Has anyone else got the wii fit?

What do you think about it?

I quite like it, it keeps check of your BMI, weight etc. (even though your mii does blow up in size... or is that just me?)

Anyone else got any thoughts on it?

I am hoping to get one soon.  Me and the kids went today and looked but they were sold out everywhere.  Quick question for those who have it...Does it tell you how many calories you burn doing different activities or do you have to figure that our yourself?  Thanks

I ended up going to the local Wal-Mart at midnight to grab my copy, and so far it's been a blast! My boyfriend seems to really enjoy it too, which is a plus.  So far I've really enjoyed doing some of the yoga stuff and the strength training. Though I did have to laugh at the wii virtual jog, haha. I kept wanting to outrun the trainer =) As others have said though, I wish it had a mode where you could choose a string of exercises and just go through them instead of having to go back to the menu. But, its a minor complaint. And for the record, my weight with the balance board on the carpet was pretty accurate as compared to my scale on hard flooring, so I was pretty impressed by that.

mcemom- Unfortunately, it doesn't give an estimate burned on calories.

Just curious if anyone is logging their exercise for the wii fit into their calorie count activities? If you are could you tell me what you are logging it as cause I wasn't sure what to count it as to be semi-accurate with how many calories burned.

That's the only thing the wii fit is missing, calories burned.

zomg. my friend and her mom just got TWO free ones when they went to the ellen degeneres show.  IT IS SO FUN!!!! it got me to jog for 15 minutes, that is nothing short of a miracle.  we "played" for like 3 hours straight today and i am going to house directly after school tomorrow to play again.  the hula hooping ftw!!!!!!!11 8DDDDDD

I picked one up yesterday at 6 am in the morning at Walmart near work. It was part 2 of my Wifes Mothers day present. Yes she asked for it! We tried it last night after dinner and it was pretty good. This morning I did a workout on it while wearing my F4 heart rate monitor. I used it for 45 minutes according to the F4 and burned 119 calories which isn't that bad for me (61 and on beta blockers) given that the Wii had me working out for 22 minutes (a lot of time lost in demo and changing exercises). I've been able to average about 4-5 calories/min at the gym doing elliptical, weights, and stretching (my trainer says that as a rule of thumb most gym exercises burn 4-10 cal/min). So for the 22 minutes of actual exercise the Wii is in line with what I do at the gym.

I did a number of the strength, yoga, aerobic, and balance "games". The strength push ups were harder than when I do normal push ups. Arms closer together and I don't normally do the side plank so I didn't do well at it. The lunges and leg extensions were awesome. Got my heart rate up and the sweat going. The aerobic step and jogging was really cool too.

We are going to love it. And it might get my wife working out more often since she stopped going to the gym. She tried push ups the other day, jumping in and doing 20 knee downs!) and wound up thinking she was having a heart attack in the afternoon because her left arm (the arm she doesn't use for vacuuming, which she is neurotic about) was hurting and numb with some pain in the upper shoulder! I think she'll do well on the Wii once she learns how to turn it on by herself. I'll write up instructions tonight.

My Wii mocked me for be so unbalanced last night.  My husband and I got a nice laugh out of that.  We played around with it for awhile last night and then I woke up early to play before work (I'm trying to establish a routine).

Man, I thought the aerobics portion wasn't going to do much but daaaannngg.  I unlocked super-hula hoop this morning and almost killed myself.  So much hooping!  You do it for three minutes instead of two and have to turn the direction they tell you.

My favorite part is all the Miis watching on.  My mother in law kept throwing shoes at my head in the soccer game.  Very suspicious!

Personally I am not as impressed with it.

If I had to sum up the Wii Fit, I would call it an Interactive Fitness DVD.

The exercises to me seem to be way to short, though it does seem like you can unlock longer sessions as you go.

The yoga and strength seem to be solid exercises for people who do not want to use weights, however the aerobics seemed to be lacking.

Let me preface by saying I have never taken an aerobics class so this is really my first taste of stepping and what not. I did the steps to unlock all three stages (Step, Advanced, and Free Step) and it seems way to easy. Maybe If I raise the wii board so its a bigger step it may prove more of a challenge, but I was able to do both stages, and then 20 min on the free step and barely broke a sweat (and I am not that in shape, I am just under 300).

The Advanced Hula Hoop seems to get your heart rate going, and is the only exercise that I really feel got me sweating, but I did it after doing all the steps, and the Hula Hoop enough to unlock Advanced.

The Fun Factor

I am really hoping games find a great way to use the wii board in their games, because wii fit, outside of being a "different workout" isnt fun. I mean as far as exercising and working out goes, its alot more fun then running on a treadmill for an hour, but if this was suppose to make working out so much fun you forget you are working out? It missed its mark.

As far as being a solid workout I think it can be, but Nintendo really screwed up by not allowing predefined workout reutines, I hate having to go reaching for the remote, or hold the remote the whole time I am on the board. Without being able to define reutines you spend a little time exercising and alot of time on the menues. The thing that confused me the most is when I did the lunges in strength, it told me to kill 2 birds in one stone and do the warrior yoga pose as well, so it seemed like I could set it up to do them both at the same time or back to back, but besides it giving me a check mark after i did both, that seemed to be it.

My kids were excited after seeing all the hype for the games, as was I, I mean alot of this looked like stuff I use to see at Epcot and things growing up, so I was excited to get an "at home version." But this is not kid friendly at all (mine are 5-7). I do not know if we just havent gotten the hang of shifting our weight the way it wants us to, but we tried the soccer ball blocking game for a good 30-45 min and the guy on screen was always delayed, could be a wireless delay or it wasnt reading our shifting weight right, or somehow we just dont know how to shift our weight, but we could never get anything over 1 star on that game. Even though we all did well on the balance tests.

Anyways do I regret buying it? No, not really. Did it live up to all the hype? No, not really.

Regarding the soccer game, my husband figured out the problem, to lean left, we tend to push down with our right foot which makes the little man lean right.  You have to lean left, not push to the left.  Does that make sense?

I like the game.  It's fun.  I agree about the stopping and starting, but I get the impression that the more you do it, the less down time you have.

I got mine yesterday. I got to target around 7:45 am and there were all sorts of people in there cars waiting so I got out and got first in line. I tried to get 2 of them one for me and one for my sister and they would not let me, so I ran to another target and got the last one. I set it up last night and what a blast. I played with it for 1 1/2 hours and tried all the games and worked up u sweat. I love the hula hoop. My 6 year old loves it and so does my husband. I wished it tracked calories burned.

For those who are looking for one here is a good web site to see if and when stores have them. http://wiitracker.com/

Does anyone know who to log it in to your activities?

I am suprised its sold out. I went to Walmart yesterday early, and I had thought about buying 2 incase some friends werent able to get, and Worst case scenario, resell it. But Walmart ahd like 7 in the case, and there was no line and noone seemed in a hurry to get it, I then went later to a Gamestop and another Walmart later that day and both had plenty in stock.

And curious was anyone excited to see the activity log on wii fit, only to be disappointed that the choices of stuff to log were "Light, Normal, and hard"

I went to game stop and they said they are sold out for the next 4 shipments due to pre-orders. Walmart sold out as well and they did pre-orders.

llogan10 I am happy you got yours. Where did you find the wii fit on the activity log? I can't seem to find it.

Wow, I may have to go back and check and see if they are sold out yet?

As far as the activity log, when you first choice your mii, and it is on the screen with the graph, there are 3-4 choices on the corners of the graph. One of them has a Activity Log. I only found it because it was one of the tips that the board gives you on loading.

I lost an inch and a half playing the Wii (specifically the boxing) so it definetely is a good exercise tool. I didn't really make many adjustments to my diet either.
I love it! I am soooo bad at not doing my lunges and squats so this is my way of getting me to do them. Not sure if I like the running in place. But it is awsome. I preordered mine so thats how I got it.

I had a little trouble with jogging - apparently I'm incapable of doing it "in place," but once I started doing laps across the living room it was great.  The whole thing was a lot of fun :)

I LOVE IT !!!

I unlocked 2 boxing levels today that is my new fav.

My kids are really using it too.

I walk between 4-11 miles a day almost every day at at least 3.5 -4 mph  on an incline thought i was in pretty good shape . I woke up very sore this morning. But I did it for an hour today again .I  have cut back a little on my walking since i  started using it.

How are you all logging it in?

I ended up not logging my exercise on the wii fit ...wasn't worth it to me....but if I notice I am needing a few more calories I wont feel guilty fitting them in....My 10 year old and 7 year old loved it!!! :)

I think if you are in a smaller town it was a  little easier to get ahold of it so if you didn't get it yesterday maybe call a nearby small town store to see if they have any left....

As for the time inbetween I just find myself moveing around walking in place what not to keep my heart rate up between while I am in the menu....if not then I use it to get a drink.....

im dying to pick it up!!

I went to the store yesterday b/c that was its release date in Canada (May 21st), but the guy was already sold out.

It is expensive to order, but I cant wait to pick it up...then my Wii collection will be complete :D

I just hope I dont have to buy anymore accessories.

Got mine at Best Buy at opening time.  They had 30 pre-orders and only about 10-12 on top of that.

The aerobic activities were fun, the games as well, the yoga OK, but the strength activities need alot of room.

Spent half of my time doing the bubble float, just clenching my toes makes me move the bubble.

I personally just think the Wii is so awesome in so many ways. We're all so worried about the fact that (well, the US, but also other parts of the world) are becoming SO obese, but we don't stop to think about the fact that, hey, more and more kids are spending time sitting in front of the TV and computer and not moving!!! Man, when I was a kid, I rode my bike all day...Anyway, I tried the Wii for the first time at my friend's house, and it was so neat. We played the Wii Sports game and did the boxing thing, and MAN was I sore the next day! It was really fun, I'm seriously considering saving up and getting one as well. But anyway, my real point is that I think it's great that a company finally came up with a solution to the problem of kids not being active these days...
