hello,
I'm new here I just started my diet on the 24th of may after I got back from a doctor's appointment where I found out that I weighed in close to 400lbs yeah it's scary for me too, I've started to walk every other day and since my dog needs to lose weight too I take him on walks with me lol, well any way I've decided to work out in my home for 15 minutes  each day and continue to walk every other day along with a low calorie healthy diet, but I'm ccurious as to what other people say the best time of day to excise is?

I have heard different ideas on the subject but it comes down to when you wanna do it. You will not lose more at a certain time of day. I exercise at night, around 7pm about 2 hours after dinner because I do my elliptical for 40 minutes and it whips my A$$, so I just wanna relax after.
I think it all just comes down to calories in/out at the end of the day...I don't think it really matters when you exercise, just as long as your doing it!

It's great that you are trying to lose weight, your off to a great start!! Keep up the good work and you will be amazed at your progress, they say people with more to lose tend to lose weight faster so don't get discouraged...you will have amazing results to show us soon and we are looking forward to helping you along the way..this place is great!
i seem to perform better in the evenings as appose to the mornings  i dont know why i guess thats when my body is at its peak
I have heard that exercising in the morning is the best time of day (rather than afternoon or night). I think this is perhaps because getting your metabolism going early on will keep it moving faster for the rest of the day.

But if you simply can't exercise in the morning, exercising in the afternoon or at night is better than not doing it at all!
I personally run in the morning to start my metabolism, and then lift/play sports in the afternoon (gives me something to do). Granted, I run in the morning also because that's the only time I can. (5:15 wake up. It's nice and cool outside during the summer though.)

So yeah, I've also heard that exercising in the morning is the best time of day, and I tend to agree.

But if you can't exercise in the morning, any time will do. It's all about personal preference.

I find that exercising before you eat a meal is the best thing to do, especially before breakfeast because you give your metabolism a jump start. I also read this article that made things so easy. If you don't have time in the morning then walk for 5-10 minutes before you have lunch and 5-10 minutes before dinner. It isn't that rigorous, but it can curb appetite and I have always found that if I exercise before I eat then I am less likely to eat things that are bad for me. Good luck and keep up the good work!
An effective time to workout at is in the late afternoon around 4-6 pm. Research has shown that working out at this time also gives you a better nights sleep. If you work out after those hours, your body will have more energy due to chemicals released when you exercise, and you will not fall asleep as fast.

Actually, I've heard that you can burn more calories by exercising in the morning because you are more rested from sleeping so you tend to exercise more vigorously.  Like kristinedaqueen, though, it doesn't fit into my schedule well because then I'd have to get up around 3 am to exercise.  Also, I've heard that people tend to have heart attacks more often while exercising in the morning (that only pertains to people that already have heart disease, though!)
