Hello! Has anyone used the Wii Fit? How do you like it? Will the board work on living room carpeting? How many pounds does it hold? It it worth the money?

Let me know your opinion! Thanks! Cool

It's great. The board comes with little feet to adjust for carpet. Max 300 lbs. If you already have a Wii, I think it's worth it.

Sweet! I have been thinking about this because I think it will be something I can do. I have Fibromyalgia and I need to stretch. I think the Yoga stuff will be nice. Thanks for your fast reply!  Wink

Im also wondering about Wii fit..been contemplating it since it came out...but dont want to waste money..what kind of exercise can you get on it? is it just yoga?

nooo, there's different yoga ones to do, balance games, muscle workouts and fat burning games :) i love it.

I don't really dig mine too much, i still use it but I don't think its as awesome as everyone made it out to be. The other day i got on mine and it said i magically lost 10 pounds, which i didn't and it threw everything off track..its okay, but i don't know if its worth the money.

A lot of people have mentioned theres going all funny like that, but mine's always been fine xx

Buy one immediately!!  :) It is SOOOO worth the money.  I got mine about 2 weeks ago and I've only skipped out on using it for 2 out of 12 days.  It is very addictive.  Outside of Wii world, I do walk a lot and go bike riding and lift weights.  Wii Fit rounds it all out for me.  There is yoga, strength exercies, aerobics and balance games.  You even get to choose which trainer you want to work out with (male or female).  The board actually can tell whether or not you are doing an exercise in correct form and will score you at the end.  It challenges me b/c I always want to get better, beat my last "score", etc.  You also unlock more exercises as you go along.Smile

I don't do gyms.  For my budget, they are a collosal waste of money.  I thought the Wii Fit would be a great investment for me and I wasn't wrong.  I've already lost 2 pounds the first week.  I haven't done a body test for this week yet :).  I've decided to do them either every Saturday or Sunday morning.

I have one and they are great definatly worth the money and they are loads of fun too, especially the hula hop games.

It keeps you motivated as well by keeping track of times that you have been activities and your weight and how how are doing with goals that you have set yourself.

Its not only good for fat burning exercise too, you can tone and work on your balance. I use mine most days and if you dont use it for a feew days it will question you why you havent been exercising!

soooo much fun and it works! GET ONE NOW!

If you already have a Wii, I also HIGHLY recommend the My Fitness Trainer game.  It doesn't use the balance board but "Maya" will have you input height, weight, and give you a fitness test to gauge your fitness level, and design a workout for you.  She will also incorporate balance balls, weights, heart monitors, etc that you have around.  I find her workouts to be challenging...along the lines of workouts I got in the gym.  You set your time for each workout and it's a lot more of a continuous workout than on the Fit.  I am losing weight with her and calorie counting, so for the $29.99 for the game, it's a great deal!

Cool and thanks for the rec.  I might check that out.  :)

I love it.  I use it at least every other day, but sometimes I get slacky.  The exercises work all parts of your body and it helps with posture too.  Not only that, but it's a little bit more motivational because of Daily Body Tests.  It tells you if you gain or lose to the .0 of a pound.  So if you lose one pound, it will tell you , while if you get on a regular scale, it may not.  After a while though, it becomes routine and the weight loss starts to plateau.  I'm thinking of upgrading to Gillian Michael's workout game

My parents were asking me about a Wii Fit. My mom (54) is willing to buy a Wii just to get the Wii Fit. I don't have it so I thought I would ask here.

My concerns are the following:

1. Can you actually get a real work out from this, or is it more of a tool to motivate people to get/stay fit?

2. Is there enough to do that my parents can vary or change their workout after some time so they don't plateau? Someone mentioned moving on to the Gillian Michaels game....anyone have experience with that?

3. My mom said she always wanted to do Yoga....is the Yoga reasonable compared to a real Yoga class? I've read that all Wii Fit workouts were designed by professional trainers and doctors. Is there enough on here that it won't feel repetitive?

Thanks

I workout on a regular basis, so there is no way i would rely on my wii fit for a"real" workout, its a nice addition to my daily exercise routine. Its not difficult enough for me to actually feel like i am getting a true workout. Don't get me wrong, of course its burning calories and such but the cardio part is always severely lacking. I think Wii sports its honestly more of a workout then wii fit.

I have a wii-fit that I got about 2 weeks ago.  It's a very fun and motivating way to keep fit I think.  It gets you up and moving, it definitely works your balance which will improve posture and I'm certain it's helping me there.  It has some aerobic workouts that will get your heart rate up a bit and the games are a blast.  My husband, my son and I are having a ball on it almost every evening trying to out-do each other on some of the games.

Now, I've said enough good stuff....  I don't think it's the be-all, end-all to fitness.  I will continue my regular exercise of treadmill (including HIIT) and weight-lifting (NROL4W).  It's a great addition and a way to get moving on my non-workout days.

If someone is very unfit I think it would be a great way for them to start out exercising.  It's always good to be doing something active that you enjoy.

I've never taken a yoga class, so I don't know how it compares, and while there are quite a variety of things, I'm sure it could get boring after awhile, but I do think it's worth it.

Yes, I think this will be great for your parents.  I do other things as well in addition to Wii fit because a) I like being outside to walk and cycle and b) I enjoy lifting free weights and really need to in order to gain strength in my upper body.  I think that anyone who says you CAN'T get a "real" workout on Wii Fit is missing the big picture.

There are alot of strengh exercises to do on the Fit.  Of course different ones work different muscle groups.  Just to give a couple of examples- there is a pushup/side plank combo move and there are rowing squats.  I believe both of those default to 10 reps, but you can gain more reps by doing the exercises regularly.  Even if you only have 10 reps, whose to say you can't do 3-5 sets of these instead of just one??  Kudos to anyone out there that can do 3-5 sets back to back of these exercises correctly (Fit gauges if you are doing the exercise in correct form).  I'm sure that the Fit could wear out anyone frankly.

Also IMO- the most intense cardio on Fit is the Advanced Hula Hoop.  Uh, if you don't feel like you've worked after one session, go for it a second time.

It's fun and yes, there is variety and yes, it is a "true" workout if you make it one.  Isn't that the truth with any workout though?

Thanks for the response. I'll fill her in on what everyone has said.

We love our Wii Fit! We use it almost everyday now for the last 5 weeks. We also have the Jillian Michaels game as well as the Dance Dance Revolution game. We switch off every few days from one to another. All 3 give us a good workout.

We try to switch it up so our bodies don't get used to the same exercises everyday and to keep it interesting. I've lost 16 lbs. since Christmas. I contribute alot of that to the Wii Fit for getting my butt off the couch.
