wii fit anyone?
What do you think about it?
I quite like it, it keeps check of your BMI, weight etc. (even though your mii does blow up in size... or is that just me?)
Anyone else got any thoughts on it?
My housemate pre-ordered it. He's pretty excited about it. I'm hoping it revolutionizes home workouts and helps a lot of people lose weight.
However, I'm a little cynical, because it's still a workout. And, if someone can't find the time or drive to work out on a regular basis this certainly isn't going to cure that. Unfortunately for most it'll probably be a 'flash in the pan', but there will be that occasional "Jared" out there I hope.
hey yeah I got it too (ran into the shop like a total loser!)
I think it's pretty cool and definitely a great little motivation tool, and yes, my mii totally blew up in size and looked all surprised too! I'm also really impressed with nintendo's attention to detail with all the little facts on metabolism and posture etc. Of course, it's not going to be a great replacement for a real run or cardio but it'll definitely keep me focused on my goal.
How do you have it already? I was understanding it wasnt being released until the middle of May.
I plan on buying it for sure. If nothing else for my Kids. My kids are like all kids love video games, but we limit them to a very small time on it. But with the wii, its kinda throws a wrench into the whole ball game. My son will wear himself out with wii sports and doing the boxing, and I am sure with the wii fit, he will equally wear himself out, and hopefully keep us motivated to "play" with him.
I will say that with the world of Video Games I am loving the Wii. My son looks forward to his 30 min or so we let him play games a few times a week, and if we can keep him playing the active games like Wii sports, DDR, (and soon to come wii fit) over the tedious uneventful ones I will be happy.
As far as wii fit, I think anyone who does it alone to lose weight will be disappointed. I do not think we are going to see a new wave of skinny gamers appearing out of no where, but is it better then sitting on the couch punching buttons? For sure.
I went to pick up Mario Kart for Wii yesterday and they asked if I wanted to reserve Wii fit . I asked how much and they said $90!
I think it's great for people already in front of the tv but you could get a lot of workout dvds for that kind of money.
I'm from the UK - it was released last Friday! At the end of the day, it's essentially just a change for video gaming by introducing fitness and encouraging a healthy way of life - generally though I am totally against gaming and I get pretty bored sat hitting buttons, but the Wii's totally get me involved.
Also it is a million times better than any workout dvd I own as it is based on interaction and you have to focus on maintaining your balance correctly. You can compete with your family as it has a leaderboard as well. For the more secretive (me) you can password protect your stats. It is definitely worth the price though, as the board feels very well made and is pretty sensitive i think. I think I'm in love...
never even heard of it, but i CAN"T WAIT to get it...i already box with my daughter all the time as a workout :)!
I'll look into it, but if you havn't gotten your hands on Super Mario Cart
DO IT!!!!!!!! it's awesome...lol
Has anyone tried WiiFit on carpet? Is it weighing you correctly?
I have Wii Fit on pre-order. I am super excited about it. I have been doing well with my eating, but not so much the excercising. I think this will really help. I already love Wii Tennis and bowling, but they aren't so aerobic-y.

I have the exact same question. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks!
I'm getting mine after work today!!!!!!! sooo excited!
i just got a wii waiting for the wii fit- it is sold out everywhere!!!
Does it work well on carpet- i know it has a mat and all, but you know how a scale doesn't measure on a carpet- so I was wondering how the wii fit board works....?
Edit- sorry I got excited when I saw the thread and didn't bother to read that the carpet thing was answered![]()
My wii fit is sitting next to my desk as I type. I'm super excited. 5:00 can't come soon enough! Also, grocery shopping and dinner fixing...gah! i want to try it! I've already read the booklet cover to french part and I want to get up and be fit!
I ran in and got mine this morning!!! :) It works fine on my throw rug....It was a blast!!! Some of the exercises are harder then others but I deffinatly feel like I got a work out! I of course had to try all the exercises!!! :) FUN. My only advise/suggestion is make sure when you are doing your exercises to flex your muscles when appropriate...so when your doing the jacknife one flex abs etc.....and remember to breath through them.....But can deffinatly see myself useing it every day or atleast 5 days a week...... :)
sold out everywhere. :( should have pre-ordered.
I just finished my first workout with it. I had a blast! I am someone who is good at eating healthy foods, but not so motivated when it comes to fitness. I love the variety of exercises it gives you (strength, yoga, balance, aerobics) and the opportunities to unlock even more games and exercises. That part really kept me motivated to keep going because I couldn't wait to see what I would unlock next!
Wii Fit also suggested a great BMI for me to shoot for and will tell you, based on your goal date, how many pounds a week you will need to lose. I even enjoyed a lovely run through the park - with my "trainer" to encourage me to keep up with him! Of course it's no substitute for a REAL outdoor jog, it's great for someone like me who breaks out in itchy hives when I'm out in the sun for more than 15 minutes. :)
I am LOVING Wii Fit! I plan on using it daily to get into better shape. It was definitely well-worth the money I spent on it.
i got it today! its fun! and I super love how I am an expert at half the games I try!! I LOOOOVE the hula hoop!! the yoga leaves some to be desired, but I think it will get better after I spend more time on it. I don't like to do one pose six times, quit the breath, return to menu, pick a new pose, blah blah blah. it breaks my focus. then again, its a video game not a yoga class.
otherwise, its fun. I like the games. and I can tell if I can do it almost everyday I may grow strength in the large muscles!
I just got mine today and its a blast i did 30 min an let me tell you i really worked out i really broke a sweat i can say i cant hula hoop for crap lol i really tried like 5 time an nothing my husband did a 106 an i could only get 18 i suck all well i will get better by the way my wii age is 40 im pretty old lol so far i love it.
