What's your weight loss pet pieve?
I have a couple
1. My roommate LOST weight by not thinking about calories and only eating when she was hungry. She would eat until she's full, and just stop. And this would account to like, 1200 calories. She's like, 5'5" and 108 right now. She went abroad last spring to Spain and she was 115 then.. she said that was when she would constantly thing about weight. It pisses me off how losing weight can come natural for her!
2. When eating a SMALL piece of cheesecake takes an hour of vigorous running on the elliptical to redeem myself.
3. When losing water weight isn't actually fat.
Reason: 4/14/08: Stickied. 4/21/08: Unstickied
You know.. I actually recently came to the conclusion that I don't little skinny semi-anorexic girls who pretend they eat SO much. For example, my friend and I went to Jack in the Box last weekend and she ordered their 99cent tacos and a burger. And I ordered curly fries and a pita wrap. Then afterward, she made her Facebook status "I just ate 2 tacos, a huge burger, curly fries, and now sipping on orange soda.." But in reality, she only had 1 of her tacos, half her burger, and 2 pieces of MY curly fries.
If you don't eat, don't pretend you do! Gosh it's so annoying.

"2. I hate that I have becoming increasingly "high maintenance" at restaurants. I now seem neurotic and picky when ordering. Restaurants are just hard all around. I don't like that eating out is one of the primary ways people socialize nor do I like that I don't have control over how my food is prepared at restaurants. Eating at home is so much better, then I can just enjoy cooking and making good whole nutritious food and I don't have to worry about being the high maintance weird food person."
I have definately felt this way too. I've had my husband, my brother, friends, and even the server make comments about how complicated my order is (no butter, dressing on side/low cal only, no sauce/cheese, etc.). How totally embarrassing. Why can't they make all of those things the stuff you have to request? Healthy is the standard (and initial cost lower because of less ingredients), and the "add-ons" are available for those who want to partake for a modest sum. Seems like a win-win, but what do I know...
Constantly thinking about food!
I am always counting in my head, always thinking and planning and even emailing myself from work everytime I eat something so I can log it at home!
I am so over it!

I've worked in Customer Service off and on my whole life, what I've learned is that resturaunts offer their services to us: Food Preperation. I'm paying for it, so I'm going to pay for what I enjoy. Why should I shell out my hard-earned money for something I don't like, bc I don't want to inconvience others? Friends and family will understand if I tell them what's going on, so who gives a ****?

Take it from somone who's worked in the food industry in the past - the cooks almost always frown upon substitutions. It throws off their whole assembly line, especially on a busy weekend night when dishes are flying out of the kitchen.
It's one thing to ask for sauce on the side or no cheese or something easy like that but to change the recipe entirely... my mental midget of a kitchen manager used to always say "If they want it their way they can go to Burger King". (He also suffered from Napoleon Syndrome)
Another peeve:
Packaging that boasts "Fewer Calories" or "Reduced Fat" when all that's changed is the serving size.

With all due respect to your cooks, it's not my responsibility to worry about others orders. ![]()
I HATE cheese with a passion and it's pretty much on every single meal in the states. It's like people order cheese with a side of something out here. I don't make substitutes to recipes, I just don't like cheese and ask for dressing on the side. I don't go to resturaunts for a fast food experience...I expect it to take a while bc it's better, but I wont compromise on the little things.
1) packaging that says low fat.. aka they pumped up the sugar..
2) 50g serving nutrition information on a 80g package of ______ (If its 80g put the info to match)
3) I really really hate it when people ask how did you do it.. they dont want to hear that it was time, energy and dedication.. they want to hear about the pill, shake, self hypnosis that I MUST be doing to have lost 80 pounds lol
4) people who tell my hubby he needs to lose weight and then 2 minutes later lay a plate of goodies in front of him and say he should "treat" himself every now and then and make him feel bad if he doesnt try at least a bite.
wow that was really catty.. ok I be done now ![]()
edited to add .. (guess I wasn't done)
5) why is it that healthier choices are more expensive?. yes I know beans lentils are cheap.. I buy them.. I mean the somewhat packaged healthy food choices.. its expensive to eat healthy and cheap to eat towards clogged arteries
6) and why is there so much salt in everything.. I pay 1/3 x more for my no salt added tomato sauce then the regular sauce... why. because they didnt use salt.. so if it keeps in the can.. and dont need salt as a preservative.. why arent more companies offering this??
ok time to stop the insanity.. this time I really am done.. I think

Yeah, sorry if that came out as accusatory.. wasn't trying to call you out or anything. I just used to get the dirtiest looks from the kitchen as a server when I'd put some crazy order in from a customer who wanted some decadent meal prepared with no cream/butter/salt/oil etc. They'd always try to deconstruct a dish instead of just ordering something simple. (like grilled chicken and vegetables instead of chicken marsala)
One more peeve - losing weight disproportionately. Like when your thighs are holding up your pants instead of your hips ![]()
1. losing 20 lb and I still havent dropped a size!
2. I cant hide my diet before my colleagues... they all know!!
3. going out to restaurants is so incredibly hard!
4. that it takes sooooo long to drop 80 lb!
No prob ccasidy :) My bf was a server and she would hate making the cooks mad.
- Having constantly been on every diet under the sun for the past few years, and always winding up right back where I started. Intuitive eating, hell yeah.
- Obsession with food. I'd have so much mental energy left over for things that actually matter if I weren't focusing constantly on my next meal or how many calories I have left to "spend" I could take over the world. It's so much more stress than it's worth, and naturally my response to stress is to eat.
- Getting so much crap from people for being on a diet that it now needs to be a closely guarded secret. It's like once that comes out, everyone starts forcing candy, sweets, and fried foods at you just to bring you "back down to their level." I guess the thought of someone trying to better themselves just ignites that competitive fire in some women.
- The fact that healthy food costs crap loads. We don't even have a choice anymore-- a family of three with a single mother and two teenagers? It's peanut butter jelly time. Don't get me started on the gym memberships.
People who really believe that losing weight is as simple as eat less and exercise more. If I found those things so easy, do they not think I'd be skinny by now?! They really don't understand people who eat for comfort, boredom, stress etc.
I hate my own lack of willpower too.
Eating out with other people. If a friend orders a substantial meal with sides and a milkshake, I feel awkward by getting just a chicken sandwich.
Know what I hate about weight loss? How it'll just bring me up to "average" with everyone else. I was walking through the school food court the other day and thinking "wow, look at all these skinny girls eating this crap, they are so lucky..." but then I actually looked around and lo and behold - the boys had the chic fil a and burgers in front of them, the girls were all daintily sipping a small starbucks drink or eating a salad or plain pita, something like that. So basically, I hate how everyone is doing it and I feel like I'm struggling just to keep up with the norm.
Side fact: 19 year olds are the skinniest age ever. Hate that too, as I just turned 19. If you go to http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.htm and put in for your BMI, scroll down and set your age, turning 19 makes the percentage of people that you are heavier than greater. I'm at 46 percent among 19 year olds, but at this same weight at 18 or 20 I'd be at 44 percent.
Re: tealparadise body mass index by age.
46 percent is bad? Try 57 percent. Tis what I am -_-;, at 19 yo
And I so get your whole everyone eats crap(burgers, chicken nuggets, fries) I bring lunch to college, and the microwave is between the burger/mexican food restaurant, and the pizza/lasagna restaurant. So everyday I'm gloomily microwaving my food, watching the oh so skinny boys and girls eating their crap food, and drinking soda or very sugary smoothies.
And in my case, many of the girls will also be the ones eating the crap. -_-; I ordered at school today, and I was walking away with my modified fajita burrito(no rice, black beans, extra veggies, chicken), I saw a couple pretty skinny girls walk by with deep fried crispy chicken strips, ranch sauce, and french fries. -_-;;;
I hate it when your friends and/or coworkers know you're dieting and they ask you what you ate or what you're eating....and then they throw in their comments (everyone has a different diet ya know...nobody agrees what you're eating is right...) it's so frustrating and they can be quite judgmental! Makes you wanna eat in private!

Ommggggg. Don't even talk to me about fajita burritos! I run through nearly all my meal allowance on those things, except I get the bol version because my school's in-house generic place has cruddy tortillas and I'm not "paying" 300 calories for them! They make up for it by having the option to get portabella mushrooms instead of meat some days.
BTW - I started out at 58% when I first came to college last year~ so it can definitely be done!
After living with my randomly assigned stick-thin roommate last year, I can say with confidence that those girls eating crap just don't consider food. My roomie was vegetarian, which meant that she ate papa john's pizza, Taco bell, and yogurt. That was it. All. YEAR. She just didn't care at all about what she ate, and would forget to eat, or be too lazy to go out and get food when she was hungry.... It was so surreal to me. She just didn't care at all about food. She didn't keep anything but drinks and some yogurt in our fridge, while I had the whole thing stocked with healthy stuff.
If it makes you feel better, she was completely malnourished and got sick all the time and didn't take care of herself at all.
The odd thing is I traded heaps of fat for muscle, lost about 5lbs max overall, and 2 pants sizes and 1 shirt size. I'm now confused as to whether I really want to just decrease myself, or stay like this.
I live at home now, but OMG I was also assigned a stick-thin roommate. Well, she weighed as much as a stick, but she claims she's all skinny fat. She's not vegetarian, actually, she's very fond of meat and potatoes(for being 100lbs and 4'11 tall). Its a miracle if she makes breakfast once in a week, it won't be surprising if she oversleeps dinner at least once a week too, with her NIGHT owl sleeping schedule and having the occasional morning class.
She didn't eat too badly, as in taco bell all the time, but she never went my way of making sure I had half a plate of vegetables, 1/4 plate of protein, etc. Her part of our food supply consisted of frozen pbj sandwiches(so much sugar and refined flour), monsters(don't even want to know), milk(not bad), and cereal. It was only after living with me a little while, and seeing how healthy I tried to be, that she kinda got inspired to switch out to special k cereal from frosted flakes, and attempted to exercise.
Made it for a few weeks, got busy and instantly dropped it again. xD
And uh, my stick thin roommate was actually more resilient than me. I got sick more often! x.x
