Has anyone had any experience with Wii? I got one for Christmas and I think it's going to be a real help. I'd like to know if anyone else has used it.

I got one for X-mas and It helps alot  also it is very fun

I also got one for xmas.  Just finished using it for the 1st time.  Do you guys know if it counts the calories that you burn?

i have the outdoor challenge game and it is awesoem for gettng a good workout. You can actually run and jump on the mat instead of just shifting your weight like on the wii fit. I don't even knowif I will bother trying to find the wii fit now. This game is awesome!

I love the wii fit, me and the OH had one for xmas and it's been a non stop competition on all games from the ski jump to the warrior pose to the stand still and breathe.

Personal opinion - if it's the wii fit or no excercise then wii fit it all the way, but don't give up your gym time for this game.

edited to add: no, it does not track your calories.

i've been using the wii fit a lot. the trick with it is that you can fool yourself that you're getting a good workout when you're not. if a person was to just stick to the balance games and the easier yoga poses then it isn't much more of a workout than standing still for that whole time.

the aerobics are the best workout - the advanced boxing, advanced step aerobics, super hula hoop, running on the spot - they are all AMAZING calorie burners - as good as doing the real thing according to my heart rate monitor.

the strength training is also good for burning calories and tightening and toning your muscles. just don't stick to the easy ones!

the yoga is great if you do the more advanced poses and stretches. this helps with your centre of balance and posture. having good strong muscles and posture increases your metabolism overall and having good posture can make our appearance slimmer.

i try to do at least 30 minutes (in the credit counter) of aerobics a day - sometimes an hour if i'm full of energy. then 30 minutes of the strength training and 30 minutes aerobics. the balance games are really just that - games. so i do those for fun at the end of the day and to clear my mind.

the thing with wii fit is if people stick to just the "fun" games in the balance section then it's not going to be a good workout, but if you push yourself and do the difficult aerobics and strenght training then i believe it's as good a workout as you can get at a gym. i think the adverts on TV for the wii fit can be misleading because it's certainly not just wiggling around on a board if you do the right exercises :)

i am loosing twice as much weight with 1/2 hours of wii fit per day (weekdays only) than i was with my normal routine and workouts.

this was an article and quick "unofficial" study done by a British athlete:

http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/newsfeed/200 8/04/13/does-wii-fit-the-bill-78057-20381073/

I bought a wii and wii fit yesterday (it was supposed to be my 10lb present to myself but i'm spoilt and couldn't wait!)

I love it. What i found out today was that if go on the running game, but put the controller in my pocket and go on my cross trainer instead of running on the spot i get a waaay better work out but i can still log my time in my little piggy bank thing.

I've had my cross trainer for a few weeks and although i've used it every day i don't always push myself as hard as i can, but with the wii i get competitive and want to be really good, so i've been pushing myself waaay more.

I think it's going to be a pretty good investment.
