a lot of diets use this to help with muscle and body health.

another low calorie protien source: seaweed

you can get that in tablet form or shake formulas.
I drink one or two whey drinks a day to boost my dietary protein level.  I absolutely love Syntrax Nectar powder and can recommend the fuzzy navel flavor.  It's really good.  I mix it with water and add some ice.  It tastes like juice.  This time I ordered the cappucino flavor.  I haven't gotten it yet.  I don't like the cherry or apple or caribbean cooler though.  My buddy likes the lemon tea.  Anyway, it is really good, has no carbs or fat and only 90 calories.  It has 23 gms of protein.

The other one I like is Isopure in the bottle, but it's an expensive treat in my budget.  It's delish!

Whey protein is good for you in moderation.  I'm not a bodybuilder.  I drink it because I had weight loss surgery and have to make sure to get enough protein.  I read that it boosts your immunity.  Also, since it's made from milk, it slims the waistline too.

I order my Nectar from vitacost.com.  They have great prices and low shipping and handling.
Yeah, it's healthy and can be very useful if you aren't getting enough protein in your diet.
Whey protein and egg white protein are supposedly the two best choices for protein absorption/availability; better than plant proteins, per gram, and better than meat sources. Plus, they don't have the fat that meat tends to. I don't use them because I don't consume animal products, but if I did, whey would be my first choice.

Whey is great.  It is great to use about an hour and 15 minutes before a workout and immediately following a workout.  Whey has the fastest release and amino acid availiabiltiy of any protein so it is the optimal choice anytime you want to boost protein synthesis (like  pre/post workout).  I'd suggest a blended protein (whey/soy/casein/egg) any other time.
I have been unable to find any non commercial references for whey protein.  I'm not sure that claims by companies selling products is realiable.

There are a lot of scientific articles out there, and plenty of research.  What I don't see is information useful to the general public.
