I am new to this site but have had a life time of dieting!!
Anyhow i have the wii fit which i was very excitied about but am now finding it really frustrating, as within the bodytest I am constantly up & down, from yesterday i put on 5lbs, which I can't see as possible, as I ran, had done the morning routine and had no clothes on, it also doesn't recognise morning to eve, this is so discouraging.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
M
Hi
Have you got it set up right as mine always tells me if a fluctuation could be due to me weighing in at a different time to previously, (e.g. in the evening instead of my usual morning routine). I would say it is impossible to put on 5lbs of fat in one day so it is probably fluid and/or food still in your system.
To give you an example on my DHs birthday I ate and drank a huge amount (I gave up trying to count) and the next day my Wii fit said I had gained 6lbs!!! I was bad but no way did I eat 21000 extra calories. I got straight back to healthy eating and the next day the Wii said 3lbs had gone and by my regular weekly weigh in I had managed to maintain for the week.

Hello there. I have noticed this same thing when doing my body test and basically I don't pay much attention to it. Like the other response said you have to weigh in at the same time everyday like the little board says to
I'm not sure I like that feature because it can get discouraging. I'd recommend using another scale just to see if the Wii Fit is correct.
^ agreed. Also double check the time on your wii. Like make sure its 5:00 Am not 5:00 PM. My wii fit always asked me why Im up so late or say good morning when it was completely the opposite time of day. Also make sure the wii is on a hard surface or if its on a rug make sure you have the little leg extensions on for the board. That will mess up your weight.
I have the same problem, but you do need to weigh in at the same time, also do not weigh yourself after you have eaten or worked out. I dont know if its true with everyone but when i work out i weight more (weird). I got very discouraged from the wii fit also and i just go by how my clothes fit.. not my scale.
I never had issues w. the scale being off except if I just worked out or if I weighed myself in the afternoon. The scale is usually right on the money w. my reg. scale or even the scale at the gym.

Do you drink water while at the gym?
If you've checked all the tips everyone else here has given you, and your board was accurate with that 5lbs, that obviously doesn't mean that you gained 5lbs of fat in one day. It is normal to have fluctuations of anywhere to 1-5lbs or sometimes more in a day, depending on a lot of variables. Working out can cause you to retain water the next day to help repair muscles, for example. Or, maybe it's getting close to that TTOM (not sure if you're a guy or girl) and you're retaining water due to that.
Don't forget to keep an eye on your TREND, not just the difference between today's weight and yesterdays, or last weeks, or whenever your last weigh-in was.
Bottom line, keep doing what you're doing. If you're eating healthy, getting the right number of calories, and working out, you're going to see a difference in the scale and your clothes, and not necessarily in that order. :)
agreed try measuring yourself once a week. I've upped my workouts to 4 days a week and my scale has bearly budged in the 2 weeks but my clothes feel great and I just bought new pants a size smaller than what I already wear.
I usually just use body test to see what my fit age is. I think my mii is funny when its just standing there when nothing happens.
always weigh in at the exact same time everyday (if possible in the morning)
and always do wii fit in the nude. (haha, yeah you read that right)
And most of all be sure to calibrate your board every two weeks in the options section.
If you have a fuzzy carpet be sure to add the extra legs that comes with the board.
1. try to wear the lightest clothes possible when you are doing your test. when choosing clothing weigh, pick 0.
2. try to to the body test around the same time every day.
your weight fluctuates 2lbs. daily because of going to the bathroom and food intake.
hope this helps and good luck ! :)
