Quote  |  Reply
Hi Everyone,

I just joined a few weeks ago a I have lost 9 lbs so far. But, boy do I have a long way to go. I also just took on a new Endever... I quit smoking 5 days ago. I think I have completely lost my mind for doing all of this at once. I have really been craving a cig for the last 18 hrs and junk food at the same time. I was up till 5 am this morning trying to stay busy with things to watch on tivo. (ie: catch up on my soaps and Dog the Bounty Hunter) I didn't give in but it wasn't easy. there's not much else you can do at 2-3 o'clock in the mornin.

Good for you for not giving in!

Keep in mind, if you do give in, you've got to quit all over again... the temptations won't go away overnight, but they lose their strength with time. If you give in, you've got to cover that time distance all over again. Be strong! You can do it!
1000 kudos to you for not smoking anymore. i quit in nov.2006 just from one day to another and i know how hard it is. and now thats why i need to lose weight cause instead of the cigarette in my mouth i put food :( so now im doing both and i know how bad those cravings are everyone from my family somkes. my moms smokes 2 packs a day and i was hard, i would be able to see some one down the block with a ciagrette but it will get easier i promise just stick to it. i dont even get a craving for a cigarette.  GOOD JOB AND GOOD LUCK
Welcome to cc. I wish you all the best.
Thank you for your support everyone. and shrekfiona my husband still smokes but I have cut down to 1 ashtray in the house ( Livingroom) he's not very happy about it but he hasn't complained. It hasn't bothered me until today. But he hasn't even smoked in here today. I just have a craving. I'm sure it will pass. I used to smoke 2 packs a day. I take chantix 2 x daily. Did you have any help or did you do it on your own?
Hi Jackie

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking, I did it too on 03/23/07 and have been smoke free since. I chewed the gum for a week then read a book that totally inspired and put the whole disgusting habit into perspective for me.

My weight has been 185-200 pounds for the last 20 years and with quitting smoking, it jumped up to over 230 before I knew it. I've since dropped around 13 pounds of that, thankfully!

I decided to use my smokefree world as a basis for a healthy lifestyle and started my food log and counting calories recently. I love the exercise, my breathlessness is disappearing daily and I have lost 3.4 pounds so far. Congrats on your 9 pound loss !

Get hubby to quit with you or take that ashtray away completely and keep him outside. Your willpower is great, keep at it :)
Welcome to CC and to the world of a cigarette-free attempt at weightloss. Good luck with both endeavors. Think of it this way, as you get used to exercising without getting winded, you'll have a new way to fight cravings... feeling stressed, bored, annoyed, etc? Reach for your running shoes instead of a ciggy!
thank you gypzy for your support andkeep up the good work. I've tried to get him to quit with me but he won't and I don't think I can ask him to go outside tosmoke to works out in the heat all day and I know he's tired and just want's to relax. It's ok. I'm hoping in a few yrs I can get him to quit. I won't give up.

This is the biggest I have ever been in my life I'm at 305  and I wanna get back down to 140 WOW..... I have a long way to go. But I know I can do it. When you have so many people routing for you, how can you not be a winner.:)
i stopped ALL on my own! i didnt want to use anything i would be dependent on. and if you want my opinion i think they are just a waste of money. but some people need them cause they think its too hard. but either way whatever works for you. it was the hardest for me on new years cause of course beer goes with cigarettes but once i made it through new years i knew id be okay.

and i know how difficult it is to want someone to quit but they just wont. when ever anyone tells her she should quit of slow down she just gets reall defensive and mad. they have to want to stop for themselves.
YOU CAN QUIT!!!
