Not sure where to post this!
Does anyone know how accurate/reliable the Wii Fit is for weighing oneself?
Does anyone regularly use it?
Thanks

I have been using the Wii Fit daily since November 1st, 2008 (11 months). I find it incredibly encouraging and a great way to start my day in the morning. I started at 120lbs, 5'2. I currently weigh 100lbs (14 years old). I'm eat 1800-2100 calories a day.
The only thing I recommend is weighing without any clothes on. It gives you the option to take 2 or 4lbs off for the clothes you are wearing, which isn't accurate at all. Just do it naked and click "Other - 0lbs". Then it will give you an accurate weight and bmi.
Great way to lose weight!
Yeah ok, just was wondering because i seem to get various different readings,
I was doing it like once a week and it seemed to look like one week i was gaining 5lbs, then losing 3lbs then gaining 4lbs, going back to before the 5lbs etc. I thought maybe it was water weight or something, because surely I wasn't gaining and losing that much all the time...
so I decided to weigh every day this last week and a half... but it still jumps up and down the same, the readings differ always between the same 6lbs range and come at either end or inbetween. so some days I may jump up 6lbs, or jump up 2, then next day come down 2lbs etc.
So i was wondering if it was the Wii Fit, or whether my body is really fluctuating that much with water?? I really don't know which it is I actually weigh. 6lbs seems a major difference!
(Btw, have been doing it naked and at the same time every morning)
It does fluctuate more than I'd think... I've used mine since March 2009 to keep track of my weight loss, and I've had changes of 5 pounds in a day (I weigh myself daily, and currently weigh 165 or so). That's usually due either to a really hard/new workout, or a high sodium day, so it's water weight and I just don't worry about it. But on the few times I've weighed myself twice in a short period of time, it's shown a larger discrepancy than I'd expect, since I hadn't eaten or drank anything, or eliminated anything from my body. However, I don't think that's much different than any other scale, either.
Not sure if that helps... Overall, I'm fully satisfied with the Wii Fit as my measuring tool. You might try replacing the batteries. Also, make sure you use it in the same spot every time, and on a consistent floor (i.e. hardwood). I use mine on a piece of plywood on a carpeted floor, and that may be where some of the inconsistencies come from, but the plywood does help, I think. And as an FYI, I don't weigh myself naked (not sure the neighbors need to see that!), but I do weigh myself in my underwear and use the 0 pound clothing option. Again, consistency is more important than absolute accuracy (to me).

Give EA Sports Active a try. It's a much better workout than WiiFit.
Aside from using it as a scale, how do you all like the Wii Fit? I've been considering getting one, but not sure that I want to make the investment. Are there particular programs (games?) that you like more than others? Thanks!
