I got the wii active and wasn't sure about it when i got it, but i love it. I have not sweat like that in a long time. I worked out for a hour start. That is Crazy for me to do, but i didn't want to stop. i was having so much fun. is anyone else using the Wii active to add more activity to your day?
I love it, love it, love it!!! It does a great job of getting me pumped up about exercise to the point that, when I'm done with the 30-day challenge, I go walk for another hour with my dog! With the whole goal setting stuff and the fun workouts, it's a great motivator. I'm trying to convince my parents to buy a Wii just so they can get this game - I'm tired of hearing my mother complain about needing to lose weight lol!!
Are you talking about EA Sports Active?
If so I love that thing more than any of the other workout "games" on the wii. That thing can bust your rump and have you feeling it. I especially like the boxing/kicking exercises that really gets your heart racing.
(Wii Fit itself I kinda don't like anymore cause EA's game gives me such a better workout)
It kicks @$$. Literally and figuratively. It made me use muscles I didn't know I had and even forgot I had. I've never been as sweatty or ached more. Plus, I find it easier to follow than the Fitness Coach. One drawback though is that it doesn't have the a flexibility/stretch component like the Fit or Fitness Coach but I just switch it out when needed.
I use both the Wii Fit & Wii Active at least 6 days a week and love it. I am on my 2nd 30 Day Challenge and kicking some butt! I start off with a 10 minute free run on Fit, switch over to Active and do my 30 Day Challenge and then back to Fit to either do some Yoga, Advanced boxing or some of the strength training and then finish up with a 30 minute free run and a 10 minute free step to cool down. Since June 1st with both counting my calories and working out, I have lost about 14 lbs. Who says video games make you fat?!
I just posted this on another thread, but I've been using Active for 4 days now and it kicks my butt! (which is Awesome!) Makes me sweat like crazy which I have never done using Wii Fit. I'm with Epiphany in that the Fit game doesn't really do much for me anymore. But I still use it. I do the Fit Yoga, Strength Training and Aerobics first as a type of warm up and then move onto Active for the 30 day challenge. I am loving it!
One question though ... what do ya'll think of the resistance band?
For the shoulder presses or exercises that require pretty much my full length body to work I use the band as normal. For exercises like rowing squats and bicep curls I double the band over itself to create more resistance.
The Band is flimsy but if you double it over itself it will be much better.

One question though ... what do ya'll think of the resistance band?
I quit using the resistance band after the first week. I use a couple of 5 lb weights I have. It's kind of tough to hang onto to both the weight and the remote/nunchuk but I have big hands so that helps. I use a trick I learned in high school when working out for football in the off season is if you pretend the weight is actually more than it really is, you can still get a great lifting workout. If you pretend it weighs a ton, you can still build muscle and not get totally sore and it does work.
The band is horrible, but I have small hands and can't hang onto a weight or other type of band with a handle - anyone have any ideas for me??
Maybe you can go to a fitness shop and see if they have a better band you can use. or make your own from a crap load of rubber bands like my brother did.
Also if you use EA Sports Active you OWE it to yourself to get a wireless nunchuk. I used the wireless nunchuk for the first time yesterday and it was like I was in heaven!! (wireless nunchuk pro from icon)
Someone mentioned that Walmart sells different types of resistance bands.
Epiphany ... a wireless nunchuk?! I didn't know there was one! There is one exercise on the Active that I skip over because of the stupid wire connecting the nunchuk. I think it's the Bent Over Rows? The wire gets all in the way of the resistance band and I get so frustrated with it! I'm going to Google the wireless nunchuk!
I love the Active. My husband and I are doing it together and I know I'm getting into better shape. I also use WII fit for the balancing exercises. I'll be 50 at the end of the month and I'm getting into better shape than I ever have been. Still have about 20 pounds to go though...
I've had some problems with the wireless nunchuk and putting it into the leg sleeve. It usually shuts off because of the buttons. I'm still playing with it trying to get it to work better... I'll post if I figure out a solution.
Jamsauer is it the Wireless Playchuk Pro by Icon?
That's the one I have. I bought it cause it's shaped just like the regular Nintendo nunchuk and it fits perfectly into the leg band.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on the bent over rows thing with the wire. This is actually my main reason for buying the wireless nunchuk
My husband and I are looking into getting EA Active but we don't have wii Fit. Do we need the balance board?? EA Active says it's compatible with the board but is it required? Would you recommend we get it?
Thanks!!
You don't have to have the board. When you create your profile, you are given the option of board/no board. I have a board but always choose "no board". That thing is a pain and a hindrance. IMO
I agree! I tried to use the balance board. No thanks. I like to wear my sneakers when I use Active and you can wear them with the balance board.
But no, you don't need the balance board! And I'd definitely buy EA Active over Wii Fit!
