If anyone uses the Wii Fit scale to weigh, I have a question.

Let's say it tells you that you weigh 260.5. Now, do you weigh 260 pounds and a half or 260 point 5 pounds? 16 ounces equals a pound. So would it be correct to say that you actually weigh 260.8 (8 being half of 16)?

The scale has never given me a weight that's above .9 - My husband thinks that once your "ounces" reaches 10 that the scale rolls it over to a pound.

I hoping someone can make sense of my question because after reading it, my head hurts! Thanks in advance!

The decimal does not indicate ounces - it's 0.5 (one half) pound.

It isn't like height, where we say 5 foot 6 inches.

You don't assign seperate units to each side of the decimal place.

I think your question just made MY head hurt. Lol

If 8 ounces equals half a pound then wouldn't "260 lbs 8 ozs" = "260.5 lbs"?

Anyways, its just 260.5 POUNDS. They would not use different units in the same number. Makes no sense.

Of course your scale never gives over .9!

D'oh!

Same unit of measurment on each side of the decimal point. Unless otherwise indicated (such as the ' and the " in the phrase 5'3"), always assume it's the same unit of measurement.

Haha, sorry but this was too funny. How would you numerically represent a number higher than .9 without rolling over to 1?  :P  EDIT: (While rounding to the nearest tenth on a scale)

.91?

Touche.

I clearly meant how can you represent a number higher than .9 when you are rounding to the nearest tenth (like the scale mentioned in the OP's post). But I'm pretty sure you knew what I meant and were just playing semantics.  ;P

Hehe. I deserve it, eh?

I don't know anyone who got an accurate weight on the wii.  Take into account it's not an actual weight scale.  Also remember it's subject to too many variables because it's pressure and balance that calibrates.  Bare floor and rugs make a big difference. Lean to one side or take weight off one foot and it will shift.  Just use it to have fun and exercise !! Have fun.

Though I do like seeing the line go down on the weight chart, I stopped using it to weigh myself because of what others said above- rug/barefloor, calibration and plus it always asks how heavy my clothes are. I can't always wear the same outfit to exercise on the wii fit, ya know? I'd stick to the ol' scale in the bathroom. Smile
