If you have a nintedo wii you will most likely know what I'm talking about. Before you start playing a game a warning will come up and say don't play unless your fit enough to do so. I laughed at the message-

Well. I was suprised by the work out I got from my wii.  Granted not all games are equal- The wii bowling isn't going to  get you in to shape but, I really got to into boxing on the wii. I had to turn a fan and before I knew it I was working up a swet~!

It makes me excited to try the wii Dance Dance revolution. And sometime back I found out the wii is making a low impact platform due out in Jan. of 08. I think it's called the wii Fit maybe. It's like a stair step that's wired to wii. The promo I watched for it talked about the the weight loss chart and some other cool features.

Case in point-I think the wii is kind of neat way to burn a few calories and I'm looking forward to see if they can really make it into a good full body workout game. What's your thought? any good workouts on a wii game?

I have never played it, but my daughter has it.
It is fun to watch my grandson play it.
I agree, I played the boxing game earlier in the year and in desperation to beat the lads that had got to round 3, i put in full effort and knocked out in the first round...it really is a good work out, specially if you like games anyway

I'll tell you what, boxing on the Wii will definitely get your heart rate going. I get really into games like that and when I am boxing someone on the Wii, I move my entire body. I seriously worked up a sweat the last time I played.

Another game that can make for a good workout is Raving Rabbids. On this game there are a lot of mini games that you can play where you really got to move your arms fast. It will make your heart rate rise, and it is fun too!

It would be so much better if they would make it more like a wireless glove for boxing. Lol I really get into it and I end up slapping myself in the face with the cord to nunchuck! Tongue out Too many upper cuts! LOL
mesmilin4u - I love Rayman Raving Rabbids!!!  The memory game where you bonk the rabbids makes me laugh so hard I can't even breath....which must be good for my abs ;)  I also like the boxing.  I think these type of  games are an improvement over sitting on the couch on your butt!!

I got the Wii Fit recently, but I had no idea there was DDR for the Wii, I love DDR but the dance pad I have doesn't work very well. Delayed reaction time. Most of the Wii games I have don't work up a sweat for me. But the only one I've played that I liked was Mario Party. Wii Fit is definitely my workout game. =)

I agree that Wii Fit is a good workout game.  The game provides a good balance of activities that at the very least motivate people who dont normally think about eating healthy and working out to start doing something.  I noticed I had gained weight in the past year, but the game was a wake up call that got me not only working out more (with and without the wii fit game) but it also got me thinking about my diet.  My only complaint is that it should link up to a site like this that allows you to keep track of your daily calorie intake as well.  Maybe for wii fit 2???

I'm getting mine this weekend. I'm so excited.

I saw some video posted on youtube of a fitness trainer testing out the platform. She said it's not a huge impact but it somewhat fun.

As for the Boxing game. i absolutely love it. I must say when you put in a LOT of effort trying to beat it. You can get a decent workout. I got my heart rate up with in the first 10 mins of playing.

Personally I dont like the gym or threadmills, so being able to do some alternatives exercise is great for me.

Goodluck everyone ! *cheers for good fitness and healthy lifestyle!

We've had the Wii Fit for about 2 weeks now.  We both play it for about half an hour a day.  We play the balance games for fun, but actually strive to get the best record in all of the yoga, strength, and aerobic activities.  When I'm done with my workout, I'm normally a sweaty mess.  I would like to think I'm in good shape (29, 5'10, 138 lbs, healthy) and I have felt the incredible impact this game has had in just the 14 days.  Impossible to believe I'd be able to see my stomach flattening from it, but it sure is.  My pants fit so much better.  My weight isn't changing, but it's shifting, and I'm pretty happy with where it's shifting to.  Plus, I can do this in my own home, in my pj's or whatever... no one sees me grunting and groaning being uncoordinated.  It's fantastic.

I love my wii fit. I got it when if first came out. I have been bad and havnt been playing it lately but I swear I will get back to it. I love the jackknife crunches, lunges and the pushups. I find those are the most effective workouts on those. Oh and the ski jump is sooo fun I probably play that for about 10 minutes trying to beat my old score everytime.

I have a wii fit

love it

can anyone tell me how many calories you burn on the step

at the bottom of the screen when done is has 2 stars and under that it says calories

so?

good luck all and have fun

I have a wii but not a wii fit, But i do have My fitness coach, it doesn't use the balence board but it certanally gets your heart rate up.

Its like a exercise Dvd but tailored to you, It tells you how many calories you have burned and is broken up into sections of selected fitness regimes, upper body, lower body, core, flexibilty yoga and strength training.

It evaluates how fit you are and helps you improve it.

Okay i should stop but i really do love my fitness coach, so much cheaper than going to the gym  :)
