Has anyone tried the Wii Active?  If so, please post what you think about it.......

I just got it this week and I really like it.  I am a stay at home mom and don't have a lot of time to go out to a gym or something.  The workouts really get me moving and sweating and are a lot of fun. I am doing the preset 30day challenge to start but there are a lot of options.

I got it yesterday and tried it for the first time today. I like it. I tried the 30 day challenge and I have created another 200 cal workout in custom workouts to do later....as soon as my legs have had a change to recoup from all the running butt kicks and inline skate routine. (squat jump squat jump---repeat 20x) Haha.

I will use it in addition to my M-F gym routine. Hopefully the new exercises will help me climb out of this plateau. Though, I think I want a stronger resistance band as I've been lifting heavier weights at the gym. I would definately recommend getting it.

I got my on tuesday, I do agree on getting a better resistance band. I usually pull the band that came with it as tight as possible. I still did feel the burn the next day. It really good game I deff recommend it.

I have used my Wii Active for the last three days and I love it.  There are so many activities to do...Tried out the volleyball last night...I suck at serving...will have to work on that.  I am definetly feeling the soreness from the lunges.  I think it will take me quite a while to get bored of these exercises...there seems to be so many of them.

I got mine a couple of days ago and I am pretty impressed!  I'm liking it a lot more than the wii fit!  The boxing is great and being able to make your own routines looks interesting although I am a bit rubbish at tennis but its early days!

And the lunges are killer lol

I just got it today and it looks really good. Seems to give a more intense workout than the wii fit. I think I'll get a more resistant band too.

Where can you get a more resistant band?

I'm also on the 30 day challenge - day 2... low intensity workouts (to get the hang of it)... lovin it!

When i got the wii fit i played it everyday for about 2 weeks then lost my way... got bored i suppose.  However the EA Sports Active - i think i'll be at it a lot longer before i get bored - i don't know how to do 80% of the exercises so i'm learning them and trying to get that calorie counter up so i reckon these guys have cracked it.

I may even consider going to the gym and repeating the workout there in the future... will look much more like i know what i'm doing!

parson you can get a resistance band at walmart or target. I am going to be getting mine from there sometime in the future.

You can order extra resistance bands in various strengths from eBay or Amazon.com too. They connect right to the handles used for Wii Active. I got a stronger one for $6.50 including shipping from here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem &item=190202731361&sspagename=STRK%3A MEWNX%3AIT&viewitem=&salenotsupported

You can also order a 3 pack with various degrees of strength. But I just got one, the heaviest one this company had. Though you can order them even tougher if you get a Theraband Silver or Gold. I'm going to try black first (different colors for different strengths) it's one lighter than the silver.

Hi...just wondering about this Wii Active...I've been doing it for 4 days now....and you wrote something here:

"I got it yesterday and tried it for the first time today. I like it. I tried the 30 day challenge and I have created another 200 cal workout in custom workouts to do later....as soon as my legs have had a change to recoup from all the running butt kicks and inline skate routine. So my question is how do you create a workout to do later???  I see where I can go and pick a workout seperate from the 30 day challenge...and see where I can delete certain excersizes from it. But how do you create your own custom workout?  I want to group all the cardio stuff...tennis, running, volleyball, etc and leave out strength.  Is this possible?

Thanks,

Davie

On the screen where you choose the 30 day challenge, under that there is a square that says (something) & custom workouts--click that. (I'm not at my wii but I know it is the box under 30 day challenge on tht menu) And it will take you straight to preset workouts. But at the top you will notice a tab that says custom. When you click that, you click on the bottom, create your own. Then there are 4 tabs across the top with various types of workouts (cardio, upper body, lower body, sports) and you can nearly pick as many as you want in any order and save as custom workout.

:)

WOW!  I got Active last weekend and just got a chance to check it out.  There is tons of workouts, I am so excited.  I only got to work on my profile etc. last night, but definately doing a workout tonight.  I will report back.....

Thanks findingmeagain!  I would have never seen that and that was my one and only complaint about the game!!!  I appreciate it.

No problem! I love that part too as you can also see how long and how many cals your going to burn when you set up your cutom workouts. So, I can make one if I only have 15 minutes, or if I want to burn 200 cals, etc. Have fun!!

Also...I wear my polar heart rate monitor and I basically DOUBLE in calorie burn what Wii says I burn.  And according to my doc, my monitor is the closest thing to accurate.  I bought it off of his recomendation.  So keep in mind that if Wii says you're burning 200...your more likely to be burning 400!!  Get a Polar monitor....it's very motivating to see what YOUR body is doing.

I got the EA Sport Active game yesterday.  I really like it.  I did a couple of the preset workouts and thought there was too much jumping (it was hard on my knees and back) so I think I may end up making some customized workouts.  I played it with my son (he's 7) and we had a really good time but I think I'm going to need a 2nd leg strap.  Has anyone tried running on a treadmill while on the wii?  Running in place is a little weird.

I really like the cardio boxing!

jodifer: I can't run in place either, I too think it feels wierd. But I can run up and down my hallway (I don't have a treadmill at home) and I can pick up some good speed that way. It still is able to track my movement down the hallway too.

doodoo: That's funny, I ordered a HRM last week and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I heard that the games calorie burn is not acurate too. I'm excited to try the HRM on EVERYTHING!! Though, I didn't get a polar, I got the MIO drive petite.

LOL...I run around my living room and down the hallway too.  The Wii remotes can go pretty far and still keep track!

You'll love your HRM...I was astonished at how much I burn when before I only estimated.  And it makes you want to push harder to see the numbers.

Also...sorry for making you call me doodoohead...LOL...my son calls our dog that for some reason and it's the first thing I thought of when picking my username.  (Because I had just heard him saying it right before)  But had to laugh when you addressed me that way.  Tongue out

I know, I typed doodoo and looked at it. Hmmm.....well, that is the name posted, I thought. Haha. I can't wait for the HRM I have a list of a ton of things I want to try it out on. First thing....my Monday kickboxing class. I can't wait to see how much that burns!!

Anyhow....I'm getting off topic now. This is for Wii Active Reviews, right? LOVE IT!
