Whey Protein

Quote  |  Reply

Does anyone prefer a specific brand or do you have a favorite? I have been using the cheap EAS whey from target but I am looking into Optimum Nutrition and BSN Lean Dessert. There is also this kind called Gladiator from Smoothie King. Which one is the best choice? Also, I plan on taking these post-workout, what would be good for a pre-bed or in-the-morning protein? I was thinking maybe the BSN Lean Dessert, Optimum Nutrition Casein, or Muscle Milk. Which of these is best?

what are your goals? are u trying to gain mass? or u just looking to feed you muslces post workout. There are different types of protein for the different times of day. I have spent loot on all of them so let me know & i'll give you my opinion

I want to gain mass with the whey brands and I was thinking as using the casein for a pre bed protein

Ok, casein is great for pre bed & anytime you will be going w/o fueling your body w/protein for an extended period of time. It is also good to mix half & half whey & casein 30 min prior to a workout so you will have a steady flow of protein fueling your muscle prior, durring & after your workout. Of course, just whey alone post workout b/c it's fast digesting & will be asorbed quicker. For gaining mass you HAVE to eat too. So don't forget to get your 3 squares a day & for your 2-3 snack times, supplement w/protein shakes or protein bars.

Hi all,

i'm new to the board.. so hi again!

I'm just getting back in the swing of things for lifting weights. for a while i've had cravings after workouts and didn't do anything about it. To hear there was a purely protein drink was music to my ears, i've only just starting to take any thing for it in WHEY 100% optimum nutrition and its stopped the cravings!

I take it 30-1hr before workout and within 15 minutes after a workout.

I'm trying to gain muscle but also lose weight. i'm eating 5 meals a day on a day of rest, and 5 meals a day with also 2 x protein shake.

I eat:

Breakfast: 7.30am 2 eggs , 1 sausage. Snack10.30am: banana yogurt. Lunch1.30pm: home-made soup(600g). Snack3pm: 2 pieces of fruit. Dinner 6pm: half salad half meat with sauce.

My calorie intake is between 2,000 - 2,200 while buring 3-3,500.

Is this ok? Do you have any advice for me?
