i love mine!! of course, its not the only exercise i do but im losing inches and weight so im happy! once you've unlocked the more substatial length cardio and the higher reps for the strength training, the workouts become more strenuous.

just remember when your using it, to put 100%into the exercies and you'll get a lot more out of it.

To me, the big thing is that I'm doing more exercise with the Wii-Fit than I would probably have the discipline to do otherwise.  It's fun - a heckuva lot more fun than a stationary bike or treadmill.  I didn't excercise because I became bored easily.

Discounting out of town trips, I think I've missed three or four days of Wii-Fit in the 40-odd I've owned it.

Thank you for the replies. I cant wait to go home and set it up :)

I think i wil use it along side my normal routines - swap around the days etc just to get a bit of diffrence in my excercise.

Fingers crossed it works. :)

same here actually, its not a workout substitute its more of an added bonus, for example those days you just cant get to the gym or just dont feel like going out at all. i get in a good hour on nights im not swimming

I heard that to really enjoy the Wii fit you need to buy a lot of add on accessories ... is this true??

Not only do you not need any add-ons for Wii Fit... I don't even know what accessories you would buy.

I guess there are some accessories out there, but you don't need any of them.  There is a mat to use with it and a silicone cover for the board.  Certainly neither of these is a necessity; and I haven't even seen them as particularly desireable.

I am a new WII convert, and I love the WII Fit but how do you log your activity - or do you?

I was really surpised how bad my balance was accoridng to the Wii. When my trainer consistently tells me what great balance I have and we can do more stuff on the wobble board or ball becuase my balance is so good - then i get on the WII and I'm below the lowest rating. Then the darn thing gives me little pointers - "don't be afraid to hold on to something or put your foot down if you need to" etc.. I want to smash it sometimes!

I've been doing Wii Fit since it first came out.  I think it's been 90 days (my wii board is very impressed with me!).  It's definitely a great tool for exercising.  I started out just using Wii Fit, but recently I have been motivated to bike to work, walk at lunch, and now I have ankle weights and free weights to use while I do "free step".  It was a good starting point and it's very simple to do for people who don't have tons of time or can't afford a gym membership.

If you are just going to use it every once in awhile, then it probably won't work.  But if you establish a routine and really work it, then I think it's definitely helpful.

I also hate my trainer (on the Wii).  Every time she tells me "your leg is a little shaky" I just want to throw something at the TV (and then I wobble even more).  I call her bad names.  I think I have anger issues.  The DH just laughs at me.  Embarassed

hey
my friend has a wii fit and she has lost a good few pounds from it! (she has had it from the start)

im hoping to get my hands on one for myself but im stuck with using my mums when im at her house ( its funny tho, seeing family trying to keep still on the wii board hehehe )

just keep at it and see what happens
(best of luck and have fun! :)

I use the Wii fit as an extra tool. I like that it weighs you each day and tells you whether you gained or loss weight. Once you've worked on it for awhile you unlock different levels and I have really come to enjoy the step aerobic exercise. It allows you to turn to a regular tv channel and it still counts your steps. I incorporate hand weights in with it when I do it.

i just thought i would drop by and let you know how i got on with the wii fit last night.

First of all i spent a bit of time setting me and my OH up on it but once we were going we didnt want to stop. It was a challenge between us - who could get number one on most things. I even unlocked a few things with the amount of time we spent on there.

I have to say i am very impressed!!! I will definatly try to keep it up!!

Also i have dropped 2lbs since i last weighed myself 2 weeks ago so that gave me a boost at the start of my session!!!!

Going home tonight to try and beet my balance board record!! then perhaps the hula record!!!

Thank you all for your replies.

i log mine as low intensity workouts for aerobic, yoga for yoga, calisthenics for strength, and i just fit the odd balance games in here and there. an hour of aerobics for me is about 300 cals. got an hour programmed in for tonight actually.

when i work out i really put the effort in, and i can JUST about work up a sweat if i push myself. i need to work on my pushups though im useless at them haha!

The only add ons I needed for my wii is some wrist weights just to get a little more out of the aerobics.  Love my wii fit.  Have already lost weight and gone down in wii age. so my balance is way better

I was thinking about getting some wrist weights and ankle weights for when im working out. Might treat myself this weekend.

Lol tigzy....Im useless and pushups too. My upper body strength is not very good at all!

Racked up another 45 mins on the wii fit last night - im loving the yoga.

Do you have to do an activity so many times before you can do more of it. Like the aerobics for example - it doesnt last very long and i dont even break a sweat?!

I've been using the wrist weights for the boxing, too.  (And for the Tricep Extension exercise.  Did you know it's excellent for toning your upper arms?  *snicker*)  Arm/Chest seems like the Wii-Fit's weakest point, especially since pushups are a little beyond me.

One of the things I like about the scoring is that if you get the same score as one on the list, you're always higher.  If it's one that's easy to get perfect on (like Jackknifes.  I may not be good at them, but it's easy to get a perfect.), you're still on the board.

I started a thread giving my tips for playing Wii Fit a few weeks back. I don't know how to link to the thread, but here is a quote of mine from the post:

"Since I'm been active on the forums, I've notice a few topics mentioning Wii Fit. A few (not a lot, but some) were negative. This kind of bums me out because I love the game, and wouldn't be where I am today with out it. It inspired me to do something about my weight (before Wii Fit, I really didn't care that I was 276lbs). Now I'm 50 pounds lighter, and it's mostly thanks to Wii Fit. So, here are some tips for getting the most out of the game, because Wii Fit is like any other form of exercise- you get out of it what you put in.

1. First and foremost, play everyday! This game was designed more as a introduction to exercise, so playing everyday will ultimately want to make you seek out other forms of exercise (as I did). It's been 84 days since my first day playing the game, of those 84 days I've missed 5, for a total of 45 hours and 20 minutes of total work-out time.

2. Be patient. All the best exercises and higher repetitions aren't going to be available to you right away. I think that many people understood this, because I heard a lot of complaints like "I barely broke a sweat" on peoples first day of playing.  This is a "casual" game at its heart but it has one feature that is very "hardcore" which is unlocking content. It probably took me about 2 or 3 weeks of playing a half hour a day to unlock every exercise and all repetitions. If you want to unlock content quicker just play longer. An hour a day will unlock exercises twice as fast.

3. Don't cheat yourself. Don't play a half hour of balance games and call it "exercise." You'll only be cheating yourself. Instead concentrate on the exercises that actually make you break a sweat, and that you find the most difficult. I completely ignore the balance games, and work on strength training and Yoga, with some aerobics thrown in every now and again. When doing exercises like advanced step or boxing exaggerate your movements and really get into the game.

4. Find another form of exercise. Go walking for an hour, then go home and play Wii Fit. Wii Fit is best when mixed with other forms of exercise. As I said before, the game is just designed to get you active, and thinking about your health. And last but not least...

5. Listen to the Wii Fit tips. There is some pretty good information to be obtained from this game.

And that's it. These tips should help you get the most out of Wii Fit. I hope this helps those who were previously complaining that Wii Fit wasn't a good work out."
