What's your weight loss success story to date?

Quote  |  Reply

To give some motivation to others as well as to reach our own goals lets get together and share the success we've had to date. Also lets please share 1 tip with others that helped you in order to get results.

Start Date: July 15/07

Start Weight: 163

Current Weight: 126.5

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 41

# of lbs lost since start: 36.5

Goal Weight: 120

Tip: WALK!! Everyday on your lunch break. To a further bus stop than the one outside your door. Down a few flights of stairs to use the "restroom facilities" on a different floor. Walk over to speak to a co-worker instead of dialing their extension. Anywhere that you could walk in 15 min do not drive the car. Walk up a flight or two to do laundry on a different floor if you have communal laundry facilities. Just WALK as much as possible.

What a fun idea. Here is mine

Start Date: Jan 3, 2008

Start Weight: 227

Current Weight: 184.6

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: aprox 16

# of lbs lost since start: 43 pounds

Goal Weight: 143

Tip: For me I drank tons of Pepsi, I would suggest to stop drinking pop, replace it with a diet drink and exercise at least three times a week.

Start Date: July 10th 2006

Start Weight:294

Current Weight: 121

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: NO idea. Do I really need to count? :)

# of lbs lost since start:173. Yea you read right

Goal Weight: 121

Tip:

Waste is waste. If you're "done" eating, and still have food left, dont feel obligated to eat it. No matter if you trash it or eat it (or box it if you can stand left overs lingering around), it all ends up in the dump. :)

TO ALL OF YOU-WOW! Thanks so much for sharing your stories and tips! It's always motivating for me to hear success stories.

Did any of you fall of the wagon during your weight loss? Was it an all or nothing approach?

Thanks again for the inspiration!

Yes I took vacation Three weeks into starting to loose weight, so I gained any thing I had lost at that point.  Essentially starting back at square one.

Start Date: March 24, 2008

Start Weight: 300

Current Weight: 277

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 6 Weeks (technically 9 but I had to restart due to vacation)

# of lbs lost since start: 23

Goal Weight: 220

Tip:  Get moving it is the easiest thing to do and any thing counts.  Walk around the block once in the morning and once at night, take the stairs even if it is just down, chase your kids around the house any thing to get moving.  Weight Training works best for me, so I started lifting weights 1st, then started counting calories.  Figured out my deficit to what I can handle vs what is the most I can have vs what I was taking in.  I am now at the point of where I need/want to start caring about where those calories are coming from and try to get the most out of what I take in.  Tip # 2 don't change every thing at once, it will be to much for you to take and you will probably end up failing.  Take the steps necessary to ensure that it is a life style change vs a DIET.  Also have faith in your self you can do it if you want it bad enough.

Start date: February 21, 2007

Start weight: 168

Current weight: 143

Number of weeks: No idea

Pounds lost: 25

Goal weight: I don't really have a goal number. I'll start maintaining again when I'm happy with my body.

Tip: Don't deprive yourself of anything. If you want an occasional treat, have it - just don't go overboard.

Edited to add: I absolutely fell off the wagon for quite a while. First I got sick, then we had a string of vacations, then I got sick again, then we moved, I started school again, etc. Looking back, I could have made more time for exercise (the only thing that really killed my progress. I still continued to eat well, I just wasn't as mindful of my calories and wasn't working out), but I'm just happy to be back in the game now.

I stated in late February '08 at about 265. I'm now down to somewhere between 215 and 218. Check gallery for photographic evidence.

Pro tip: Never lose focus. As bleak as things may seem, you can work your way out of a bad situation. You gotta stay committed.

Start Date: Jan 1 2008

Start Weight: 187.5

Current Weight: 149.5

# of lbs lost since start: 37

Goal Weight 120

Tip: 3o minutes of cardio about 5 days a week and 30 minutes of weight training 3-5 days a week and have 1 free day a week where I will have fast food or something sweet so I dont feel deprived

Please note that my start date is not when I started CC, but when I started changing my diet to eat healthier.

Start Date: June 24, 2007

Start Weight: 370.6 (actually this is from about 2 weeks into my plan)

Current Weight: 256.0

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 27

# of lbs lost since start: 114.6

Goal Weight: 210

Tip: Set small attainable goals (like losing 10 pounds) and focus on them instead of on the final target weight. Also don't let the scale stress you out. It's only a number and even if you aren't losing as much or as fast as you would like, the benefits of eating healthier and exercising more are still worth all of the effort you put into it.

Edited to add:  I have had a couple of short stalls along the way, but I just stick with my plan.  And if the stall gets to be really annoying, I do something to shake things up, like doubling the amount of cardio I do in a week or having a day where I plan on having up to double my normal calorie allowance.

So I always lose a couple pounds, get really hungry for a while, eat a lot, and regain weight. That's why it's going so slow. Right now I think I'm starting to get into that hungry mode again so I gotta curb my cravings! I don't know if this counts a success story but I'm almost halfway there so I think that's pretty good. (All the weights are from in the morning after I get up and poop.. haha)

Start Date: January 1st, 2008

Start Weight: 113

Current Weight: 107

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: ~17

# of lbs lost since start: 6

Goal Weight: 100

Tip: If you like grapefruit, definitely eat a lot of that. It's pretty big as far as fruits go, and they're only about 60-80 calories. Also, they take a long time to peel so you get to eat for a long time but it's so few calories. And exercise of course and do some actual situps cause your stomach muscles can get pretty beast from those.

Start Date: January 27, 2008

Start Weight: 277

Current Weight: 245

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 97 days

# of lbs lost since start: 32

Goal Weight: 125-135 depending on how i feel and look

Tip: Take your thyroid meds if the dr prescribes them! lol. Also, in the beginning especially, weigh out your foods so you have a good idea on portion size and calories. Last, Try one new raw vegetable a week and find a way to eat more of it!

Start Date: Nov'06'

Start Weight: 287

Current Weight: 178.6

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: Um...for real?  probably since I started CC-66

# of lbs lost since start: 108.4

Goal Weight: 155-140 (I'll decide when I get to 155)

Tip: work your favorite foods into your healthy eating rather than trying to avoid or cut them out altogether.  Realize that sometimes that means learning how to prepare them differently through trial and error.

Start Weight (before CC) 105kg

CC Start date 20th Jan 2008

CC Start Weight 91kg

Current Weight 80kg

# of weeks healthy lifestyle - several years

# of lbs lost 11 kgs since January (25lbs?)

Goal Weight 65 kgs (BMI 23)

Tip - Exercise is key to maintaining a deficit.  Do something every day to raise your heartrate for 30mins, force yourself to make it a habit.  Soon, your day will feel wrong without 30+ mins of exertion.  Then you truly have made this a lifestyle.

Also  - weigh everything, and watch your portions

FANTASTIC IDEA!

Start Date: February 6, 2008

Start Weight: 300

Current Weight: 269.6

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 13

# of lbs lost since start: 32

Goal Weight: unknown (I'm gonna see what happens at 160)

Tip: Recognize that this whole things is going to be the way you live the rest of your life.  I'm 23 so, God willing, that will be a very long time.  There will be Birthdays and Holidays...don't deprive yourself of the goodies- just make sure you have an occation to spluge instead of just a craving to satisfy.  Then, get right back on the Wagon the next day.  Think of is as building your will power.

Tip#2:  Keep healthy snacks available at all times...a granola bar in the car, single serving bags of trail mix in your desk or your purse.  Having these options available at all times and within arms reach of where ever I am keeps me from making poor choices when I'm hungry or even just bored.  Someone brings in cupcakes to the office and you don't think you can say no, stuff your face with trail mix and move on.  You're hungry in the car on the way home and are coming up on your favorite fast food restaurant- shove a granola bar in your mouth and keep driving.

SERIOUSLY- if I can do this ANYONE can...even you!  So keep your head up and "Spread the health":o)

Start Date: 4/6/2008

Start Weight: 196

Current Weight: 190

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 4

# of lbs lost since start: 6

Tip: eat filling high fiber and high protein foods. Eat SLOWLY and chew and savor every bite. Exercise and really sweat...you will feel so much better! Weight train, it builds muscle, which burns more calories while resting. Eat what you like, refer to your calorie count log often to keep on track and don't wig out if you have a bad day here and there. Just start over again immediately (don't wait until the next day. Stop the bleeding now!). Don't let hunger get out of control but don't freak out if you are hungry for a little bit. You won't die of it.

Start Date: 8/01/07

Start Weight: 164

Current Weight: 134

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 39

 Very good and true words!!!

Thanks! I think committing to yourself to losing weight is like quitting smoking or drugs: you have to be 100% ready. You have to realize it's not going to happen overnight. After a few false starts, there just comes a point where you say "Today is the day" and get on with it!

Start Date: Dec 30 2007

Start Weight: 210

Current Weight: 163

# of weeks of healthy lifestyle: 18

# of lbs lost since start: 47lbs

Goal Weight: short term ~ 150   long term ~ 130

TIP: Think about everyone's faces when they start to notice the weight coming off.  it's the greatest feeling in the world.  It's worth all the pain!
