That's a bit expensive for a scale.  First you need a Wii with the Wii Fit "Game" - http://www.apparelandtech.com/nintendo-bundle -with-dreamgear-7in1-players-p-118.html

That will only set you back $499.  Or you can get a pretty much top of the line scale at Target for $80 or less.

My boyfriend's roomates had a Wii. I loved that thing. The tennis was my favorite. I really like what they are doing trying to make video games less of a sedentary activity.

I havent yet tried the Fit but I believe it is awesome. Anyone out there tried it yet?

Yeah, but seriously, a $500 scale is a bit excessive.  For that kind of money, it had better come with one HAWT cabana boy and an endless supply of umbrella drinks.

LOL if all it did was weight you it would be an expensive scale....but if you already have a wii you might as well get it...it is a scale plus a game plus a bmi calculator plus an exercise tool....hmm sounds like alot more then a scale to me....but maybe I am just biased because I am a gamer and have a wii already and Love wii fit......non the less the fact that my husband and both of my kids love working out on it.....As for weight it get's my weight spot on everytime...if you have kids that want to use it to I can say it barely picks up the weight of my 7 year old (44lbs) even though it say's that it's for 6 and up ....and the weight limit on it is like 350lbs....

I'm pretty sure all of you are looking at some real expensive Wii Fit bundles.

If you already own a Wii, the game + balance board is roughly $90. Now, I'm not certain if the balance board. That bundle that was linked? Includes the Nitendo Wii, along with controllers, a batter charger, etc, etc.

Wii Fit by itself? $90. But it's not just a scale; it's a game that includes balancing games, you can use the balance board (the scale) to do workouts on, etc, etc.

It's far more engaging than just a scale. I want one so badly. =(

sorry I wasnt very clear, I already have a wii :D

Morrighu, you were definitely looking at a bundle that included the Wii console itself, which alone goes for 250 dollars or more. If super_penguin already owns a Nitendo Wii, the game Wii Fit + balance board only costs $90. Not only do you get a scale that is apparently very good, but you get a  very interesting interactive video game to go along with it, that you can use the balance board with in order to play the game. That game can help you develop a work out plan, play games involving balance (or virtually snowboard down a mountain), even do some yoga!

Certainly sounds worth it when you figure in that most game disks these days cost about 40-50 bucks. Only 30-40 dollars more for the balance board? You can count me in.

If you already have a Wii then it's probably worth it.  I think I could *ahem* burn more calories with the cabana boy, tho.  Cool

I just got a wii fit yesterday.  I called every store in town and Best Buy had gotten a shipment in yesterday morning.  I live like 2 minutes from there so I quick ran over there and grabbed one.  They had 6 left.  (I thought about buying a couple and selling them on e-bay, since they are going for about $150 on there)  The guy at the counter said I can't believe these are still here, they usually sell out in 15 minutes!

Anyway, I love it!  In addition to my hour walk outside, I did 20 minutes of work-out on the wii.  That's 20 minutes in my time bank, not the actual time it took to set up all the stuff for my mii and everything.  Let me let you I was sweating my butt off doing it too!  I love the hula-hoop games.  I am pretty good at em too.  But my upper legs were KILLING me when I was done!

And my kids played it for hours.  I would much rather them do that then sit and play regular video games or just watch tv!

My opinion is the Wii is well worth it! but that is just my happy opinion :)

If you already have a Wii then it is definetly worth it. The yoga alone is worth it and then they have all the fun games. My wife and I are really enjoying it.

Call every gamestop/eb in town and ask if they ahve it, or when they'll have more in stock. Big box stores (like wal mart, target, best buy, circuit city) get new stock every week, you just have to do your best to find out what day they get the next shipments. I think, and I may be wrong, but some stores sell their new stock on Sundays, so try best buy early Sunday morning.

I like the step aerobics, however I don't really think that the actual balance board is really high enough of the ground to get much benefit, it should have some booster feet or something. With a Reebok step you get to adjust the height of the step so its better. Maybe they will develop some add-ons.

I like the hoola hooping, but I must be really thivk as it says to lean to the side to catch the hoops but no matter how hard a try I cant catch them!

I agree on the step thing...I added the feet for thick carpet for a little bit higher and am thinking of makeing a board thing to put it on to make it higher Because I think it's a great work out especially if you dance around while doing it.....

yeah, I have the thick crapet feet on mine to make it a little higher.  For now it is still a decent workout if you aren't used to it (for me anyway)  I am sure when I get to that point I can get hubby to build me something to set it on.

When I was at walmart here yesterday, they said that they got their initial order of the wii fit when they first came out, but they haven't gotten any more shippments of them since.  I know toysrus here puts all their new out on Sunday mornings.  That is where we got our wii system.  So check with them.

sophiesworld2, getting those extra hula hoops on is very challanging.  especially when you have to lean and still keep circling your hips!

My BF and I ended up getting a Wii Fit at midnight the night it came out. It's a lot of fun! If you don't have a scale right now, I would actually recommend the Wii Fit over a stand alone scale. I like being able to see the subtle changes in not only my weight (which, unlike most scales, is accurate to a .1 rather than a .2), but my BMI as well. So instead of just giving you a BMI of, say, 29 or something, it will give you something like 29.40, which I think is really motivating because it makes me feel like I'm that much closer to getting to a healthy weight. Plus the game will prod you if you haven't been on in a day or two, which is really funny to see and may even keep you on track.

Like others have said, try calling the mass market stores to see if they have any. Also, if you have any gaming stores by you (EB, gamestop, or even some used video game places), I would try them too. Good luck in the hunt!

I got a Wii fit and they are fab!!  I would highly recommend buying one, the games on there are easy but provide you with a good work out, the hula hoop is the best, it really gets your heart rate going, my best is 310 hula's in 70 seconds, i would like to see what the higest score in the hula is.

I got mine after a few days of searching but I live in Wales so it may be more difficult for you to get one in the states, I paid £69.99.  Hope you manage to get one, once you do prepare yourself for a good laugh!! Laughing

my step mother bought the Wii specifically for the wii fit and she has lost 9lbs in the past 3 weeks, i wish i had the money to give it a try!

Hmmm - maybe I should have invested in a WII and WII Fit board. I want one now!

Sophie and Marla,

You don't have to keep circling your hips when you lean to catch a new hula hoop. Your hoops barely slow down as you lean to catch one. The trick to the balance board is not to focus your leaning using your upper body. The board has to feel your body weight shift. Lean with your hips and place all the weight on the one leg you are leaning toward. You'll never miss. Balance is mainly based on how well you can shift your core around.

I love my Wii Fit!
It's the whole reason I'm here to begin with really.

I paid $80 for mine.

I use it to track my body changes, such as weight, BMI and other tests to determine my Center of Balance, Flexibility and Core Muscle Strength.

It was well worth the $80 investment.

You get helpul tips on how to lose weight and exercise properly, it teaches you have to control your body and how to be mindful of your posture.

It also "yells" at you if you don't check in frequently. Which makes me more aware of what I am doing, and makes me check on my body more often than I would without it.

Plus, I love the games. I have a blast getting out that competive nature with my husband. I want a better BMI, I want to unlock games before he does, I want the best scores! Makes me work harder.

I go to the gym M-W-F and do my body test on the Wii Fit when I get home. And on Tues and Thurs and Sunday, (if not more often) I do the training on the Wii Fit, with at least 30 minutes of yoga. (Which is my favorite)

I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to become more aware of their body.
