who's 5'8 and size X; what do you weigh?
Ok i ice skate and my coach recommended 110 , originally i asked what size i would be in another weight loss topic. A few people answered , and explained how that was a ridicoulous weight for 5'8. However , im still courious , but more courious about other's stats similar to my height.
Hey, I too am 5'8", still growing, since I'm only 14 =)
Anyways, yeah, I think 110 is a couple pounds too low. I run, and my doctor said a teenage girl runner shouldn't be lower than 115, which is my goal to get up to. I am at about 110 right now and I personally think I'd look better with a few more pounds.
Since you skate, I'd say you shouldn't be anywhere lower than 115. For our height however, 120-135 is actually where we should be around. 115 would still put us underweight. I am not promoting you to have an unhealthy BMI. I am unsure of your build, so I think you should talk to your doctor about a healthy weight for you.
But in answer to your question, then yes I think 110 is tooooo low for 5'8"!
kuhristenn: I think she wants the question answered like this..5'6'' 148lbs size 8/10. In order for her to gauge what weight she needs to be for that size range.
OP: sorry I can't help I'm too short! Maybe you could tell us what size you need to be and the people coult list their weights.
yeah 115 sounds good. But im curious since we both do very strenous activities. what size are you , if you dont mind me asking? ^^
thanks kuhristenn , thats what i was looking for =]
i need to be size 2 .
I am most comfortable in a size 3 Long. Lol
I have been buying lots of shorts lately for summer, and I continue getting size 3, even though I could fit into ones or twos, just because I want to get my fuller booty back by summer =)
But for you as a skater, just make sure you are eating enough and don't drop into an extremely low weight because competetive sports can sometimes cause that. Especially ones where it's kinda steriotypical to be really thin, like running or skating. We just gotta stay healthy =)
lol lucky! i have average length legs and id give anything for long legs XD
Lol yeah my legs seem like they go on for miiiiiles Lol
Do you skate competitively, navvygrl?
yeah competitions are a big part of my life , i also run on my high school track team i did cross country to ! What about you do you run in lond distant compitions?
O and i hope you dont mind me asking another personal question but since you said you were a size 3 , whats ur weight?
i'm 5'8" @ 140, size 8
my best friend is 5'8", freakishly tiny, 120, size 4. she's that person you look at on the street and think - "god she's skinny."
I'm 5'8, about 130 and also a size 8. Its weird how the weight number has little relation to size.
weird. i'm 5'8'', 155ish and wear about a size 9. some 8s and some 10s. when i was 125 (too skinny for me...) i was a size 3-4. oh, and i'm the definition of an apple.

i need to be size 2 .
Why do you "need" to be a size 2? - it's just a number and may not be attainable for your frame size (and muscularity since you're a skater)
It doesn't make sense for you coach to tell you to be at that weight because to perform all those spins and jumps, don't you need to have a strong body? And I can't think that 110 lbs on a 5'8" frame would allow for anything besides being really sickly looking.
I, myself, am 5'8" and 163 lbs but I'm told I hide it well, whatever that means ;P
I usually pick a size 10 when shopping.
Like startlit, I used to be 125 lbs and I think that was too skinny as well.
Your coach better stop thinking that all people have the same body shape and size for their height. It's just not like that.
yeah i agree. Im the biggest girl in my skating class , and of her private students . I alos have a large bone frame. I believe that contributes in some way,
You probably shouldn't fixate so much on weight, since your bone structure and muscle mass might be different than average. I'd think if you are doing ice skating you might be more muscular than the average girl, and therefore weigh a bit more at the same size.
I would agree - don't fixate on the weight. Make sure you have enough meat on your bones to actually do what you want to - skate! FYI though, I'm 5'6" and 120 lbs, and that puts me at the size 0-2 (long, because I have long legs for my body).
I am 5'8 130, size 2-4 depending on brand.
I think I would be dead if I weighed 110.
These threads are really useless. As I said on your other thread, you cannot assess what weight you should be to reach a certain size. Everyone is different, depending on bones and muscle and other factors.
You absolutely cannot go by a number on a scales. Ice skaters have enormous muscle and very little body fat so may weigh a lot (remember muscle weighs quite a bit more than fat and muscular people are often surprisingly "heavy" but look slim, slender and toned).
Be careful what you are doing to yourself.
I'm probably closer to 5"9 and I weigh about 136.5 pounds. I'm a size 4 in US sizes, which is around what we call a size 8 here in New Zealand!
I'm 5' 8" and weigh 135 lbs. I wear a size 4 or 6 depending on the brand.
