Who's going to support the junk food companies?
seriously, think about it!
okay so basically every woman you know is on a diet, and wont eat this junkfood, athletes[teen and adult] CANT eat these things, healthy concious and vegans cant either
SO WHO'S EATING THEM? AND WHY ARE THESE COMPANIES STILL AROUND?!?!
its been bothering me lately
Everyone else that makes up the groups that you didn't list, which is, sadly, probably more than half of the people in America.
Junk food has little to no effect on most teenage athletes, it isn't like they gain weight or develop diabetes from it. Everyone I knew in high school ate some type of candy, especially the athletes. When you're young and active, you tend to burn it off quite easily.
In college, the women would run to the snack machines and get chips or crackers after class or during breaks in three-hour classes.
Generalizations can make poor conclusions.
It's around the early or mid-twenties that most people feel the pangs and misery that an unhealthy diet can cause. Not a lot of people are educated on what it is to eat healthy, and what ingredients can and will kill you.
America is a pre-packaged processed fast food nation in a sodium filled heart diseased obesity epidemic (poor generalization). In rural areas, cooked food at home and mom and pop shops are more superfluous, yet they carry absolutely no nutritional information.
People become less active as they get older and believe that they can continue eating like they did in high school.
There is a study that shows a correlation between education level and good health; i.e. the higher the education level, the better the health. Who gets the education? Socioeconomic status can also affect health: when you're poor, you look for cheap things that make you feel sated, and McDonald's double cheeseburgers and candy are great for that endeavor.
I can think of a 1000 ways how candy companies stay in business. It's simply self-preservation to know what effects an unhealthily diet can wrought, and what foods and ingredients can hurt you.
It is a proven fact: Only a few things can survive in a nuclear holocaust, Candy companies, fast food restaurants, and cockroaches.
In addition to what has already been said, junk food companies rarely only produce junk food.
Think about it. There are tons of companies that produce a huuuuge variety of things; some healthy, some not so healthy. Junk food is cheap. It's still in demand. And as long as people still demand it, companies are going to keep making it.

Yup. The best example I can think of right now is Philip Morris, which is a giant tobacco producer, but who also owned Kraft in the past, which sells both junk and diet/healthy foods (they produce Oreos, but also Boca products *shrug*).
Don't worry. Giant corporations will have methods of staying in business.
I support junk food! I still eat it. So sue me :) We all gotta have a candy bar every once in a while. It's about living. Most people do eat candy and sweets on a weekly occasion. I don't know anyone else that lives a lifestyle like I do, and I still have my moments.
Yes, from a business perspective it is extremely rare that any of these companies would just make junk food because that wouldn't make any sense for them either. So for example, if you drink Propel fitness water and a Tropicana OJ during the day, but wonder why Fritos and Doritos are still floating around, its because that's all part of Pepsico. Those companies aren't evil, they're just making products they have been able to profitably sell in the past. Many are making more health conscious changes, not only because that's what (some) people are asking for, but also to prevent government regulation, particularly for marketing unhealthy food to kids.

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
- Health Score of your overall diet
- Warning when you approach your daily calorie limit
- Overview of the good and bad nutrients
