Just read this article from Yahoo news...http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in /ea-sports-active-vs-wii-fit-which-is-the-big gest-loser-/1315542

I have a Wii Fit and love it, but this looks promising too.  Has anyone tried it?  Pros/cons?

I have had the wii fit since febuary and while I love it, the fact that you have to slow down any effectiveness of the work out by switching between exercises was a pain in the butt. I like the individual challenges like the plank challenge, push ups and the jackknife challenge.

I recieved the EA sports game yesterday and did it for the first time today. I actually broke into a sweat so I think it will be much more effective. I started the 30 day challenge today.

i like ea sports

I have a wii fit too and I cannot wait to get the EA sports for a change of pace!

Dtidey74- The EA game has a 30 day challenge? Or were you speaking of a thread group on CC?

The EA game has a 30 day challenge that you can set the intensity level for. I picked medium thank goodness. You don't have to do the challenge, there is a lot of options for workouts on there. You can choose how long the workout is, what body parts to concentrate on. Also you can choose to do cardio or strength training, it's pretty cool actually.

Cool! I like that you can adjust the intensity level. Thanks for the additional info, dtidey74!

i have the wii fit since it came out though it is fun and i do 30 mins a day on it ,it is a pain when you have to keep stopping and starting you dont really break into a sweat, getting my ea active on tuesday and cant wait heard good things about this... also have family trainer but must say couldn get the hang of any of it too much jumping lol

Thanks for your replies everyone!  I think I'll head out to Target tomorrow and pick it up.  I do love my Wii Fit but you're right the stop/start does get annoying after a while.  Hopefully I can figure out a routine that can include both! :)

I have both. I love them both too. lol I like the EA active though it really does give a great work out. You deff burn about double what the calorie calculator says.

I'd totally recommend EA Active. You actually sweat, your HR goes way up, and it's still fun.

Got my ea active and its probably only time i have enjoyed exercising,it does make you sweat but it is fun with it Laughing

I got my EA Active yesterday, I've had Wii Fit for about a month and a half...I love them both!  EA kicks my butt and I really work hard.  I like the Yoga on the Wii Fit for my morning workout (about 20 minutes) and then I'm going to be using EA in the evenings for a more intense workout.  We got the extra leg strap with EA too so that we can play together too!

have suddenly realised ea active is great but it def needs a wireless nunchuck, before i strangle myself to some of the exercises lolLaughing

HA! I almost killed my self tonight doing the high knee crunches!!! I had to wrap the cord between Wimote and nunchuck between my hands so I didn't.  I hope my legs don't hurt tomorrow!!!Laughing

well if the cord dont kill me the running will lol never realised how unfit i am.. Wink

I love EA Active....it is a great workout.  I also bought Gold's Cardio Gym, but it is mostly boxing...it was a good workout, but EA active has such a variety of workouts that I think it would take a long time to get tired of them.  I like making up custom workouts as well.  I am doing the thirty day challenge and then after that I will get more into the custom workouts.

I have the Wii and was looking into buying the fit for it I see it's well over $100.00 but if you all enjoy the EA Active more do you need the fit to use the Active if not I might just buy that instead.  I enjoy the boxing on my Wii I've also gotten pretty good at hitting a baseball which I've NEVER been able to do.  Once I get fit enough I'd like to join an outdoor sports like softball.

Metabea...You don't need the balance board to use the Wii Active.  You have the option of using it or not.  You can still do all of the exercises but the moves are adjusted according to if you are using the board or not.  I have actually noticed that most of the routines that it picks for me on the 30 day challenge don't use the board...it uses the resistance band more.

I have both of them but I can't believe how much of a better workout that EA Sports Active gives you as compared to Wii Fit. I think Wii Fit's exercises are to easy on the body but EA's makes you work out and has you feeling it. I don't even use Wii Fit anybody except to log my weight on the calender and track my weight lost goals.

Epiphany, I was thinking the same thing. Only using Fit to track my weight. This is my 4th day on the 30 day challenge and half way through each session, I'm dripping with sweat. Using Wii Fit, I don't think I ever broke a sweat! However, I have been doing the Fit as a warm up before doing Active. But this morning, I skipped right through a couple of the strength training exercises because I knew I would be doing a more intense version on the Active!

The only complaint I have so far with Active is the resistance band. It's pretty flimsy and a pain in the butt!

I have Wii Fit and Active.  I looove the Active so much better.  You can really get a great, sweaty workout from Active. Good luck!
