pants ten sizes too large saying "that's about what you are now, is it not?"

When people tell me not to gain any of the weight back. Even when my doctor told me to gain ten pounds, others were saying "You look great, just be sure to keep going to the gym. No offense, but you don't want to gain anything because you look good where you are now." Sorry, do I need your permission to gain or lose?

Anti-peeve: When my best girlfriend warns me that she's been baking and says "I made pie today. There's lots left and you're welcome to a slice, or if you prefer I can put it somewhere out of sight before you come over tonight." Then SHE wouldn't eat any while I was there, even though I never asked for this. Once when we were out she even asked if it would bother me if she got a pastry. She's the best! She's encouraged me the whole way without being judgemental or know-it-all or waving temptations in my face.

so my best friend of a few years has an amazing body, but is constantly trying to find the newest and easiest weight loss phenomenon. she'll do some crazy diet for 3 days and lose like 2 pounds and thens stop, or try new diet pills that turn her into a crack head. when i started counting calories and actually working out, i didn't really tell her because if it didn't work or i gave up i didn't want her to know haha so i only started saying something after losing like 5 pounds, and now i've lost 14 pounds, and every time i talk to her about what i do, because she asks, she gets angry with me! she taking some ridiculous shot in her stomach before every meal to curb cravings or something, and she's like 5'6 and probably 125 pounds! the girl is gorgeous and its so annoying, i WISH i could look like her. and when i try to give her advice on what i'm doing because its obviously working better than stabbing myself 5 times a day, she doesn't want to hear it because its too much work, and she gets upset when i tell her i've lost more. i want her to be happy for me and do it with me! ugh.

1. I hate that the less you weigh, the less calories you burn while exercising!

2. My mom isn't very supportive of me when it comes to losing weight, I understand she is afraid because we have a history of eating disorders in our family, but I am not going to be one of those people. It has been different since I turned eighteen though, she isn't so negative.

The ridiculous amount of sodium in almost everything in the grocery store. If it comes in a box or a can, it's overloaded with sodium!! I don't usually add salt to my food and I am usually over the recommended amount. SHEESH Yell

When I don't put the scale in the right level spot and it gives me two different weights. It really annoys me, especially when the first weight was much much lower.

It drives me NUTS when a certain someone I live with pigs out and says, "Well, I haven't eaten anything ALL DAY."  Right....so eat 1,000 calories in one meal...that's the way to do it...UGH!

Besides, did you forget that you already had breakfast and lunch?  Just because they were tiny meals, doesn't mean they don't count....

1.  "Cheat days", I abuse the living crap out of this concept on a weekly basis which results in feeling bloated, lazy and ashamed of myself.  Somehow though each week there I am again waiting to abuse myself, quite annoying.

2.  Having food forced on me by others even when they are completely aware that I am counting calories and am no longer fond of high sugar, high fat crap.
I've begun to think that it's some level of subconcious sabotage on their behalf, they are overweight and doing nothing about it but are either jealous/angry that someone else is.

3. When people are like "ohh i'm so fat look at my thighs" when my thighs are twice as big and i am bigger than them. I mean I am at a heathy BMI so I wouldn't do that because I would be too embarrased to do that! BUT SOME PEOPLE OH MAN. I mean they be like I am so fat, and its like then what am I like a flippin hippo?

If it helps, for number 3, I never looked at it that way. Out of my for closest friends, I'm right in the middle when it comes to weight. But even when I'm having one of those phases where I hate my size and I feel bad about myself, I've never thought of them in a negative way. I think my friend's that weigh more than me are perfect just the way they are. Them losing a few pound won't make me like them anymore or less

...which is why I still don't get why I think about myself the way I do at times. As one of my friends puts it I'm "optimistic about everything... excluding myself."

When you find out th "snack" you had at the local chicken and bisquit place actually has more calories than you have consumed in two full meals..and...YOU ARE STILL HUNGRY.

When you skip that second butter milk biscuit because the chicken has to have less calories right?? Wrong.

I have promised myself not to eat out anymore without proper nutritional info.
