Who's made your day today?
There's so much hate in the world, on the web, in life....even here on CC.
I've decided to ask a different question:
What groups in society make your day?
What people have you encountered today that made you smile. Who let you out when you were trying to take a left hand turn, who held the door for you... etc etc
Today my boyfriend got me a water when I was working out.
My brother said "good morning" to me.
My roommate sat outside and chatted with me while I drank my coffee.
My kitties (3 of them) all came to greet me when I woke up this morning.
My boyfriend is helping me clean out the garage.
There are new sticks of incense someone brought into the house for us to use.
....so many...
i haven't actually left the house yet today (haha) but i'm about to... so hopefully someone will be worth posting about.
BUT
yesterday
- i left my apartment in the morning to go to the grocery & an elderly couple were sitting on a bench outside of my apartment building singing some churchy song that sounded really pretty. they both waved to me and smiled when i walked by.
- my neice (she's 3) called me to tell me she mailed me something and that i'll love it because she "drawed" herself on the envelope. she also told me she misses me and picked me an apple and i about broke down in tears. she's back home in MA and i'm living in TX with my husband for a little bit longer.
- my husband told me my hair looked cute totally out of nowhere and for no reason
giggle_puppy I actually didn't read any of your posts in that other thread. I only read a half a page....but please feel free to take any credit you'd like anytime! :)
I haven't left the house yet either, but as good as I am a dishing the hate out, I'm even better at showing my love for-
My friends. They are so good to me, they make me laugh, they're fun to be with, but the most important thing is that they're there for me all the time, no matter what.
Some of my family members. See above.
but my sister made my day my making me some soup....what a sweetheart <3
I really needed the vent.
I am thankful for my Lord, and my husband, son, parents, friends and animals. They make may days happier.
It was nice to meet a friend of my sons from high school today during lunch. He had a wonderful smile and was kind plus a good waiter. (I guess he was wanting that extra tip). Oh well - he got it.
It made my day to see that someone started this post in response to the "hate" thread posted.
The TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" makes my day. I saw one the other day about a family whose house blew up while they were on vacation. Even though they had nothing, they gave some of their clothes to another family who lost everything in Katrina. Extreme Makeover built them a new house. That made my day.
I recently won a smart board for my classroom. It is a wonderful teaching tool that engages students in interactive learning.
So......it made my day today when I went to my room to prepare for the next week and noticed that our WONDERFUL tech department installed a brand new Elmo on their day off on Friday. The Elmo allows me to project books and other works onto my smart board. Now I can get rid of that dreaded old overhead projector.
Gosh I love my district!![]()
Happy Labor Day everyone! It's almost over :(
Once, I was feeling really low about my weight and my life in general and I met a woman waiting to die. She had a black eye and was terminal. Her husband beat her and told her he couldn't wait for her to die. She just wanted peace, she said. She had a little brat 15 year old daughter who had just had a child. This girl sat in the car listing to the radio while her terminally ill mother toted around her baby in the dollar store, while spilling her life story to me as we shopped. Maybe this didn't exactly make my day, but it taught me a lesson in perspective.
My son told me the other day that I am so skinny and he always tells me I look pretty.
My patients make my day. They are dying, but live with courage and hope... well, most do anyway.
tatjanaturtle made my day today because she reminded me to be grateful! Thanks!
I started at a new store (I work for a major retailer) and I am thankful for the reception I got there today. The people who work there just went through some very poor management and I was heartened to see so many good people there.
I also met some customers there I had met over two years ago who remembered me! They were the nicest people I have met in a long time.
I love the support we give each other in this forum. I think there are so many good people here who really try to help each other it is amazing to me.
As far as groups of people, I find amazing things in everyone. It was so sad to me to see that other thread and the intolerance that went with it. Bashing immigrants and poor people. People who are struggling with problems. People with different values or belief systems. I wish that everyone who sees a group that annoys them would try to find something good in them, or at least try to accept them for who they are. Try to picture yourself walking a mile in their shoes. It would be a better world if we, instead of focusing on the bad in people, focused on the good. The world would be a very boring place if everyone was the same!
Today's going to be a long day...but I'm thankful I work for the person I do.
Every day I realize how fortunate I am to learn from him and to work for a person with such patience and understanding.
My boss makes my day every day!
Ha ha!!! The brownie thing....that's awesome, my boyfriend and brother do the same for me!
