Ok so last week I was weighing 142.8, felt awesome!!!! Well over the weekend I had a few glasses of Wine.  I wake up Sunday morning and had jumped up to 146!!!!!  Wine was the only thing I did different.  Is Wine that evil????  Exercised my butt of on Sunday and Yesterday too, this morning I weighed 144.  Am I still shaking the wine out of my system?  I just cant think of any other reason for the quick gain.  Someone please answer this for me.  I dont drink wine alot (actually the first time I had any in over a month) and it was only 3 glasses.

Ok Im listening to everyone!!  Neeners????  you got an answer for me?  :)

Hey slappy...no Wine isn't that evil.  I've been drinking it all throughout my weight loss and while being here.  It is a pile of empty calories, however, and generally makes you want to munch.  Did you munch when you drank the wine?  ALSO, the glasses you had...were they 3.5 oz. or larger.  You have to be careful of that.  What you may think is only 74 calories may actually be double that.  There is one restaurant I go to that serves 7 oz glasses of wine.  That's HUGE.

Usually when I drink more than 2 glasses, I don't weigh myself because it can bloat you.  Drink lots of water today and just flush it out.  You'll be back down in no time, slappy.
thanks

They were 3.5 glasses and I didnt eat while I drank.  I was very bloated though. going to try to flush my system today.

I will hold off on weighing again til the end of the week.  I knew neeners would have an answer for me! :)  thanks girl!
Just call me the local wine-o!!!  Actually, I haven't had any alcohol for a few days.  I may tonight....depends on my mood after work =)  But, because I didn't have any alcohol recently, I was able to get up at 5 a.m. for a morning swim!!!  Amazing how little sleep you need if you don't knock yourself out with wine. =)
I love red wine too much to give up...I have measured my favortie wine glass at  home and it holds half of a cup in it! So I figure that isn't too bad. But Saturday night, I REALLy enjoyed my wine...had four glasses...out to dinner with freinds...what more can I say..I snacked on grapes that I had made ready in a dish when the other snacks came out...so for that, I was good! I am far from my goal weight, but I am actually well more aware of what I am consuming and doing with my training! Tomorrow will be one month for me....not lost alot but my body is thanking me for the good thoughts and thanking me for taking care of it...finally! SO, SKAL!!! I shall have one little itty bitty glass of red wine tonight...OOOPPPPPPSSSSS!!!!
I think I will hold off on itagain til the end of the month! Going to NC and I know I will need some then!!!!!
Good God, I hope it's not evil!
Being a stay at homeschoolin father of two boys, I *neeeed* ;-) that evening  attitude adjustment.
I'm, uh, taking it purely for the medicinal benefits. Yeah, that's the ticket. Purely the medicial benefits. Unstick my platelets and all that....

Slappy,  If you had wine does that mean that you are done with the Milk Thistle?  I am curious what if any results you have seen from the liver cleanse.   I am considering doing it, but I have read so many opinions I am not sure how it would work.

Tammy
I am done with it.  I had started to wonder if drinking wine the night after a week of cleansing was a bad idea!  I really feel like I benefited from the cleansing.  I was taking Fiber before Breakfast and Dinner, Milk Thistle after breakfast and lunch and a laxative at bedtime.  My hubby and I both did this and neither of us had any bad effects from it.  we felt like we had more energy and slept so much better.  WE both feel great still.

Maybe I should have thought twice about the wine!
slappy....I would have thought twice about the wine and had DOUBLE the amount =)  Guess my mind works quite differently, huh?
you are funny Neeners!  bad part about having wineries close by!
Slappy, glad to hear it worked for you.  I think I will give it a try.

Guess that means no wine for me for a little while.  Maybe I had better try it after Saturday.  Hubby and I have a dinner date for our five year anniversary this Saturday night and I would hate to miss my wine that night LOL!
What an interesting post.  A subject close to my wineful little heart.  I tried to give it up for Lent, but have backslidden, mea culpa.  But y'all, I truly am so strict and mindful about what I put in my mouth, that this one little indulgence just doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me, diet-wise.  Wine is so much more than a mere "drink"---it is the lubricant of warm loving conversation, Earth's gift  from ripe grapes...the nectar of the gods on Mt. Olympus---and heck, even Jesus made some for that wedding at Cana!  Our Saviour was no fool---he knew you can't have a wedding without some good vino!!!:):)

Sure, it adds "empty" calories, but do we want to define our consumption of good things in only numerical terms?  There are larger issues in play here.  Clandaddy, I only had one child, and did not home-school her, but I WAS her interim piano teacher for one year when we lived in a rural area far from "real" instructors, and I can definitely identify about needing that "medication" after a round of scales, Schumann, and "shrieking"...:):)  Can't imagine what it's like to have the little darlings for all subjects, all day!  We who happily shipped ours off to school each morning salute you!

Just curieuse---what led you to home-school?  My first cousin tried it with her 6 (yes, six) and made it fine for a while, but their adolescence kind of did her in, and at some point she threw 'em all on a schoolbus and said the Heck with this s**t.

Part of me would love to have done the homeschool thing, as I only had the one girl, but I simply did not trust myself to be disciplined about curriculum.  I would have been great teaching her French  and art, but would have kind of let the science and math stuff slide. I am posting my favorite poem of all time on my Diet Log today, and it will explain why I would have been a disaster as a stay-at-home Socrates!

Sorry I "flamed" you earlier.  I'm just kind of a lippy type..."sassy" as my mother's maid used to call me when I was little.  She told me daily, "Yo prollem is, you ain't been WHUP ON enough."

I needed to find this post! I also "neeeed" my glass or three two at the end of the day!

Nice to see you all here!
