Maintaining
Moderators: iae

Its no good.  I have a couple drinks most nights.  The whiskey puts me over my self-imposed 1500 calorie limit.  for the past four weeks, I ruin the limit by almost 150 cals b/c of those late-night whiskey drinks.  I use diet caffeine free coke to mix and have limited myself to one (two occasionally) but I'm just a hungry lady!!!! :)

so, what do you do?  how do you 'not miss' the night cap? is it just me?  please tell me.... SOON!!

Thanks, Jenn

Stop having a couple drinks most nights :/

CC doesn't require people to give up a lot, but alcohol is usually the first thing to go on ANYONE's list when they are trying to lose weight..

ps. I notice you're in maintaining forum... how can you be maintaining on only 1500 calories? That sounds real low. maybe add in some exercise to boost that up because 1500 would defdinitely not be mentally sustainable for me!

Your night cap is just a bad habit... Pleasant, admittedly, but a bad habit nonetheless.   I got very overweight partly by drinking a couple of glasses of wine with each evening meal.  Sometimes these things just have to go.  I limit it to 2 glasses a week these days and drink mineral water or elderflower cordial instead.

If you tend to be a 'hungry lady', the 150 cals you're using on booze, could maybe be better spent increasing your food intake.  Real food is more satisfying than alcohol.   Plus, alcohol is an appetite stimulant.... doesn't help the hunger.

I agree with the other post that 1500 sounds very low for a maintenance figure.   Even a sedentary 40-something woman like myself can maintain on 1900 a day.  Maybe you'd benefit from more to eat in general?

I drink on friday night, however tonight I could probably use one :) I say add in some exercise, or don't have one each and every night.

I too maintain at 1500 calories. I allow myself to gain 2 pounds on the weekend and then drop them on the week day eating 1200-1400 calories.

I'm going to agree with everyone else...limit your alcohol intake or adjust your exercise so that you can afford it.
